Just spotted this picture on brickset for 2010 sets,

Shows 2 new unseen power functions components, I really love the way Lego are developing the look of Power Functions,

This set appears to combine some form of generator or dynamo with a device like a multimeter maybe showing the output of the generator?

Brickset linky

Could be interesting depending on exactly what that Electronic brick does?

As explained in this post at TechnicBricks in December and now available in the Education Brochure at the Offical LEGO Education website you're looking at an energy storage and energy display module that can be connected to the NXT for data logging. There is also a new e-motor with a 9.5:1 gearing ratio, a maximum torque of 4.5 Ncm and approximately 800 RPM no-load speed that could also work as an efficient generator.

The first two don't have any practical application in a Technic MOC; but the e-motor might be good for something.
