Rope ladder ideas needed for MOC

I'd like to build something like this:

but it looks quite bulky.

Any other ideas how this could be accomplished? I want the ladder to be flexible...

1x3 or 1x4 plates or plate plus tile. Stack pairs of them with thread sandwiched between them.

You make the second one with a droid arm on each each side running the whole way down as the rope, with a bar running between the two as the rungs. It will be movable and slightly flexible.

This is so funny, I woke up this morning and on my way to work was thinking about it and the same idea came to my mind lol. I think this will be the winner :)

I'd use 2 of that rope piece

and make each rung with 1 of the red pieces from this  

 

and 2 of this piece to hold each rung onto the rope pieces
