ToaDraco Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 (edited) Yeah honestly I'm only going to get a couple blind boxes and get the rest of the figures I want off bricklink. I'm not risking duplicates or getting a bunch of figures I don't want. They're too expensive and money is too tight to be gambling away on an irl lootbox. The whole blind bag thing was already distasteful but switching to boxes is really an ethically questionable move on LEGO's part since children are LEGO's intended audience. Just to bring up a comparison to one of LEGO's direct competitors, Mega Construx Pokeball sets are fantastic as they tell you exactly what Pokemon you're getting. They very easily could have made those blind packs and force you to buy a bunch of them to hope you get the Pokemon you want and make a lot more money but they didn't and I respect them more for not doing that. In LEGO's case, I lost a little respect for them over the blind bags/boxes thing. Edited July 16, 2023 by ToaDraco
hikouki Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 I kept wondering why the choice of Wolverine, Storm and Beast as the CMF X-men, since Wolverine has been made as a minifig so many times. Now I just saw the teaser trailer and it is them three featured. Aren't those three also going to be on the rumored X-Mansion?
wesker Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Blurry pics of Beast and Moon Knight from the package art are out on Reddit. Shouldn't be too long for the rest of the characters to be revealed. I like the sound of a buildable Sentinel minifigure that's included with the X-Men characters. Also starting to see more X-Men 97 merchandise from other companies pop up. Hopefully Lego has a decent selection of sets lined up for the January wave. 46 minutes ago, hikouki said: I kept wondering why the choice of Wolverine, Storm and Beast as the CMF X-men, since Wolverine has been made as a minifig so many times. Beast had a lab coat while Wolverine and Storm were the same 2014 figures, although there's always the possibility of the final product just reusing the CMF figures. We've seen it done before with other licensed themes including Tiana recently in the Disney Castle remake.

BrickBob Studpants Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 This looks fake to me. Moon Knight doesn‘t have the existing hood piece and Beast doesnt have the Wolverine hairpiece as previously rumoured. And if was actually real, why is the picture quality this horrendous? I‘ve seen better Bigfoot and Nessie pictures
Agent Kallus Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 I'm quite glad Lego are thinking of the environment but we'll see how the boxes turn out,I mean with Videyo we had plastic bags inside boxes so it was entirely pointless. Lego rarely has parts loose in boxes so perhaps there'll be paper bags inside the boxes. If there are plastic bags inside the boxes then they deserve all the egg on Thier face. 2 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: This looks fake to me. There are more changes to the cmf, most notably Kang being replaced by Goliath.

Maybe internally, but the public hasn‘t seen a single one in the last 13 years Also, I highly doubt they‘d be able to replace Kang with another character this quickly. The allegations against Majors came out rather recently. And even if they did replace Kang, why Goliath of all characters? Bill Foster has not suited up so far, so what would they even do, feature a comic version in an MCU series? Not that I would mind a minifig of Lawrence Fishburne, but his character is probably not that high up on anyone‘s MCU wanted list anyway. Probably doesn‘t even crack most people’s top 30 Edited July 16, 2023 by BrickBob Studpants

I guess we will see, but I have it on what I believe to be pretty solid authority.
Legocentrico Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 We have never heard of preliminary images for the CMFs, but it is also true that there is something strange about these descriptions. In the first old description of Promobricks there was talk of Kang with a blue head, and Echo with the final costume of the series. The same details provided by Brick Clicker. Yet no one can tell if Werewolf is in color or black and white! Apparently we know all the accessories but it is clear that no one has seen all the minifigures.. and how is this possible? Even the first description of the accessories wasn't 100% correct, but it certainly wasn't invented! What did these people see?

Even the first description of the accessories wasn't 100% correct, but it certainly wasn't invented! What did these people see? Yup, exactly - many things were correct, but some others weren’t. It may have been that some figures weren’t yet done? Who knows. If memory serves, in the original leaked details, it said Wolverine had ‘lavender pieces’ or something along those lines, which we now know to be Sentinel parts - but without mentioning their inclusion with the other X-Men. It seems like whatever leakers are seeing is incomplete.
Lego_ofme Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Eurgh if there’s no Kang then I’m going to be very disappointed with this cmf series I think. He was the one I was most looking forward to and could forgive some of the weaker inclusions like Echo. Goliath - the action figure leaked online is really dull. Would rather another member of the x-men or vision ultron from what-if. Another Marvel let down for me. I have very low expectation for the tower but so willing to be happily surprised! Marvel is by far my favourite thing but it’s weak weak weak from Lego atm. If there is this change one would assume that Kang is being majorly reworked or paused by Marvel until the Majors stuff has a clear conclusion. He should have been included in a proper antman Lego set with a proper wasp or Cassie.
Buckethead Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Looks like that "leak" was deleted. Seriously though, doesn't it usually take a year or two to design and create these figures. How could they swap Kang when we've known about him for months and the series drops in less than two months?

Oh well. I was really looking forward to Kang (especially with his absence in the Ant-Man set). I am, however, really excited for What If...? season 2. I personally enjoyed the first season and have high hopes for the next. The Marvel Legends figure looks neat, and with Marvel leaning into the Multiverse, the more variants the merrier. Guess this also continues the trend of being exclusively Disney Plus shows.

Brick Clicker Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 The descriptions were based of prelim designs which is why slight things have changed. Lego will likely design more than 12 figures when developing a series for if an issues come up like with Kang so there is still an ability to switch things out late in development

Thanks for confirming, man.
So this switch with Goliath is actually possible? Your description is very recent, you would have noticed it if it had happened… or not?

It just feels bizarre that the actions of an actor would cause the removal of a fictional character from a toy line. Oh well. Also, if these are preliminary descriptions, I'm curious what else they've changed (or hopefully added). Fingers crossed we still get a buildable sentinel.

I am somehow doubting that the three CMF sets will form an actual minifig. I would not mind an Avatar-style tallfig though. LOL it's got to be brick-built, I think. Both for size, and I can't see lego including spare torsos and legs in a CMF. 6 hours ago, Agent Kallus said: Also Bigfoot and Nessie together? Truly the crossover we need. Whereas now we can't get a set including Ezra Miller's flash (Don't get me wrong- Ezra Miller should be in jail whereas Gina Carano said something on twitter some people didn't like, so it's not the same thing at all, but in terms of "actor different than character", lego seems to have changed their tune). Actually, about the same time as Cara being in a set, we had Slave One just called "boba fett's starship", and the ToD set was cancelled, though we don't know if it was for fear of controversy. I find it hilarious that lego seems so controversy-averse with stuff like that, and yet at the same time is doing the physical version of what caused Battlefront 2 to be investigated by the US senate.
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Huh. Can we trust the rest of the list then? This all sounds fishy 1 minute ago, Mandalorianknight said: [...] at the same time is doing the physical version of what caused Battlefront 2 to be investigated by the US senate. ...qué?
