Based on set leaks (real ones, not just Ryan trolling), I doubt that it will be PG-13. If you get your hand caught in a garbage disposal, whatever your step-relatives do is the least of your concern. Your only priority is removing your hand from a device that can mangle it in seconds if someone flips the wrong light switch. Wait, what leaks? The only ones I've seen are deadpool and wolveriene fighting on the remnants of the 20th century fox logo. 41 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Thank you for that Still not particularly likely, given it’s a costume strongly tied to an R-rated series of films whereas Doc Ock is from a game that kids can also play. If they really want a new Deadpool minifig somewhere, why not simply avoid the potential controversy altogether by using a comic-inspired design instead? Like @psqidexslizer says, it's more about the optics. Deadpool showing up at all is gonna be rough, but the parents will NOT care if it's comic based or not, and the suits look too similar for them to distinguish. If there's a situation where there's a lego deadpool, might as well just do it and make the movie version. I guess another way to say that is, the parent reaction won't be different whether the fig has the MCU or comic design. But lego might be able to soften to blow if it's just deadpool in a set as opposed to a deadpool-branded set. Also, I know spider-man PS4 isn't R-rated, but I'd say it's also a good chunk more mature than most MCU movies, at least how they used to be. GOTG 3's F-bomb and Eternals's adult content are both farther than spider-man PS4 went (That excellent mod slightly altering peter's language in the final battle nonwithstanding) Edited December 13, 2023 by Mandalorianknight

I guess it's just when LEGO charges a provably exorbitant price for some sets, that only exacerbates the negative details, because many people feel like if LEGO charges so much then all those little details should be perfect. Stuff like Ronan's hood, characters lacking printing or dual moulding where it's pretty necessary, and the list goes on. They've done Spidey with dual moulded legs countless times now, but they even skimped there. On the face of it this wave does offer remarkable breadth - a couple of MCU sets providing fresh material from well-regarded movies, made up Spidey stuff that only takes a couple of slots, an X-Men set and two mechs. It's a great range. It's just that the very high prices of some sets, and the lacking detail especially in light of those prices, let some people down. Perfectly stated. I want to be excited for this wave but at those prices we start to take a harder look at quality and unfortunately it’s not there. Not all the way there. It’s crazy how I’m so extremely let down by Rogue but also so extremely excited at her being produced at all. Although I still stand by my sentiment that Jean should have been included in Rogues place because Jean does not need dual molded legs and would fit with this hair style.

It's not the green and yellow of the classic comics, there's no labcoat, and it's clearly not based on the films or cartoons. The hair is subjective but probably the best non-printed hair piece that works. The face is clearly the goggles of PS4 ock, the colors could be lego's own tendancy to add brighter shading/more color to stuff, and as for kneepads, lego doesn't often do leg printing for marvel figs that don't absolutely need it (and even many that do... sorry Cyclops)

I think the bald hairpiece with bits on side would be better than the current choice. The goggles are too bright and face looks too young. Torso should be more dark green than grey for my liking. Yeah kneepads on the legs was me being nitpicky to the extreme. If people want to use/claim its PS version fair enough. Its no further away than the lego NWH Doc Ock from NWH film Doc Ock.
wesker Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 (edited) https://www.marvel.com/articles/gear/hasbro-marvel-legends-x-men-97-wave-2 Hasbro has revealed their second wave of X-Men 97 figures. Will be interesting to see how deep Lego goes with the character selection for their products. I have no doubt we'll be getting Jean Grey next year but I really hope Nightcrawler is also able make the cut for the X-Mansion. The Goblin Queen and X-Cutioner would be nice to have too but I'd prefer getting Mystique, Sinister and Sabretooth first before those two. As bad as Magneto's new costume looks I do think the dark purple on Hasbro's figure works a lot better than the brighter colors on Lego's version. Edited December 14, 2023 by wesker

This version of Magneto is more aggressive, but the Lego color is more faithful to the original. However, on the boxart we still see the red dress, in my opinion there is a good chance of seeing that too (if other sets arrive in the future).
Gorilla94 Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I am thinking about getting some of the Avengers in minifigure form. Could anyone tell me, if it is just the new Hulk that has a moveable head? I really appreciate figures with more articulation... On the other hand the printed on pants look terrible compared to older versions with moulded pants... What do you guys think? Will there be a perfect version (bright green, dark green hair, movable head and moulded pants) at some point? Or will lego stick with movie accurate olive green Hulks? :/

