miken_mocs Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Hi, this is my second MOC and first Ninjago City module. It’s a 32x32 baseplate with a height of 75 cm (2.5 feet) and a piece count of around 6500. Features: A large, lavish hotel with a "Ninjago Movie-esque" sign written in ninjargon (it simply says "HOTEL") A beach with an ice cream shop and springboard "I ❤️ NC" souvenir stand where you can buy ninja figurines, shirts, plush toys and more Thai restaurant with outdoor seating Air scooter rental (inspired by the jewelry thief from Ninjago City Gardens) Quote
Feuer Zug Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Good looking build. Lots of details. Does the hotel have interiors for the rooms? I love the expression of the guy on the air scooter. Quote

Only the bottom floor foyer of the hotel is decorated (reception desk, elevator, chandeliers, potted flowers etc) but I might add more if this ever makes it to a convention. Quote
Lyichir Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Very fun! I love the brick-built lettering on the hotel! Quote

The sign was actually the thing that initiated this build. The movie version of Ninjago City is full of huge signs on the buildings but the official sets lack them altogether. Quote
Grin Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Love how the clean look and the color palette return that manga feeling that this subject deserves. Great job! Quote
miken_mocs Posted September 5, 2024 Author Posted September 5, 2024 Thanks @Grin! Even though Ninjago City is supposed to be a chaotic, bustling metropolis, I find that it helps to chunk up this kind of large, busy build with the help of color for it to not be perceived as cluttered. Especially when this is only a fraction of the total city footprint as in the case of my, and most other Lego cities (pardon the lack of pictures of it in context, I’ll add some once I’ve taken proper pictures). miken_mocs Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 (edited) My Ninjago city went to its first convention a couple of weeks back. Here’s some pictures showing Ninjago City Resorts next to my others MOCs (the two 32x32 baseplates left of it + the pavilion bridge). The other parts of the city is made up of official sets, modified sets, water baseplates and a MOC from Rebrickable (Ninjago City Expansion 2 by brickgloria). Total size is about 45000 bricks and 128x128 studs. Edited April 24 by miken_mocs Fix images Quote
