Auroralampinen Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Well, i wasn't planning on joining contest. But, since i had an idea before hand, to build some kind of motorized track vehicle. I decided to join as well:). Here is progress so far. I wanted to build an excavator, but one night i got an idea to build something different entirely, with the same chassis that i was builded before hand. So, i decided to make this an modernized and motorized version of the 8294 b model. Functions. Independently controlled tracks, Superstructure rotation, Dumping. Power functions elements. 1x, XL motor 1x, battery box Progress so far:). Video showing this moving:). Ps... This was my first working tracked vehicle ever. My previous attemps(before the dark ages) were failures. But now, i have got a working tracked vehicle:). Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 21 Posted May 21 It looks rather unstable with the short tracks, especially when dumping. Quote

Load capasity(without tipping over) 300g load capasity(with tipping over problem) over 1kg. Wow, i might now make the tracks longer. Because this is some serious lifting capasity:). Well, i did put some counterweights. And wow, this can handle 1kg load:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 In case you are wondering the size. Here is the Tracked Outback Dumper, next to Sunnyside Beachshark GTR:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Well, i have to say this is really fun to play with. Its not 42055 slow. Its perfect. And while this seems unstable, im engineering this to bee perfectly balanced. And im already achieved that. This is not back heavy or front heavy. And im happy with 300g lifting capasity. It should be enought for lego pieces dumping:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Well, a ton of bodywork sculpting later:). Here is underside view:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Well, now the interior is done. There is a lot of details, there is fire extinguisher, 2 steering wheels(one for driver. And one for the dump bed operator, to turn the superstructure), and pedals for driver:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Allright, this can now handle 1kg load without counterweights:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Well, now this has much beefier tracks. And now the movement is much smoother than before:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Well, i spended this morning just to fix the superstructure rotation. Because it was not smooth with those new tracks. Now this can handle with ease 1kg load:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Here is new track drivetrain, wich works much better than the original drivetrain. And im really happy that this works, because my previous attemps to make tracked models. Didn't work, so its great that i have made huge improvements from dark ages to modern times:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Im starting to feel really satisfied with the looks. I wanted this to have some utilitarian look. And this look really satisfies me:). I wish i had the 42100 liebherr. I really think this is perfect pair for the 42100:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Im really happy with my door design, they look really good:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Well, a ton of hood sculpting later. Now it looks really good:). And underneath there are spare tracks:). Well, im now really really happy and proud of my self. This looks so good. This has to be in top 5 mocs what i have created and designed:). And in case you have questions about durability. I build my mocs as strong as possible, so my mocs can mostly handle roughest of the playing abuse. So no need to worry about durability. I test everything to mostly perfection:). Quote
Timewhatistime Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I have doubt that the driving rings will engage properly due to the restricted space for the levers. Quote

Yes, they work perfectly fine. I have maked sure that they will work:). (and yes, im still fine tuning the superstructure rotation. So don't worry, the release model will rotate smoothly:). ). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 Well, i have again started building new chassis. Now its constructed like on 42055. Hopefully this will alleviate all issues with not smooth superstructure rotation:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 (edited) Well, now the superstructure rotation works:). (ps... And yes, it tooks 2 min to rotate this fully. But i want to play safe. And this cannot be faster, so i speeded up the video to 5x:).) Edited May 24 by Auroralampinen Added video link Quote
Auroralampinen Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 (edited) Well, i probably have to take a break. I have now builded this 4-5 days, and almost 12 hours of building straight everyday. Ahh the good passion to technic. Time flyes so fast when im building, and i cannot get my self off the building table;). Edited May 24 by Auroralampinen Quote
