Speaking of the bar being low, am I crazy for thinking this is the strongest Summer Wave we’ve had in a while??

No, you‘re right! Considering the last two Summer waves consisted of Batsy vs Harley as the sole set and three Jonkler vs Man sets and a buildable figure respectively, this is a huge step up :laugh_hard:

Now I am thinking Netflix because there is whole BTAS episodes. ALL OF THEM!!!

Netflix in UK also has Justice league, and Young Justice so they might have them there too, both are worth checking out and do feature the Joker and Batman. Green Lantern the Animated series is another DC cartoon I'd recommend though it has no Batman connections and isn't on Netflix ( at least not in the good old US of K  minus the s.)

( sorry mods for quoting the video, I didn't mean too but the phone controls aren't as good as on PC)

Batgirl from 2013 is goated and can't be done better.

Lies! Deception! ( I mean she's decent through personally I prefer the TLBM batgirl, though the fig I have on display is actually a mix of both)

And I do think they can do even better, I'd personally like a double moulded cowl with 2 colours of plastic ( one for the cowl itself and one for the hair), a blonde Stephanie brown batgirl would be nice too as would a Cassandra Cain 'Black Bat'.

Even when that character is Superman. It's not like it's an egg for an unreleased character.

Can't believe I missed that one.

Not long ago you were singing the praises of the Bat Pod set.

Love it or hate it, but Justice League quavered too much at the box office to propel the franchise forward in the same way the MCU did. Lego went all in on the sets for it and either they didn't sell well enough or the film's reception was enough to affect Lego's decision. When you consider how well Aquaman did and got one set and a tie-in, and that Shazam got a polybag figure and a tie-in cameo, and then the DCEU-Lego love-in died, it is unfortunate and annoying, but hopefully the rebooted franchise will revive confidence in it.

Ah a fellow Green Lantern fan. At last!
My desires:
Blue: Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Flash and most importantly Saint Walker!

White: Kyle Rayner, Hal Jordan and Sinestro.

Red: Bleez, Rankorr Atrocitus and Guy Gardner.

Orange: Larfleeze for this slot: “Mine!!”

Indigo: probably least likely but Indigo 1 and John Stewart

Star Sapphire: Carol Ferris, Wonder Woman and Superman.

Lanterns are probably the DC property (aside from Batman) that have the most set potential.

Yes to all of these, it's criminal that the only Non-green lantern they've made that isn't Sinestro is just a batman variant.Though I'd put Dex'Star and Razer above Rankorr but the more the merrier.

I must admit in terms of DC I'm a cartoon fan first comic fan second and whilst I have read quite a few green lantern comics I haven't read any with Kyle Rayner in a major role so I've not got that attachment to him but again the more the merrier ( though if they did make a white lantern Kyle Rayner I would swap out his head for a spare Sinestro head, though if it was an easy figure to get I'd just get 2).

I can agree that Saint Walker is the most important character on this list. ( After Kallus (Duh) and The Doctor, he's one of my all time favourite fictional characters. )

Yesterday I saw Tumbler, BIG 1, LIVE! .. I realised minifigure scale is my destiny.

I was just looking at the box art of the bat pod , and the back of the box looks like the scene from the Dark Knight where Batman is facing down and in deep thought after the explosion killed his girl, makes me think how many cool Diorama scenes they can make from the dark knight Trilogy.

The situation is this:

- James Gunn went to Marvel and we got 20 years 30-40 movies. AND hundreds of Marvel sets...

It is interesting BUT now that same guy is in DC. BUT I really hope they won't try to copy what they did on Marvel. A Movie from every superhero + movies where they are together. The Batman 2 is interesting because it can be even more successful than The Batman... MAYBE we could get 4-6 sets even...

...

Meanwhile look THEMES like: Marvel, Ninjago, Friends, City, Star Wars, Harry Potter and "year of SPACE" ,,,,,,,,, ouuhhh boy, what kind of sets. Even Technic. DC got the Shadow Box and then Gotham City Art set... and next month we will get BTAS Batmobile. That is about it.

