tin7_creations Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) I mentioned in my Pokémon thread in April that I was working on a new series of minifigs. The X-Men are my overall favorite superheroes, and I loved the films no matter how much the third one tanked I went through all the minifigs I've made over the past year, and I realized something... I've never made the X-Men! I've made movie versions of The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, most of Spider-Man's foes... but no X-Men! I know that the X-Men have been done before by everyone and their grandmothers; but I like to put my own spin on the minifigs, plus I plan to create "movie versions" of some characters who weren't actually in the movies. So, periodically in this thread, I will upload my X-Men minifigs, starting off with these four characters. Scott Summers - Cyclops The ruby-quartz visors are made with Sculpey (as usual). The decal on the front of the torso was inspired by Figures-Maniac (technically, I just changed the color ) The back decal on the other hand is my own design, crafted from looking at multiple movie screenshots! Remy LeBeau - Gambit Gambit would not have been possible had it not been for the release of the Prince of Persia sets; Dastan's hair works perfectly for a movie version of Gambit. For this series, I'm also going to do something I haven't done in a long time: Post Decals. The Reason: There was a guy on flickr who copied everything I did, without bothering to credit me. He would take my decals claiming them as his own etc etc. I'm sure all of you have encountered someone like that. Anyway, I'm a nice guy, and didn't want to block him for no reason. Last week, he made a racist comment on flickr, and I finally had the excuse I was looking for. Now that I've finally gotten rid of the guy, I can post some decals. Frederick J. Dukes - The Blob This is actually a really easy minifig to make. I just lumped large amounts of Sculpey on the torso and head to create the excess weight for The Blob. After adding the weight, I painted the pieces, and then applied decals on top. Nice and lumpy, wish I could have added some fat to the arms though. Callisto The decal for this fig was fun to design. I painted a Padmé hairpiece black for her hair. The decals in the embedded photos might be too small to use; so here's a link to my X-Men set on flickr so you guys can get bigger versions of the decals (tin7_creations' flickr). I have a few more minifigs from this series completed, I will post them next week when I have time! I hope to post 4-5 more before I leave for vacation. Hope everyone enjoyed these! Looking forward to your comments! ~tin7 UPDATES May 14, 2010: Prof. X, Jean, Iceman, Angel, Beast & Juggernaut May 19, 2010: Magneto, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Forge, Jubilee Edited May 21, 2010 by tin7 Quote
CF Mitch Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) Wow, these are really amazing Great job My two favorites are Cyclops and Gambit. Cyclops because he's also my favorite character (besides Wolverine that is ), and you just made him perfectly like he is in the movies But you're right, Dastan's hair suits Gambit just perfect. I just have one question about Gambit: What's up with the diamond-thingy on top of his staff? Maybe I haven't paid enough attention in the movie, but I really only remember just a long staff when he's fighting Sabretooth and Wolverine. The Blob is also done ingeniously, you gave him the perfect fat look Can't wait for your other creations Regards, CF W Edited May 12, 2010 by CF WeaZZel Quote
blhc11 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 now thoose figs look awesome, mind gving me one or two? i'll take cyclops and gambit now seriously, keep up the good work... and keep your windows unlocked tonight...MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Quote
tin7_creations Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Alright, another addition to my X-Men post. There doesn't seem to be as many replies as I had hoped for; thus I must try to dazzle you guys harder! In this new post, I will complete the original X-Men: First Class. The pictures this time are also sharper; I finally found a better camera setting to take pictures of LEGO. Professor Charles Xavier Nothing too special about this minifig. All purist. I found the design for the wheelchair online, and replicated it. Dr. Jean Grey Sizzling hotness from whom I consider as the hottest girl in the X-Men universe! The decal on the front of the torso was inspired by Figures-Maniac. The back decal on the other hand is my own design, crafted from looking at multiple movie screenshots! Bobby Drake - Iceman After the burning hotness of Jean Grey, we gotta cool down with my favorite X-Men: Iceman. I just changed the color of the decals I used on the previous minifigs; nothing too special. Until I find out how to freeze my minifig effectively, we'll all just have to settle for the Photoshop "Iceman Effect". Warren Worthington III - Angel Angel took quite some time to make. I spent a whole day sculpting his wings. The wings are made of Sculpey. Dr. Hank McCoy - Beast Beast's hair is made of Sculpey, and all the decal designs are my own. Cain Marko - Juggernaut I believe that I have posted this Juggernaut before, but I made a new face decal for it. The torso decal is by ED-209, and can be found in the MCW Index. That's all folks! Next time I post, I hope to add some characters from the Brotherhood of Mutants (ie. Magneto, Mystique, Quicksilver, etc. etc.) Hope everyone enjoyed this new post! Looking forward to your comments/critcisms! ~tin7 Edited May 17, 2010 by tin7 Quote
Severus Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 You are simply amazing! I loved Phoenix, simply because she is the hottest girl in the X-Men universe! Don't let other people tell you that Rouge or Mistique are hot, because they're not, in my opinion. I really enjoyed these , and the way you do work with Sculpey is stunning! I tried, but I never thought of painting my hairpieces! -Severus Quote
