Godtshep Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I watched Red Dragon the other day (the Hannibal spin-off). Very good. The Tooth Fairy is a great villain but I think Hannibal Lecter is the one who outshines the rest. Grade: A Also watched Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (or the first 45 minutes-I couldn't sit through the rest!). Very disappointed. The characters were far less interesting than in the first AVP film and it was way too dark visually. Grade: E Then I finished watching Hellboy-great comic book film. Grade: A Then on Friday I saw Fort Apache. Pretty good, but a bit long and not enough action. Grade: B Then yesterday I watched the Matrix Reloaded. A bit underwhelming when compared to the Original, but some great action scenes. Grade: B- Soon I plan to see Elektra, Shawshank Redemption and Matrix Revolutions. Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. It was certainly different to what I have come to expect from a Disney film, but that isn't to call it bad. It's actually really good, with a very good sound track and excellent main characters. Definitely one of the more under-rated Disney films out there. Quote
Artanis I Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If you pick one of the four transformers movies to watch I saw TF4 this fourth movie It is the 5th. And the only one that matters is the 1st one. "The Transformers - The Movie" from 1986. Quote
K-Nut Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Finally got around to watching Casino Royale. Such a wonderful movie! Daniel Craig did a wonderful job, and Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen were great too. Also saw Transformers 4 the other day. Personally, I was not a fan. None of the characters really interested me and the plot lacked. By the last half hour of the film I honestly didn't care how it ended. There was also too much going on and too many different villains. If you like lots of action and cool visuals, though, there are some cool ones in the film. Quote
Zzz Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I believe I watched one of the Transformers movies and I honestly couldn't tell what it was about. And I usually remember things. Anyway, I watched The Assassination of Jesse James ... and I was pretty surprised how good it was. Quote
Ultron Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 The Croods- Not that bad. Gets a little lost in the middle due to some failed comedic elements, but I really liked the ending. How to Train Your Dragon 2- Very good. Would've liked it more had someone not completely spoiled it for me online...need to see it again. Eagerly anticipate the third movie. The Fault in Our Stars- I'm not one for romance movies or novels but this was decently good. Almost made me cry. Almost. Quote
Kez Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I watched the new film called Chef, I found the casting to be superb and the dialogue in parts was hilarious. With a good plot like this I couldn't see why this film doesn't deserve a 10/10 Quote
adotnamedstud Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Not really wanting to watch TF4 or any other TF movie again, but I think it was a great idea to ditch all the people from the first 3 movies. I've seen the first 2 and a portion of the 3rd, but the plots were really predictable yet it just kinda got worse as the movies progressed down the line. That being said. I recently had a Batman and Spiderman marathon which was really neat watching all the movies in multiple sittings. I skipped Batman Forever/Batman and Robin because I never did/want to buy the Blu-rays for them. I'm pretty glad seeing they only air those two on ABC Family which is saying something because I don't believe any Batman movie hasn't been respectively aired at only certain times other than Joel Shumacher's. (Off topic) I'd really like to see what Tim Burton would've brought to the table with a trilogy or saga of Batman movies... Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Watched Disney's version of Robin Hood today for the first time in years. It's an interesting take on the classic tale but a good one nonetheless, especially with the usual touch of Disney magic applied to it. Quote
Godtshep Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 V For Vendetta. Great film. Loved the ending and action scenes. Grade: A+ Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Now I've watched Disney's Aladdin and Mulan, both for the first time. Both are very good films, though certainly not Disney' best. However, Robin Williams as the genie in Aladdin is an absolutely spectacular and hilarious performance, and Eddie Murphy as Mushu in Mulan is similarly good. Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Last I saw would be Maleficent. Pretty good ending up till the end; I felt like they copped out on it in order to have a HAPPILY EVER AFTER ending. Quote

Im a brickmaster. Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 The new RoboCop on DVD. It was OK for a reboot. I thought the Sam Jackson character was a MegaBlock. I saw it in theaters with my friends when it came out. I tried watching the original before hand, and I made it through about 5minutes before I decided I couldn't do it! Who wants to watch something like that in this day and age? Anyho, I liked the new one a lot. The story trumps anything the original had. Considering the advancements that are being made in medical science today and the fact this movie takes place just 14 years in the future, everything that happens to Alex is frighteningly possible. It's just a sad, scary story. The action scenes were great, nice and frantic. People try and hate on it because its not the original, but even the director himself stated in an interview that it would be silly to remake the old one. What did you think? Quote
