Holy moly! *oh2*

I still wonder why some of the IP torsos end up at PAB?!?

My personal guess is accidental overproduction of a part- they end up with more Nubs torsos than copies of the set they're producing, no plans to put him in another set- bam, PAB part.

Advent calendar is a very fun one- aside from this being, I believe, the shortest turnaround for a desirable trooper being in a second set EVER (though the calendar is technically more expensive than the bunker, so it's not exactly the same thing), we get a nice sibling celebration with Luke's new hair, and most importantly, A PHYSICAL MINIKIT IN AN OFFICIAL SET. Not to mention the classic X-wing and TIE.

I have a speadsheet with all the calendar info for this theme, so here's how it stacks up:

5 minifigs- average. That's what we've been seeing since 2021, and doesn't seem likely to change. It's been better in the past- 2016 had a whopping 8 minifigs- but this is fine.

1 molded droid - average. A little on the low end- we do get 2 sometimes- but not a big deal, especially since it's a B2 instead of a B1 like we normally get.

NO brick-built characters- Era low. The first year since 2018 with no brick-built characters. I'm sure most people don't care for them, but I've always enjoyed the Gonks or mouse droids in these. One of the calendar's few weaknesses in my view.

17 microbuilds- ALL-TIME RECORD. This calendar smashes the previous record for microbuilds, held by 2018 and 2020 with 13 each. I normally wouldn't be a fan, but there are some great new parts in here, as well as fun references to old sets, so I don't mind. (Plus I get to update my records!)

1 other build- Era low. Only one non-microbuild or character build, a low since 2020's 0 with 2021, 2022, and 2023 all having 4 or more. Another minor weak point in my opinion- these can be bad, but some of them, like the emperor's throne, are superior to microbuilds in my opinion. On the bright side, it is a minikit, which I believe is a first for physical form and is a wonderful choice by lego.

2 New prints- average. Two sweaters has been the average for quite some time now, with 2022 being the only exception since the number increased in 2018. (And even then, one of the 2022 prints is on an R2 torso rather than a minifigure part.)

Unless there's a shakeup in calendar form like there was around 2020/2021, this is my expectation for the 2025 calendar:

5 minifigs, 1 droid, 1 brick-built character, 13 microbuilds, 4 other builds

Gonna change some of my points when it comes to the sets now that I've seen more images.

Rex Microfighter: Still amazing, a must-buy for me. It's very weird that they raised the price to $13 because just last year they were $10. I don't mind paying $3 extra for a pauldron, but they keep raising the bar for children to get into this theme, which is sad. Very happy I can finally pick up Rex. Good job LEGO.

Luke's Mech: The box is really pretty, especially the back art. The idea of it being an X-wing is cool, and the build looks beautiful from the front and back. I'm not getting it because I am not the biggest OT fan, but it's a great mech overall, with great execution.

Mandalorian Battlepack: Quite shocked and disappointed Koska isn't there as I love her character and she was constantly mentioned with the set. Yeah, named characters are bad in a battle pack, but you can just put her helmet on and have a female Mandalorian. Mandalorian warriors look amazing. I love that you can connect the build with the bunker set. The build is okay; I would rather have another Mandalorian speeder, but I am okay with this. You can pretty much build an entire base if you buy multiple. Imperial Mandalorians are okay, I guess, not the biggest fan of versus battle packs and would rather have four Mandalorian warriors. I'm gonna buy a few right away and wait for a sale to go crazy on them. Don't think I will go over 40 battle packs, but we will see.

Advent Calendar: Not a fan, the minikit is cool though. Just need a Praetorian guard out of it.

Bunker Set: The build is much better than I expected. Moff looks really cool, but way less menacing without the cape, no arm printing as well. Praetorians look ugly, unimpressive, and dumb. Looks like they have a bucket and not a helmet, no rope/skirt cloth piece or anything, even their weapons look weak. Paz Vizsla has updated printing so I need it. The price is too much considering there are stickers, figures are poorly done, you have to get another figure or an advent calendar and a black cape for Gideon. Will buy it, but not very happy with it.

Dissapointed about Death Star being a Star Destroyer as I really wanted a Death Star playset.

Not a fan of the Mandalorian series, but the battle pack looks nice, though the price is hard to swallow. Rex is a must buy.

Really hope we'll get an Ewok mech one day!

Same here. But on the bright side I’m now able to build up my imperial navy.

I’ve seen some people on Reddit theorise that it could be a playset of the interior of a star destroyer, hence why it was confused for a Death Star, but as much as that would be cool I don’t see it actually happening.

Here are some things that I would like to see in the ISD:

1) More crew-members than officers and named characters. (Crewmen, low rank officers and DS troopers haven’t been in sets for a long time at this point. I also can’t say no to as many stormtroopers as possible)

2) A micro scale Hangar bay that can be seen from the underside of the ship. (Slight call back to original ISD playset by having a hole in centre of ship but it’s mostly for storing tie fighters (portrayed by studs) and not for an escape pod)

3) Small detention Block.
4) Decently detailed command centre.

5) Emperor Hologram

6) Ranks like: Captain, Admiral and Lieutenant.

Thoughts?

Luke minifig in the mech doesnt have dual molded legs :(

Yeah, bummer :sceptic: But i think I'll still get two mechs for the minifig (need more flight suits) and the printed rebel logo.

The Praetorian's helmet seems to have the visor slightly too high up and pointed upwards, compared to the look of the actual in show ones. Hopefully it'll look better in person but it does look a bit off in the photos to me.

