Linking to leaked images is not allowed, thanks.

Plus we have no idea how the final thing will compare. It could be similar, or could have changed quite a bit.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. I apologise for this outrage

TBH, I think the set was cancelled

Since there is no information on the subject

Or it would probably emerge on lego.com first...

Yeah, that’s the last I heard. It does seem weird that we’re a month, maybe month and a half, out and we haven’t seen anything. Usually we’d see at least a minifigure part leak by now.

On a different note, James Gunn just revealed the new Superman logo (as well as a name change: SUPERMAN).

Given that this is meant to be the (theatrical) beginning of the DCU, and thus hopefully a pseudo-revival of DC in the public eye, I am hopeful that we’ll get a least a couple of sets for it.

Which blue do you think the Superman fig will be? The colors are dark in the photo, but I think regular blue is possible. And preferable, since Cavill Supes was already dark blue.

I disagree on Guy Gardner. The character should absolutely have dual-molded legs since he wears boots. (The same could be said for a large portion of super heroes to whom Lego nonetheless chooses to give plain legs: Superman, Cyclops, most Captain America minifigures, Captain Cold, and Reverse Flash to name just a handful.)

I also can’t see Lego shoving Guy Gardner in a polybag when he’s slated to appear in Superman next year. Either they’ll include him in a set or (more likely) just ignore the character altogether.

So while I do agree that, to portray him accurately he should have dual molding, I was speaking in a more practical sense, Lego loves to cheap out on Superhero printing. Jessica Drew, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart all need dual molding but didn't even get side leg printing. I was alluding to the sentiment that if he was hypothetically released, I understand he too would be produced in such a manner.

As for his film appearance, now that you mention it, this would make him an unlikely candidate for a polybag release anytime soon. Still, I stand by the general sentiment that throwing us a polybag to keep us excited should be something the company considers. If not him, are there any characters you'd like to see produced that could do without excessive moulding or printing (ala Martian Manhunter, Plastic Man, Clark Kent, and Trickster, the latter 2 appearing in DVD releases)?

Not necessarily for a polybag per se, but Black Adam, Heatwave, Mad Hatter, King Shark, and Raven are all at the top of the list of DC characters I’d like to see in Lego. I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen them yet given the amount of exposure they’ve all had in recent years. You can’t tell me Batman fighting a giant shark man isn’t going to appeal to the average 6-10 year old. After that, it’d be Zatanna, Spoiler, Mirror Master, Golden Glider, and Weather Wizard rounding out the top ten.

Buildable King Shark figure and keychain, take it or leave it.

King Shark is a shark!

Just thinking about potential Superman sets for next year, the one thing I really hope for is a new mask for Hawkgirl. The one she had in TLBM never did her look justice.

Wolverine's mask works pretty well as a purist solution for Hawkgirl. It's flame yellowish orange below, but now that his mask comes in yellow it can even help cut down on the (absurd) amount of colors the first Hawkgirl figure had. A more accurate mold, and getting it in gold, would be great though!

(This figure is only mostly purist--my TLBM Poison Ivy's torso was destroyed, so I ordered an extra while it was still going for reasonable prices on BL and removed the printing from an extra arm. Then the head is just Hermione's with a bit of the white margin from some sticker sheet over the eyes.)

I’m iffy on the Wolverine helmet. On the one hand, it’s better than what we got. On the other hand, I can’t look at it without thinking Wolverine. Which is exactly why I’d like a new piece.

Wouldn't surprise me if Lego came out with a statement: ''We decided to cancel the Gotham Skyline set because the Shadow Box didn't sell well and we noticed no one is buying our DC products and there is no demand for them''

Do we know how it sells? I know at least 3 people who bought it. I collect money for the BIGGEST Batcave ever!

It’s supposedly being retired by the end of the year, so it probably didn’t do well.

Batman Returns isn't very popular. This Box is too expensive. That's it

What's the point Cancelling it this late in production? Surely it has been designed, printed and parts created ready to go.
I know Indiana jones temple of doom set got cancelled last minute but I think that was because of religious depictions in the set.

But again I don't know much about the production cycle of Lego but never makes sense to cancel the month before apart from controversy which BTAS shouldn't have any.

The art set is the 1 set I'm excited for this year.
The only other thing is a new Batgirl and maybe the Batmobile but I'm pretty happy with the one from last year to need a new one.

*Sigh*

Recently, a reveal roughly two weeks ahead of release has emerged as a new pattern for D2C sets. So, no need to panic just yet  Leaks are never guaranteed and a lack thereof should not be interpreted as a sign for a set being cancelled or postponed. Just be patient!

Rivendell is very expensive but worth saving up for.

Maybe the shadow box is just not even worth saving up for.

I buy most super hero D2C’s but I just couldn’t get myself to get this one.

It's worth, but only for Batman Returns fans. I think it's safe to claim there aren't many of them.

Totally agree on Rivendell, though I am not interested in acquiring it

It is a Batcave. AND very nice one. You can MOC it quite easily. I am doing my own DC Batman universe where is a bit sci-fi. So that bat cave is perfect in that sense.

I am glad for you. But, speaking of me, if I MOCed a Batcave, it would've been the TNBA one. I could do it without the Box.

I agree that the Box is a great set. But it's not for everyone... There are lots of Lego sets that aren't for everyone. And it's sad they decided to retire the Box. Sad, but explainable...

I'm kind of surprised it's not on sale considering it's going to retire this year and is supposedly not selling well.

Really hoping we hear more details about the BTAS Batmobile and Art set.

It being a Batcave isn't enough of a selling point for me I'm afraid. The shadow box, the size, the price and the fact it is based on Batman Returns outweighed that. I regret not getting the 1966 Batcave, but this one just doesn't do it for me.

As a Batman Returns fan, I bought it, kept the minifigures, and sold off the rest. Personally, I think the thing looks ugly and I don’t want to put in the effort to modify it into a proper Batcave. I understand what they were going for with the Shadowbox, but it just isn’t for me. I really wish we had just gotten a big Batcave play set instead.
