JopieK Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I have that 6339 set... a bit dissappointing, but it looks great in a city layout. There are currently no sets that i have on my wishlist that are already out there. Maybe a complex 12V train layout, but with the 2009 trains all our problems will be solved right? :) Right indeed and we all will also make a shift from donating all our money to TLC -> Duracell I'm afraid... I'm going to ask my collegues at the School of Engineering and Design to make me some nice LEGO wheels from metal so I can make the RC train motors running on DCC too. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 6316 & 6317 - they don't make sets like that anymore... 6590 - rumors of a city camper for 2009 have been spreading, will it be able to top this set? 6355 - I have allways loved that set, and I will try and get it somewhere to fit with farm 2009. 1490 - Best bank ever... I love the doors. 6376/10037 - I was never able to get the Legend. 6399 - Best set of all time! This one deserves to be reborn! Dr. Brick Quote

Let's put some pictures to these, so others can see how terrific these sets are: 6316 Flags & Fences - 1988 6317 Trees & Flowers - 1988 6590 Vacation Camper - 1988 Close, but no cigar - unless you like horses 6355 Dirby Trotter - 1989 1490 Lego Bank - 1990 I love that armored car! 6376/10037 Breezeway Cafe - 1990/2002 6399 Monorail pictured earlier in this thread. Some great picks here Dr. B. I esp. like the dirby set! Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I always wanted to have that decoupler set. After our dark ages we bought one and it turned out that the set wasn't that useful at all. When we started with the sticker business I recreated a lot of rare sets: (actually also bought one original version) Wow, I have never seen these 2 before. These are fantastic Quote
JopieK Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Wow, I have never seen these 2 before. These are fantastic Well we don't have the stickers in our store but we should have them somewhere. The large doors in the Arla set are the only difficult parts. I actually forgot to mention this one: The only problem with that truck is that the wheels are quite wide (but that's nothing if you compare it to the LEGO city monster trucks of today). Quote
SalvoBrick Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The set I always wanted when I was a child is from the pre-minifig era... It's the set 355, one of the latest examples of "town plans": Quote
legotrainfan Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The three classic town sets I'd like to have most are 6399 Airport Shuttle, 6394 Metro Park & Service Tower and 4554 Metro Station. There are some other classic town sets I'd like to have, but there are none that I'd like as much as those three. Quote

WRONG! i also read we can use the current lego transformer to charge-up our trains. i guess that you just can buy a charging station (like the train-washers they use on real-life train-tracks) where you can 'dock' your train for charging. but then again if this new setup is supposed to be so good i wonder how they are powering the train signs, car-crossings, lights, and more. i was actually hoping for a system similar to the 12V series, with a expandable control panel. anyway no city can do without a monorail, maybe they can release something like the 6339 again Edited August 25, 2008 by Crazydance Quote
