Although he had been tasked with establishing the settlement of Queenston for Corrington, Colonel Allcock found much of his time was spent trying to organise the logistics of the growing New Haven Sea Campaign. The distance from Queenston to Spudkirk was hindering his ability to do this, made necessary by Brigadier Howe's recall to Belson again; meanwhile the campaign work was preventing him fully committing to settlement building. To this end, he had finally received permission from the Colonial office to return to Spudkirk. In addition, he had been granted discretionary power to appoint a formal Mayor for Queenston. The choice in Allcock's mind was easy. Edward Scarver, a young privateer Captain who had been instrumental in establishing Queenston was Allcock's pick. As such, he has invited Scarver to the newly constructed mayoral office to offer him the job.

"Captain Scarver, I would be honoured if you would accept the appointment of mayor of the Corlander Colonial settlement of Queenston"@Justsomebrix

The office had been put to immediate use and Allcock found the endless paperwork and correspondence much easier than from a campaign tent. One of the issues that he had been dealing with was engagement with the Wayfarer Trade Company on a number of matters.

The honourable Kadeus Mordo, Executive Commander of the WTC, @Darnok

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your letter and it is good to hear the WTC will stepping up operations in the New World. I have much respect for your company, which has achieved many great things in your time in Nova Terra; although not without some degree of notoriety I note. I look forward to seeing your future efforts to expand the glory of our empire. In answer to your specific questions,

1. Regarding Gunpowder Island; The Crown, with assistance of the ETTC have set up a fledging settlement called Black Beach. Our intent was to establish a small settlement with a dual purpose: One to protect the northern approaches to the Garma Strait and the Northern sea route to both Jameston and Mesabi Landing and; two, to exploit rumours of rare minerals. Unfortunately our endeavours have been curtailed by the Terraversa affair, the war against the Lotii and in no small measure also by the extremely hostile natives, who have resisted all attempts at friendship with force. I would be glad to have WTC investment in the settlement and to leverage your experience in the area in any way possible. You are correct in that a substantial deposit of saltpetre has been discovered; although we have yet to have been able to exploit it. So, as the Corlander Colonial Governor of the Paradise Isles, I hereby grant the WTC permission to establish a presence in the settlement of Black Beach and transfer the rights to develop the existing saltpetre deposits into a mining concern with the yield to be shared between the WTC and Crown at a rate to be worked out on the commencement of operations. Currently the ETTC have responsibility for the defence of the settlement and I expect that any WTC presence would coexist peacefully and in cooperation with ETTC officials and Crown officials alike.

2. Camp Isaac. The RSNP is committed to the sustainable development of the logging industry on Cascadia. So far only very limited logging operations have occurred. This is in line with RSNP policy of minimal impact on nature and in respect to the local Myzec people who have a deep spiritual connection to the rainforest. I mention this because while I welcome further WTC presence in Camp Isaac and will grant the company the necessary forestry licenses; I would ask you to respect our values when carrying out logging operations. Our current policy is to 'thin' the forest. Strip logging of entire areas will not be permitted. I have included a letter of introduction to the RSNP liaison officer with the Myzec representative in Camp Isaac and look forward to hearing of your endeavours there.

At this stage, WTC assistance in developing Black Beach and a sustainable logging industry in Camp Isaac would be the most valuable contribution to the development of the East Prio Sea area. For commercial opportunities in the New Haven Sea I would encourage you to contact the Mayors of Wullham, Spudkirk or Queenston for opportunities. Similarly for any opportunities in the western colonies. I am excited by your offers for assistance and look forward to a new era of cooperation and development between ourselves and the WTC.

Yours sincerely,

Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock,

Colonial Governor of the Paradise Isles, Knight of the Order of the Compass Rose, Secretary of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy.

Finally had some time to address some IC issues I should have focused on much earlier. The property will be licensed for Corrington as a small commerce in Queenston.

"The honor is all mine Sir, I humbly accept the appointment. Since I got here I've grown very fond of the land, but most of all the people. I see a great future for Queenston and I am glad I'll be a part of it."

Good looking Mayor's office! Looks like Scarver didn't have the time to brush his hair this morning:pir-laugh:

That's a nice mayor's house, I like the architecture. I'm always amazed at what great buildings you build on a small area.

The skylight is practical, the monkeys can jump from the palm tree onto the roof and enter the house through the skylight.

Lovely light yellow building, I love the bushy plants too and the subtle texture on the flat roof is great.  And it's great to see the toucan popping up in more BoBS builds! :pir-grin:

Another great MOC! There's a nice tropical feel to it, with the colorful palette, all of the flowers and of course: the toucan.

I like how you did the planter below the windows. That's clever.

Weird seeing your sigfig in flesh, though .