prateek Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wow! I love Beast! And I always thought that that hair would be perfect for Cyclops! Thanks for proving it Quote
CF Mitch Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wow, awesome work once again For me there's no use commenting on them individually, they're all equally terrific However I do have a few questions You say Professor Xavier is completely purist. Do you know what set his head came in? And I assume you painted the hair on Jean that color? Great job as usual, can't wait for several other Brotherhood figs [wiseass]Oh and it's 'Mystique' not 'Mystic'. Assuming you mean her [/wiseass] Regards, CF W Quote
squidman85 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Great job!I very like the design of the Xavier,Cyclops,Gambit,Beast and Juggernaut. Quote
jonwil Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hard to tell from the pictures but if the hair on Jean is dark red, it came from the 8970 Robo Attack. Quote
iamded Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wow, these are awesome! I love Juggernaut, but Gambit has to be my favourite. Very cool. Great work here, tin7, I look forward to seeing more! ~Peace Quote

The Cannonball Taylor minifig: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=sr010 Hard to tell from the pictures but if the hair on Jean is dark red, it came from the 8970 Robo Attack. You are correct! Wow, these are awesome! I love Juggernaut, but Gambit has to be my favourite. Very cool. Great work here, tin7, I look forward to seeing more! ~Peace There are more. I've made most of the characters who appear in the movie already, I will post a few more before I go on vacation! Thanks for all the comments! ~tin7 Quote
Rayman Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Excellent work Tin7, Jean Grey and the Beast are my favourites. Beast's hair is also exquisitely well sculpted. Could I ask you whether it's completely made out of sculpey or did you use a hairpiece as a base? Either way it is very convincing. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Wow, your Angel wings are exquisite! But Angel never appeared in an X-Men uniform in the films, did he? All of them look great! I too really like Beast's hair. Even though it may be completely sculpted, it kind of looks like you might've worked from a Dastan hair. Since those troll helmet came out, I always thought it was funny how they looked almost exactly like the Juggernaught helmet in the third film. That's the best part to use! I can't wait to see more. SamuelsBricker Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Wow, the decals were practically seamless, wonderfull Blob, too! Quote
tin7_creations Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Alright, last update before I go on vacation. In my last post, I said that I would post Magneto and some of the Brotherhood. I decided to post some of the characters that I created into what I believe to be their "movie form". Erik Lensherr - Magneto The helmet was made by Sculpey, and painted in that "shiny purple". The torso decal is my own design. Pietro Maximoff - Quicksilver This is what I imagine he would look like in the movie universe (I think he should be played by Tom Felton aka. Draco Malfoy). The hair is made from Sculpey and the decal is my own design. Wanda Maximoff - Scarlet Witch I based her "movie" design from her Ultimate version. The decal is my own design. As is the trench coat. Forge My "movie" Forge. Nothing special, I just designed the decals. Jubilation Lee - Jubilee Jubilee did appear in the movie, played by actress Kea Wong. However, she never appeared in an X-Men uniform (she was probably not skilled enough to be part of the team yet). I designed the decals and the trench coat, and I sanded down a LEGO visor to make her glasses. Hope everyone enjoys the new post. I'm going on vacation in 2 days, while I will have internet access and continue to visit EB, I will be unable to make new minifigs until July. When I come back however, I will post Rogue, Shadowcat, Colossus, Storm, and Wolverine. ~tin7 Quote
CF Mitch Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Excellent work again, tin7 Magneto is really recognizable and I love your 'movie versions' of the others. The face with the smirk suits Pietro perfectly. And yes, Tom Felton would be great for him. Wanda and Jubilee are amazing as well. My favorite is Forge, also because I like him as a character has well. I like how you gave him a bird, like most of his other versions (I first saw him in the game X-Men: Next Dimensions, where he looks the coolest, I think). I can't wait for Colossus and Wolverine next time Have a nice vacation Regards, CF W Quote
Randal Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Most of these are pretty cool. I can't see a lot of them on the last post though. As for pietro Maximoff, I think draco is too young to play him. (nor am I impressed with his acting, and since Pietro is one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time, I'd hope his casting were given more care. Pious aristocrats have to be played just right or they come off as pompous jerks.) I came up with a different wheelchair design you may like. it has larger wheels in the back that look more like wheelchair wheels. It still needs a little work, but it looks pretty much like your standard wheelchair. Edit: I forgot to add that I was looking through hair pieces and the one they use for Dracula would make excelent Wolvierine hair. Edited May 21, 2010 by Randal Quote
FoofleFlyBoy Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I especially love the figure of Jean, Jubilee, Gambit and Angel and, well all of them! But I know who would be a real challenge. Nightcrawler! See Yas! Quote
