RichardGoring Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 You always have to wait for the full reveal, but it doesn't excite me, and certainly not for $450. The batmobile is the most exciting thing, but it's not a good as 40433, which you can piece together, minus the exclusive sticker for about $50. The while things just feels a bit plain and boring. A lot of parts to make it into a box, with a gimmicky reveal that likely won't look great as the background is also pretty dark. I had so hoped for it being like a geode, with an organic/rocky/natural shell, with a proper cave inside. The play features don't seem particularly clever or delightful. Not even an elevator down from Wayne manor. It looks like a $200 set, and at that price would feel expensive. Very similar feeling to the Black Panther bust, where it feels like there is a disconnect between the mandated price point, what you can do to build up to that price point, and what the market wants. Currently disappointed, but hopefully that changes with the full reveal.
NovaBricks Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I can't decide how voting with my wallet on this one will be taken by LEGO lol. On one hand I want to support the Batman theme and want a comic Arkham somewhere down the road, and on the other hand I don't want to spend $450 on a $200 Batcave and reinforce the notion that everything needs to be this big and expensive.
psqidexslizer Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) Just to take a break from all the negativity, I do like that the cave is about the same width as the Joker Manor back from TLBM. So, if you were to have both sets and were willing to get some extra pieces to do some modding, you could actually make a pretty cool Wayne Manor and Batcave display. I’m tempted to wait for the Batcave to go on sale and then do this. Still undecided atm. Edited May 15, 2023 by psqidexslizer

Legocentrico Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I was thinking that the plaque on top of the batmobile could fold down to accommodate the batwing… it is not advertised on the box because it is sold separately (as was the case with the hulkbuster) ps. I haven't read all the comments yet, if someone has already said so I apologize

You're probably right, but based on the images, I'm not sure that I like the fins at the back as much, and it's really hard to capture those accurately in LEGO at this scale. I also take great delight in the flame spinning in 40433. I have 40433 too, and really love it, so there could be bias coming through there. I suppose I should have said that the main draw to this set feels like the car, which is a $30-35 retail set, or something you can build from Bricklink parts for $50. The rest just doesn't appear to come close to offering $400 of value. The back wall concept suggests a solid $150-$200 playset. The cutout reveal front wall would be perfect in a microscale build for $50. I don't see the logic in trying to merge both of those ideas and scale them up to $450. But again, it's important to wait for the full reveal as there could be more interesting stuff happening. Hopefully!

It looks like the exhaust pipes are in black rather than they grey barrels on the GWP. Also the fins look a bit beefier which I prefer to the giant wing piece the GWP uses. But now I’m confused as to whether this Batmobile is actually part of the set or if it’s the standalone Batmobile releasing this summer combined with the bat cave. Missing from the box art is the rumored Batwing, as well. Very odd.

Agreed, I didn't particularly like it, and wondered why they did it. The car is on both the front and the back of the box, so has to be included. Batwing isn't, but as others have pointed out, there could be a platform that folds out for it, which would make sense.

Hm so perhaps the batwing is an accessory purchase then. $450 isn’t enough

It looks like a nice MOC someone made, but this does not feel like something that works as an official set at all. This basically feels like superhero D2Cs of late as a whole (except the modulars). They are fine MOCs! BP, this, even the Hulkbuster, but they're terrible official sets for one reason or another.

You'll probably need to look at Target and WalMart for it, which is somewhat frustrating as they appear very variable as to which store has what stock.

I wouldn’t compare this batcave to the BP or Hulkbuster, those just look bad without price or space considerations. The batcave looks superb, it just allocates what feels like half its budget on a container for the interior.
THELEGOBATMAN Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 It's certainly a set I do like the interior, although it has barely any depth. The Batmobile also looks great. The thing is, this feels like a 30€ Harry Potter gimmick-book-set turned into a 450€ Batcave. The whole front section is absolutely pointless, and covers up a pretty neat model. The back would've made a good 200€ set — but a 450€ gimmick-set is not something that should be a thing. There's also obviously the baffling decision to base it on Batman Returns. A 200€ set based on that would've been understandable — but a 450€ one is not.

With 15/20 minifigure comics I would have bought it on day one. lego mysteries…….

I feel like maybe they had designed this batcave for something else originally and then decided to tie it in with the Flash movie and as such threw in a few Burton Batman elements. Also, it baffles me that spinning the chair is advertised as a feature.
mgetz Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 So we are also getting another batmobile based off 1989 movie? that doesnt seem right to me, maybe it could be the Batman: Forever batmobile but i doubt it, i do find it strange that they would have this btmlbile in the set then another basically the same one in another

There may be some slight differences to differentiate the 89 and Returns vehicles.

Non mi sembra giusto, forse potrebbe essere la Batman: Forever batmobile ma ne dubito, trovo strano che avrebbero questo btmlbile nel set poi un altro fondamentalmente lo stesso in un altro remember the batmobile was supposed to come out last year, this year it was cave + car and batwing… they probably kept the batmobile because they think it will sell regardless of the cave. moreover, if there is Joker, there are not many doubts about the film…
