KennoMonkey Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 The ornithopter is much faster, smaller and more maneuverable than the search and rescue helicopters currently in service with the City Coast Guard. It is a true VTOL aircraft--able to hover and even fly backwards. Obviously this craft is better suited to the "search" role of search and rescue. The design takes inspiration from the Apache helicopter with its big twin turbines and angular cockpit. Pontoons can be removed and landing legs are retractable. The legs are deliberately spindly looking to resemble a dragonfly. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Nice design and use for an ornithopter. The legs make me think of a comedic T-Rex. NPU with the old hinge pieces. Quote
KennoMonkey Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 Thanks for the props. I'm so new I had to look up NPU. What a nice compliment :] Quote