New character arc

I think you might have to stop expecting consistency from our shelled friend here. The general batman premise seems to be the only throughline, much like this theme as a whole

All the themes you mentioned all sell better than DC. Ninjago, Space, Friends and City are Lego original themes that get larger waves because they don’t have a licensing cost that weighs them down.

Marvel. Is far more culturally relevant than DC at the moment because it’s got so much content going on at the moment. Therefore warrants more sets.

Can I ask you what the actual jonk you are smoking to think that Lego DC is comparable in popularity with the behemoth that is Star Wars? It must be some good stuff. Star Wars is what singlehandedly saved Lego from bankruptcy, DC is, I know I may upset some people here, just another Licensed theme that Lego picked up along the way. Star Wars also has far more set potential than DC. (as most Kids won’t recognise the obscure comic stuff) If you asked a Kid whether they recognise a niche bat mobile or an X-Wing more, they’re going to say X-Wing. Even during the golden age of Lego DC, Star Wars sold at least 3 times better. Star Wars will always be an Icon because it’s a cult classic in pop-culture. Superhero themes kinda depend on whether a Hero’s Movie does well or not. Hence why Marvel’s not been making as much sets for new releases as Infinity Saga.

Guardians of the Galaxy was 10 years ago. Guardians sets make up a very small percentage of the Marvel line.

If you think that a franchise based on a comic book universe is going to be different to a franchise based on a comic book universe, then I may have some bad news for you.

I get your general argument but this is a loaded statement. However most Batmobiles look like a car that Batman would drive, even the niche ones. If you want to make a fair comparison you have to put like for like.

Can't wait for the arc where he discovers the lego batman video games and defeats mister freeze (who, as we all know, was canonically defeated by "gamers" in an official batman comic.)

I'm saying! The buildable figure this year is accompanied by a buildable vehicle. Our one "regular set" has 3 figures and 1 of them is new, the other 2 only really available in a large D2C. And our D2C is one of the strongest in years, even if not technically part of this wave. I will say,  only 1 regular playset is kind of whack. I mean i would have loved 2-3 sets, which still feels like barely nothing. I think Ivy's pink car with the rosebud license plate would have been an easy cheap set for the Batman the Animated Series wave. I would have made the wave as follows;

  • Batmobile - Batman, Dick Grayson, Mr. Freeze
  • Ivy's Pink Car - Batman, Ivy, Museum Security guard/ cop
  • GCPD Showdown - Build being a cop car or two - Batman, Commissioner Gordon, Wilkes or standard cop, Killer Croc, Scarecrow
  • Batsignal - Batman, Harvey Bullock, Two- Face

I know we're not really supposed to do wish lists here, but yeah, can't shake the feeling that we really needed more than 1 set for this wave. I think a few cop cars and a batsignal with a decent figure selection would sell well. But what do i know.

Jokes aside, I think this is a pretty good and somewhat realistic idea, which is very neat for a change

Now we gotta come up with trademarketable names for this: Batman and Renee Montoya Versus Poison Ivy’s Convertable

That's too snappy. Maybe try and pad it out a bit.

We’ve gotten some new photos from instagram that show batgirl in higher detail. Seems like they just recolored the rebirth torso and added the keaton logo. I wouldn’t have minded a recolor of the rebirth torso, since it would’ve had a better gray color, better yellow color, and an accurate logo to BTAS. but alas.

they even kept the weird backpack strappes look, not sure what the point of that is, it just looks bad.

Wait a minute. Are we delving into a conspiracy theory of English Football teams being related to superheroes?!

If so… I would like to put forward Man United. I’m not actually a football fan. Am I stupid?

I’ll see myself out now.

I can't see why that'd happen. I'm not a Gooner myself but surely there's nothing dangerous about it, he just loves balls and the content that comes out from them. A classic footy mad dad
