I find it really weird that Nokt in the sets doesn't have a cape, even though he still has one in the series.

This season looks amazing, I really like where the story is heading.

Could be cause it would catch on the new spinners? That and having both shoulderpads and a cape might mean the head doesn't stay on right.

He never used both in the show though, so they wouldn't have encountered that issue. The shoulder pads seemed to just be instead of the cape for S3.

Oh well, at least I don't have to keep switching between the cape and shoulder pads now since the shoulder pads seem to be completely non-canon. I wonder if maybe Rox will have the cape, and they wanted them all to have unique accessories and so didn't want Nokt to have it as well (although Rox and Kur have the same hat so this is probably wrong).

The Workshops look pretty awesome! I bought all the Ninjago City sets up until the Gardens and will most likely buy this. That said, I still feel like the Gardens set was the last Ninjago City model that felt truly mindblowing.

I'm surprised there haven't been more posts talking about the workshops! I think it looks pretty spectacular, love how the mech is integrated, definitely good that there's a more affordable option for the City modulars available.

On the contrary, I'm of the opinion that the Gardens and Markets are the best ones so far, with the two movie ones both seeming a bit underwhelming by comparison. I'd probably even go as far as to say that the Workshops are my 3rd favourite.

The workshop has lackluster minifigures (especially that puppet) it just feels like a skip for me

the build is fine but I probably shouldn’t be too worried on buying this set overall

This is fair, it definitely could have done with more minifigures, and better ones at that. And, to be frank, I'm not planning on buying it either, I just think it looks pretty good for what it is, haha.

£220 for the workshops in the UK

I agree that the figs (whilst the 4 new and exclusive ones are cool) are a little underwhelming. But that's not enough to kill the set for me, given that it's a set that's definitely more about the build than the figs.

But yeah looking at the figs 10 is a low number, and none of the new ones have leg prints ( whereas show Harumi and Larow definitely do, show Doroma is glittery but I don't know how well that would work, it's something I've only seen them do on trans parts) every other city module has had an exclusive ninja variant and some more Ninjago themed civilians with new Ninjagoan civilian torsos in every other set. But I do like this and I like the new characters they've just not quite reached the high bar set by the others. Though I have to give a special shout-out to the dragonian tourist, yes he's all existing parts but he's a fun inclusion and it's nice to see a non-human civilian represented, Ninjago has had those for a while ( Skales Junior anyone) and now even moreso with the merge so it's nice to see the sets follow suit.

It is the second cheapest though and Docks would probably cost more than this if it released this year so it not reaching the same bar is understandable in some ways. Overall I do quite like it, leaks are unfortunate sometimes as I do think character wise I'd have liked the Ninjago city Crossroads characters more.

Still the build looks incredible. It's definitely my favourite out of the march sets.

It’s a small thing but I appreciate the shirtless Zane from the small mech set being here, makes it easier to cross that smaller set off my wishlist since it wasn’t my favorite but I wanted the fig.

Even with my hatred for the set I do like twitchy’s mech (without its skirt tf?), the mini Cole mech and Harumi ofc, I just despise some of the figures that aren’t exclusive and since it has only 10 minifigures why are there civilians? Like come on lego

Are you saying the skirt is good or bad? I much prefer the look of it fully completed with all of the yellow and teal pieces personally, although I do appreciate how you can take them off and use the crane to put it all together.

I just like it better without the skirt it looks a bit strange as if they trying to fit in a reference

Once again, I feel like a Ninjago City set without civilian figs would be terrible. You need at least a few normal people to staff/populate the various facilities, not just heroes and villains. The civilian figs here aren't all my favorites (I wish the restaurant chef had a more distinctive or traditional outfit like some of the old-world figs in earlier sets, for instance), but I really appreciate the warehouse worker (who plays a vital role that isn't occupied by any other figs here), and replacing all the civilians with random show characters wouldn't be an improvement as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think the show characters are a problem if they work as civilians too, but I definitely get what you mean since a lot of show characters just don't fill in the kinds of gaps in roles that the generic civilians do. If anything, I would rather they don't include main characters that are already available elsewhere, but I'm sure they're more included for budget reasons (plus it would be kind of weird for the largest Ninjago set of the year to not include a ninja). I think Zane and Pixal are logical inclusions given the subject matter of this set too, it's just a little disappointing since there are relatively few minifigures included to begin with.

