Lawstone — A Western Town Heist (BDP Series 8)

Hi folks! 

I’m excited to share my latest Western MOC with you and give you a little insight into how it came together. I’d really appreciate your comments, shares, and support—especially since this build is also part of the BDP Series 8! Spoiler alert: Jump straight to the project here!

Ever since I was a kid, the Wild West has fascinated me — the dusty streets, the sheriffs, the outlaws, the endless adventures. Unfortunately, when LEGO released their original Western sets, I somehow missed out on them. For years, the theme stayed in the back of my mind — always something I wished I had been part of.

In 2011, I finally decided to change that. I built my very first Modular Western Town.

It was a true passion project, originally created for a contest right here on Eurobricks. When I shared it online, the response was overwhelming. The encouragement was so strong that I took a chance and submitted it to LEGO Ideas (still known as CUUSOO at the time). I could hardly believe it when the project actually reached 10,000 supporters!

Connecting with LEGO designers and even seeing an early prototype of my model felt like a dream come true. But, as it sometimes goes, the journey ended sooner than I had hoped: LEGO ultimately decided not to move forward with it due to their licensing agreement with Disney for The Lone Ranger theme. It was a bit of a heartbreak—but also an experience I’ll always be grateful for.

 

 

Rogue Frontier – Bricking Bavaria
A few years later, I had another opportunity to return to the Wild West. I joined the RogueBricks collaboration for Bricking Bavaria, contributing to the “Rogue Frontier” layout—a small fishing village set in the Old West. Once again, I felt that familiar spark and realized how deeply this theme still inspires me. I was especially drawn to the color combination of sand green, dark red, and sand blue used for the three main buildings. In my opinion, this palette brings the scene to life while still feeling grounded and historically appropriate for the setting.

 

 

And so, The Old West: “Lawstone” — A Western Town Heist was born.

I decided to give the theme one more shot. The BrickLink Designer Program felt like the perfect opportunity to bring all my favorite ideas together in one fun and detailed project. I revisited earlier concepts and refined them—focusing on building experience, playful features, and storytelling. If you want to explore all the details, I encourage you to visit my Project Page.

Drawing on everything I had learned from my previous projects, I designed a brand-new Western town that includes subtle nods to both of my earlier builds. What I love about the BrickLink Designer Program is that it truly gives you the freedom to bring your own vision to life.
