AwesomeStar Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hi, I'm trying to start my own army, but I need some tips about the following things: Uniform Ranks Vehicles Bases Weapons Thanks! ~A.S Quote
BillytheKid Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 It doesn't matter what kind of army? In that case I would look at bricklink which torso's are cheap. Rare parts, means a very expensive army . Quote
Shadows Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I'm trying to start my own army I'd suggest visiting the Other Themes forum where we discuss military ideas, and where I'm moving this thread to. Since LEGO will never produce real military themed parts outside of things that appear in Licenses, we keep the whole "realistic military" element in Other Themes, aka "The Land of Misfit Toys" and Fabuland. You should find lots of ideas there, just browse around. Quote
Eilif Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I would definately start by clarifying what kind of army you are looking for. However, a good place to start as far as minifigs are concerned would be to see what elements are available on LEGO online Pick-a-brick http://us.factory.lego.com/pab/?warning=fa...id=&shipto= . Such things as "pixie caps" (i.e. winter caps), "mini caps" (police officer caps), minifig legs of various shades (green, black, grey, dark grey, etc) are available, and tend to be cheaper than most anywhere else. Torso's and other accessories may have to be gottne at bricklink, but take a look around and see what you can find. Quote

I've taken your suggestions on board and am ordering right now. Brick arms is my best bet yet (helmet & weapon wise) and I've already started work on my first vehicle and the base. Thanks again! ~A.S. Quote
JimBee Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Lets see... I would get a lot of minifigs, weapons, and vehicles. ( ) Battle packs are good, for both Castle and SW, but if you are looking to make a realistic army, I suggest brickarms (of course, you are already going there). Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 stock up on indy sets! Thanks Maiq - great idea! They look like soldiers and I've ordered a load of the nazi caps (in different colors) for my ranks. I'll just purchase some pauldrons and a hell load of brickarms weapons, then that's my soldiers sorted. I'm already working on my first vehicle, which is a medical truck, and has currently been dismantled and changed a total of 4 times... So far. Anyone got any ideas for a base? Thanks, ~A.S. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Finished my Amphibious Supply Truck and its driver. Will be posting v. soon! ~A.S. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Amphibious supply truck had an unfortunate encounter with my cat and a table... Oh well. I have now clarified that I want a STEAMPUNK army... It's sooo cool! So, I've built the leader, Professor Star of Star Industries. I've also built a Testing Grounds for all my vehicles and a Prototype Scouting Plane.... Well, Gyrocopter. Sorta. Anyway, will be posting pictures very soon. ~A.S. Quote