Yeah you do need civilians for a city, the problem with this lot is that they're basically just random Lego City figures. I know we can't expect a new torso print on every character but it you look at some of the civilians from previous sets they're a bit more special. Like the Lloyd fans in Gardens and Ninjago City, or the tea shop owner in the Markets, or the ice planet ice cream guy. I think you get what I mean since you said your self that these aren't all favourites.

There are definitely show characters who work well enough as civilians especially shopkeepers, like Mother Doomsday who had his comicbook store in the first Ninjago city or even Ronin with his pawnshop in the Gardens. Kreel's Junk shop would be a good inclusion in the next one, or Freudlian's antiques.

I've just seen the City Markets set is due to retire this year? Is that still the current thinking? Will need to plan for that as I haven't picked that up yet!

I'd heard December 2026, but that could be wrong. Though it would make sense for it to have a good overlap with the new one as they like to advertise that they connect. Gardens was out for  3 years and bit so I can imagine 2026 would make sense as being about the same length of time.

I did end up paying a premium on the first two ninjago city sets because I couldn't afford them until after they'd retired. It is a great set and I can understand not wanting to miss it.

But Lego.com will put a retiring soon label out when it's near the time, so if you keep your ear to the ground you'll know, so there's no need to panic buy.

Thanks for your reply. It struck me as quite soon which is why I wanted to check. Brick fanatics have it as going this year, but appreciate these things change. https://www.brickfanatics.com/every-lego-set-retiring-this-year-and-beyond/#retiring-ninjago-sets

I picked up the gardens on discount from lego in 2023 so hopefully the markets will get the same treatment at black friday.

I might have aired this idea already but next year is Ninjago's 15 anniversary and I think they'll want to to commemorate it with a special set.

Given that they're making a new City Module this year my guess is that they might do a D2C monastery of spinjitsu. It's a very important location in many of the seasons all the way from pilot to Dragons rising and yet they've barely covered it what with one legacy set and a few spinners arenas in the first 2 years and pretty much nothing else. And now they've got a samurai X cave and portal gate under the monastery so they could have it be on the peak with all that beneath it ( a bit like the cave in the tournament temple city set). This could work to be both a piece of the shows history and relevant to the current show. I suppose they could also do a large Destiny's Bounty but that would feel redundant with one listed in the 2025 line up.

Mostly sounds like a "safe" wave, but I'll reserve judgment until we've seen it. Honestly though I'm too much of a Zane fan not to get his mech unless it's really disappointing, so that's at least one set I'll be picking up !

The big Zane mech was for January 1st, hehe.

I do wonder when we'll see the June sets though. I reckon that trying to get the other 3 Forbidden Five members is probably what'll guide my purchases, which is slightly annoying, but I do need them so likeee

Yeah I'm hoping Kur will come with the magazine because the only Summer sets that I'm thinking of getting are the Rontu set and the mech dragon. Pictures could change all that though!

I love the Workshops but a few things are taking away from it. As mentioned the minifig lineup leaves quite a bit to be desired. Two generic City torsos is pretty lame in this set. That chef is a joke & they could’ve at least Ninjago’d the construction worker like they did the cameraman in Markets.

I appreciate the departure from the usual locales of the series so far but it doesn’t really work with the old world that the previous ones showed. Industrial & feudal Japan don’t exactly mesh well. The right side building looks great but the garage door takes away from that feel.

I also love the Mech aspect of this set. It reminds me of the real life Gundam(which I sadly never got to see).

I wish we could get a new updated monastery set, it sucks that we haven’t gotten one since 2019.
