Algernon Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Yep I was originally very iffy on this theme (the first pic that was leaked is still the least appealing set in my opinion) but now that we have all of this detail I have to say that I'm more excited for this theme than pretty much everything else slated for 2010. Besides maybe Prince of Persia. I love most of the vehicles (red or not, this color scheme is far superior to Power Miners), I love the Atlantian creatures, and I love the figs from both sides. To be honest Space Police is looking far less interesting to me than this theme. (I always did love Aquanauts). Quote
NorthernKnight Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Cthulhu has risen! The world will now be plunged into madness and chaos! Arrrgh! Indeed, it looks like we'll get a giant sqid and a guy with a octopus-mask in the same set. I foresee an abundance of Cthulhu MOCs in 2010. Quote
ForceMaster Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Batbrick, really? WHTAAAAAANGG!!11 I think that will be more than three monsters. Any thoughts?) Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Batbrick, really? WHTAAAAAANGG!!11 I think that will be more than three monsters. Any thoughts?) I'm sure it will be like Power Miners and that they will add more with the next wave, if there is a next wave. But it looks like that there are only three main "bad guys" right now and then the evil giant sea creatures. :) Quote
mikey Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 The underwater scooter I'll echo as a great looking set, I love the fact that I get two more grapple hook pieces. Very true. The first time I have seen Flick Fire Missiles and thought, mnnnn nice parts! Quote
Batbrick Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Indeed, it looks like we'll get a giant sqid and a guy with a octopus-mask in the same set. I foresee an abundance of Cthulhu MOCs in 2010. Oh yeah, I'll definitely be joining in on that craze. The giant squid looks great too, I love its mouth. I was so excited about this theme the other day that I rebuilt my awesome Aquaraiders Giant Squid in preparation for having a small army of them! :skull: Batbrick, really? WHTAAAAAANGG!!11 Huh? Yes I think there will be more monsters. I'm not interested in the shark that much though, but I'll need to see better pics. Very true. The first time I have seen Flick Fire Missiles and thought, mnnnn nice parts! Oh yes, I hope this trend continues, I love those pieces. Batbrick Away! Quote
user Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 But it looks like that there are only three main "bad guys" right now and then the evil giant sea creatures. :) Did you look on Neptune's sub? There is some sort of black minifig creature in it. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I really like the sea monsters, with the exception of the shark guy. The others look menacing (as far as Minifigs can) and rather creepy. Shark guy, on the other hand. (I shall name him George) - just looks like a bloke with a shark hat on. Maybe it'll change when I see him closer up but...not at the moment. It actually reminds me of something - if anyones interested, watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mac73rR_eAg this video - it's an awful song, but features a cameo from the shark man!* Though that song may destroy your brains. But I wont get too off topic Will/Rocketbilly * sort of Quote
---Vertea--- Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I'd like to see an eel monster... we have yet to see naything of that sort. Either that, or an angler fish Quote
user Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I'd like to see an eel monster... we have yet to see naything of that sort. Either that, or an angler fish Huh that's really funny. In my atlantis project I started a few months ago I have already built both a mutant/cyborg eel and angler fish! Quote

So then are the other squidguys different? Quote

M. Lupin Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I probably won't spend too much money on this theme. The Cthulhu fig looks great! The Bricklink prices will be insane, though. I'll have to get at least that set. The shark head looks good for an pirate islander temple priest person and the golden gate can be used for... LEGO Heaven! :pir-skull: Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn :pir-skull: Thanks for everyone who has posted pics! Quote
Spyder Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Just wanted to pop in here and ask if anybody's seen these pics? Quote
Etzel Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Just wanted to pop in here and ask if anybody's seen these pics? Yes, they've been around for a while but I think that's the only pics we have that shows all of the sets. Quote
Spyder Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Yes, they've been around for a while but I think that's the only pics we have that shows all of the sets. Good to know I've been at least a little helpful today! This theme is actually looking great now that we've got more than that little picture we first got to judge it on. Quote
Oky Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Thanks for the info, wout. I'm very happy that there will be an impulse set for the bad guys too! Can't wait to army build some manta people! But what do you mean by "squidguy"? Could you please descrbe that set a bit for us? And I agree that it's pretty disappointing and strange that a set with "shipwreck" in the title doesn't include a shipwreck. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Thanks for the new pics! Looks like I will at least be picking up the cheaper sets. Quote
-JD- Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I am very happy that LEGO brought back that awesome shark head! I will get the set with him no matter what the cost! The smallish sets look promising too. Quote
JCC1004 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Thanks for the pictures ForceMaster! How many times have I said that? I'll be getting alot of these for sure. If Indy is on hold next year I think I'll be collcting Atlantis instead. Quote
Wout Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 @ Vertea: "Squidporch"is a poorly translated version of Pijlinktvispoort, as it is called in Dutch dealer catalog. It has Chutulu guy, the other squidguys are a bit different, they are the guys in the big pic of Spyders link, quoated by Etzel @ Oki Wan Kenobi: Squidguy(s) is(are) fig(s) who, I think are minions of the Chutulu Guy, not a set. Quote
TheShnomon Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Not trying to be disrespectful to any members here, but what's up with all the hype about Cthulhu? He's no big deal, and personally I've always found him kind of boring and highly overrated and overused. But I won't lie, this theme does look like it was inspired a bit by Lovecraft and his works, at least the monsters do. I'd also like some clarification over the "squidguy" thing. When you say squidguy do you mean the blue stingray head guy or the red squidking? I just can't see them putting squidking in a impulse. Although it'd be sweet as hell, it's unrealistic, it'd be like putting a Skull Twin or the Troll King in an impulse. Quote
ForceMaster Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 JCC1004, m-m-m... more 5, I think) Wout, in sets of more than three minifigures of monsters? Quote
