Captain Dee Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 That's one massive army! The footmen (infantry) is impressive but those mounted knights are mind-boggling! Someone is going to have an epic battle with all those... Quote
LegoFanfromPR Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I'll assemble the opposing army soon. Maybe will post it on Sunday, as for today (Saturday) I sleep in the morning and work evening and graveyard shift. Quote
sahidko Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Not shown in the movies but Dwarfs were also part of Last Alliance forces (some fought on Sauron's side too): Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Army building is impressive, mostly because of the money involved. I'd love to dive into it, but I can't justify that many figures of similar looking people when there are so many bricks I need for projects... With that said, that Orc army is impressive. I only have what came in sets, so 20 maybe? I would like to catch up to that. And the Dwarf army will be neat to see since we don't see too many of them around here. Those dark green torsos will be expensive to army build (I would think). Quote
Balbo Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Wow, that's a massive army . Especially the soldiers with the golden armour look fantastic Quote
Rogue Angel Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Army building is more than just a show of a collection for some builders (although I think that is a major factor for some collectors). Army building often comes in to play once a decent collection is amassed. At this point, I can build better models than most of the sets that TLG puts out, but it's the figures that I need for scenes. If you don't build with a lot of figures, than army building has a lot less value. I try to base my fig collecting numbers off of what I would expect to need in a build. I typically pick up 10-30 for CMFs that are from new eras/races, while it's more in the 20-50 range for factions. I try to go for most every new historic faction/CMF, so I have to limit how much I buy, but some people that are focused (say Spartans or Romans) may want to invest that same amount of money in 100 or 200 of a specific couple of figs and then use those in big builds. It's all in what you want to use them for. Quote
LegoFanfromPR Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 The Dragon King has amassed legions of wild men, armored uruks, monstrous goblin/trolls, fire drakes and two death warlocks. Having destroyed the Elven cities of the Northwest, Der Golad, the human kingdom of the North is next. The walls are tall, the defenders determined, but little can be done against so much power. The Dragon King will rule them all. LegoFanfromPR Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I'm done army building. I'll focus now on upgrading my building skills. Maybe build a small village for my kingdom. Quote
richchie Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Since TLC started LOTR and Hobbbit theme, my goal was to create orcs army. I decided to build also some terain , not just buy minifigures and put them on baseplates. Also i did not want to have some kind of clone army. So I try to make as many variants of orcs warriors as I can. From the pictures that I put here you probably can not see the variance of soldiers, but I promise to make more photos of detailed orcs in my army soon. The whole MOC consists of 4 parts. Each part is 2 baseplates 32x32, so the total size is 64x128. I decided to make the MOC this way, because of easy transportation. Total number of orcs in my MOC is 158 minifigures (and 22 wargs) + 2 cavetroll my orcs army in numbers: 1x Azog 2x flagholders in front of army 130x infantry (100 mordor orcs + 30 moria orcs) 2x balista + 4 orcs as balista stuff 21x riders on wargs 2x cavetroll SO hope you will like my army, here are some pictures : OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by richchie, on Flickr OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by richchie, on Flickr P4230024 by richchie, on Flickr P4230022 by richchie, on Flickr OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by richchie, on Flickr Quote

Captain Dee Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Dad-gum! LOTR and the Hobbit aren't my thing but that is one serious orc army. That's also one of the best army bases I've ever seen. You could stage some epic battles... if they find a suitable enemy! Quote
Wout Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 nice army, Maybe you can use the goblinhood from the Collectible minifigures too for some green orcs. The colour green is just a little bit different. Quote
richchie Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 thanks for all comments :-) I am very happy that you like my army. about that golin torso - i was thnking about it but it looks too fairy tale o me,but maybe I will change my opinion Quote
LegoFanfromPR Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I spammed my armored uruks b/c they were $1.00 @ Kmart a year ago. Bought 120 of them. Still available but $2-4 each Quote

Deathleech Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 It's nice to see some other LotR/Hobbit armies besides just Uruk-hai. That was all we saw for awhile there. I just ordered another 30 Hobbit Orcs (10 from the Bo5A set and 20 braided ponytail ones from Attack on Lake-town). When I get them I will have to post some updated pictures. Quote