The imperial set is confirmed to be a Star Destroyer with 1,500 pieces!

Cant wait for this. I hope it’s not really scaled down like most the sets are these days. It’s the sort of set I want day 1.

As someone who missed out on the 2014 Star Destroyer and has been hoping for a new one, this is encouraging news. However, the Death Star playset sounded conceptually more unique and interesting, so hopefully we’ll get something like it eventually.

Also, I don’t know if anyone has pointed it out, but to the very left of the bunker build, we get an evil lamp.

My first reaction is I was disappointed it is changing from the Death Star to an ISD.  I really wanted a midi ISD and preferred the hope of getting Tarkin, Mottie, Tagge, Yularen, Basst, etc. which would have been options in the Death Star.  After thinking about it though I will be open to the ISD if it is well executed and it gives us different options for new characters (Needa, Ozzel, updated Piett).  Hopefully we get some of these characters with some additional crew members as the price for imperial officers and crew members is way too high on brick link with most starting above $50.

Arch-nemesis of the heroic lamp from the BARC speeder set.

(Just to clarify, since I unironically love the lamp sidebuild in the BARC set, i don't care about this one- it's already a terrain build, the lamp is two parts, it has no impact on my opinion of the set)

Seeing that the Paz Viszla vs. Moff Gideon Battle is £35 here in the U.K, that’s…not too bad. I love Jang’s use of ‘volume of stuff’ as a metric in his reviews, and whilst this set doesn’t necessarily reflect that, the solid minifigure lineup (including new moulds) and really nice little location build ticks the boxes for me.

I’m hoping the Battle on Peridea set is like this, nice little contained build and solid minifigure lineup. It has almost 100 more pieces than this as well.

Honestly if it's a playset of the interior I would very much like that.

I just want as many officers as possible and Tarkin. I would be happy with both generic ones and named ones like Piett. Give me a little officer room with a desk they all sit around and I am happy.

Also how is no one talking about the Fortnite trailer? Are these named characters at 1:21? I don't know much about OT. There are also some Imperials and a Star Destroyer. Again I am not too knowledgable when it comes to OT.

If it's not a Star Destroyer but inside of it then consider me to have no more interest in the set, we haven't got one since 2014 it's bout time we do.

Yeah it would be cool. But I do agree that a Star Destroyer (with exterior set is overdue)

I also do agree that we need at least one new rank (or one we haven’t had for a decade) in this set. I still think, because of the current scarceness of imperial personnel, there should be a lot in the ISD or a stormtrooper and imperial crewmen battlepack this January.

It does checkout because usually if a faction has a large set in the summer, in the last couple of years they have gotten a battlepack the next January. (2022 AT TE was followed by 2023 501st specialist BP and 2023 CG Gunship was followed by 2024 droid vs clone BP.) It would also be able to tie-in with Andor S2.

That’s fair. I was at first disappointed about it not being a DS playset. But my disappointment has now evolved into excitement as I don’t own a ISD. I can’t wait for more details to be revealed. Especially about the interior.

Anyway. Any chances of the Anniversary sets being revealed tomorrow? I want to see that star destroyer and whatever the Jonk Coughing Baby’s set really is. I think there’s a small chance. Especially since the August Harry Potter, Mario, Sonic and Minecraft sets have now all been revealed.

Those among y'all who want just the interior (a la Bounty Hunter scene) are weird.

I'll admit, I was curious to see how the DS idea would've looked, but I, too, lack a capital ship, so I'm quite excited to see how they've improved on the 2014 model.

Also, with the bunker set looking like absolute filler, I don't imagine the Death Star would've had many fans (look at the reaction to Yavin IV, a set which I actually like).

If they ever do just the bridge of the ISD, I'd prefer a quote set over a system slot any day.

Have they ever revealed two separate waves in such quick succession though? They usually wait for one wave to drop at least before advertising the next one :laugh:The only exception I can think of was last year with the August and September waves, which were so close together they just had to reveal the latter before the former were released :shrug_oh_well:

I‘m expecting them to be featured in the 2HY catalogue (which is how the August waves in 2021 and 2023 were revealed/leaked), which would mean a reveal in early June.

Solid Brix has reviews up for the two Mandalorian sets. They look good but the Paz vs Gideon set is definitely too much money.

Also a little surprised that none of the figures in the BP have faces; they all just have plain black heads.

Completely agree with all of this.

Yavin is the only SW set I've seen on sale this soon after release- it's been on clearance at my Walmart for half a year now and I'm just waiting to see if it gets below $100. Only other SW sets I've ever seen on sale here are the AT-TE for $110 in January (and then they put the price back at $140 for the remaining copies immediately after I purchased mine) and the 332nd pack (Price set to $15 at release, so I don't count it because that makes me think an employee just didn't realize lego marked up the price.)

I know the Justifier hit some pretty bad sales, but I feel like it took longer than this, at least around me.

Why?? I thought that we were over this! Additionally, the Mando loyalists in the set are Clan Kryze, not Children of the Watch, so the black heads do not even make sense from a “helmet rule” standpoint! We should have gotten four generic heads (ideally two male and two female) that can be swapped among the Minifigs, as we have been getting for Stormtroopers.

Yeah, I feel with something like the Death Star you can either do singular rooms (the Throne Room diorama, the trash compactor diorama, the Final Duel etc) or you go full out and do an MBS set.

Lego updated the clues for the remaining anniversary figures. I pray that this is teasing a reveal of the anniversary sets tomorrow. Probably not though.