montgocloud Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I just saw Snowpiercer! Wow, what a film. Criminally undermarketed and suffering from a sort-of-but-not-really-wide release. It is an ambitiously imaginative dystopian thriller from director Joon Ho-Bong. He really shows his knowhow of storytelling and worldbuilding in the film medium with Snowpiercer. He throws you into a radical world and dulls out the specifics little by little, so not only are you watching a nail-biting thriller, but you're also piecing together how this world works. It's filmmaking at its finest. It isn't for everyone, though. Graphic violence and ideas are found throughout. But if you don't mind that sort of thing, find this movie AT ALL COSTS. It's one to see on the big screen. Quote
Oky Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter? You know, I could actually see those two playing Joker and Harley... Not very well, if I might add. I saw the remake in the theater too, but unlike you, I did watch the original all the way through the day before, and I think the original is far superior. If you had watched it, you would know that. Yes, it is dated and yes, remakes should be more than just remakes of the original, but the original accomplished so much more than the remake did. I do like what they were going for with the story in the remake, but it was so unsubtle and badly executed that it just didn't work. The acting was mediocre and the supporting characters were boring and useless. As for the action, it was very lacking, not just compared to the original, but action movies in general. Ultimately, there was nothing memorable about the remake whereas the original will always be remembered for it's great characters, themes, and action scenes. Quote

I don't want to start a war here, so I will agree to complete disagree! But I don't get how the acting was bad, as in actor my self I though it was above average. It was defiantly better then Toby Migure as Peter Parker... Quote
Artanis I Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I only watched it once (and have no real intention to watch it again) so I couldn't give as strong an opinion, but I would watch the originals again. The special effects were excellent on the new one, but that's not exactly uncommon these days. I can handle a metal chicken laughably falling down the stairs, plus the end death made far more sense in the original. Quote
Brickus Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Transformers: Age of Extinction. I was entertained for 3 hours. Quote
Godtshep Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes the other day. Very good film. Grade: A- Tomorrow I'm going to see Transformers 4. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Disney's Lilo And Stitch. Frankly, I didn't expect much of anything from this, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually very good. Definitely another underrated Disney master class. Quote
Kez Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Just happened to watch Resovoir Dogs, it was a great film coming from one of the best directors around. I've also watched plenty more films quite recently www.imdb.com/user/ur49071342/ratings however I plan on watching Dawn of the Planet of the Apes next week, I can't wait. Quote
Ultron Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Saw Transformers 4 yesterday. I went in with quite low expectations because of the reviews and everything, but I didn't think it was that bad. Of course, it was visually stunning and the battle scenes were fantastic. However, it could've been better. I know you shouldn't expect much from a Michael Bay movie, but some things just bothered me. The dialogue was incredibly weak at some parts and it made me cringe. The acting was usually decent but the irish guy or whatever he was needed to die. He was so annoying and I hope to god he isn't returning for the next ones. The girl was literally invented to be a damsel in distress and that really annoyed me. She made so many stupid decisions. Especially in that highway scene! Why would she get in the car and not run!?! Why can't Bay create smart and BA female main characters? Is it so hard to not objectify them whenever the opportunity presents itself? Whatever, the asian girl was cool at least although I found it strange that she randomly knew karate. Apparently all asian people do as well according to the movie...And the Samurai autobot was pushing it. He did not need to speak in a haiku. That's just too much. Anyway, the Dinobots were clearly the highlight of the movie although I still don't understand why Optimus didn't summon them sooner when they were literally right on his ship. Hopefully they reappear in future installments. Also, when Optimus could fly in the end I failed to see why he couldn't have used those boosters earlier on? That would've helped them SO MUCH! Poor storytelling, Michael Bay. We should not have to answer our own questions as to why the leader autobot isn't using something that would clearly help them. Also, I'm a little tired of Optimus Prime always getting his butt kicked and he's on the verge of dying, then he comes back and kicks everyones butt. That happens in every movie. It was a tad too long and the movie theater I saw it in had the volume up so high. I'm pretty sure my eyes and ears are fried for a good while. C+ (Mainly for the dinobots) Edited July 12, 2014 by Ultron Quote