That's his entire thing!) I also unfortunately wouldn't put much hope into getting a comic-based bigfig hulk anytime soon. Lego very rarely does non-infinity saga/MCU, non-spider-man sets, and a bigfig is a significant portion of a set's budget, meaning we don't often see them anyway. I guess I'll ask that one more generally, since now I'm curious what people think- with the MCU starting to sink, do you think we'll see more general comic-based marvel sets beyond spider-man? Or do you think we'd see more the route of DC, where it's just a few sets a year based on older, more popular films? I think everyone'd hope for the former but I expect the latter unfortunately. We need a non-MCU avengers cartoon. Edited December 14, 2023 by Mandalorianknight

We need a non-MCU avengers cartoon. You answered your own question. If sets based on well-advertised movies start to fail, why would sets based on comics most people will never read in their lives do any better? Comic sets only do well if you plaster the most-well known A-tier characters all over them, hence all the Batman and Spiderman merch While I think it’s still too early to write the MCU off, there’s no doubt they’d go the DC route if things go south and focus on the well-received older movies. They already have the whole Infinity Saga subtheme to do exactly that!
wesker Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I don't see the Infinity Saga sets going away anytime soon. Even if the current MCU films are failing the older ones are still beloved by many and have been such an integral part of modern pop culture. The Avengers Tower selling out so quickly shows there's still a market for MCU products. Personally I'd love to see the next Marvel CMF series to drop the Disney+ theme entirely and focus on comic variants for the Avengers instead. But for now I think the best we can expect is the occasional variant included in the mech sets like the new War Machine that's coming out.

We need a non-MCU avengers cartoon. It’ll depend on a couple of things. 1) How well is the DCU received? If it’s a hit, then DC will probably get most of the budget for Super Hero sets going forward the way Marvel basically took over the theme these past several years. 2) Does Marvel find success with non-MCU content? If X-Men ‘97 is wildly successful we might see a shift towards X-Men merchandise, mostly based on the show, perhaps something thrown in there for comic fans. 3) How long will this MCU decline actually last? Is it going to let up once the next Avengers film comes out, or will it last until the inevitable reboot? Going forward, my best guess is we’ll see Lego start to prioritize DC a bit more given they’re rebooting and that will probably generate enough interest to sell sets again. I’m not expecting them to go all out, probably just a set for the big name heroes coming until Lego sees how the audience reacts. For Marvel, we’ll see cuts back on sets for new releases (probably only sets for well knowns like Thor, Captain America, and Avengers) but we’ll still see sets focusing on the Infinity Saga and comic Spider-Man sets.
Scarilian Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Still working on attempting to modify the Hulkbuster. CMF series should focus on high quality legacy characters. Sets should shift to focusing on the comic portrayals of the characters to avoid the reliance on screen-accuracy when making a set for a new film or show - along with also preventing delays. Characters chosen in the sets would be somewhat related to what is releasing, but would'nt be tied to it. A year or so after release we'd get a movie-accurate set focusing on the main characters, similar to how they handled the recent Spider-man NWH sets. As for Disney+, similar process, wait till its all aired and then release a set for it a year later as often Disney+ leaves the reveal of the villains final look or finalized suits till the absolute end of the series. 4 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: I guess I'll ask that one more generally, since now I'm curious what people think- with the MCU starting to sink, do you think we'll see more general comic-based marvel sets beyond spider-man? I don't think we have much to worry about until 2030. As long as Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars (Both parts potentially) happen they'll end up making sets based on those for two to three years at least. Then they'll go back and do legacy sets for popular characters/films.

I wish I could be this confident in Jean being produced. At the moment we only have the X Mansion to anticipate but hopefully we do get other sets. I honestly love the X Men this is a dream come true that we're even getting new content. I do wish we had better hair options for Magneto. Both Han Solos hair (26139) and Episode 8 Luke's hair (35494) would work well for Magneto and neither have been produced in white before! The combination of the bright purple with the long hair makes this Magneto feel childish and not as intimidating. A darker color scheme would be fine but if they kept this light purple and gave him a shorter cut I'd be fine. Hopefully new short white hair pieces appear in other themes or PAB/BAM this upcoming year. If we do happen to get more sets I hope we see Jubilee, Jean Grey, Gambit, and Colossus or Bishop before Nightcrawler but I love Nightcrawler so much that I wouldn't be too mad. I just don't envision him as a core member of the 97 team, even if he is going to be on. I'd enjoy Nightcrawler as an addition to the Giant Size X Men. I'd actually love to get Banshee and Sunfire as well to add to that team. The 2014 Cyclops and Storm are accurate to the Giant Size X-Men so my hope is when they finish the 97 wave they eventually get around to producing 70's X-Men designs. Or at least going back to it..... for the tiara.

I’m a big fan of the comics, specifically the Claremont run from the 70’s and 80’s, so I just see X-Men ‘97 as a way to get X-Men sets as opposed to being excited at X-Men cartoon sets specifically. Also probably why I’m really hoping the Mansion will take more inspiration from comics than the show and give us a wider variety of characters (specifically the ones I want).
