Darth Nihilus Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 And in Witchbreed, how NOT to be town , just kidding! That too. I've been reading a lot of mafiawiki lately (Like the article "A Beginner's Guide on How to be Awesome at Mafia", "How to Effectively Catch a Scum", etc.), and I want to try out some of the strategies I've learned in an actual game, but so far I've had no luck in getting in one.
JimBee Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Experience is the best form of learning, IMO. Once you've participated in a Mafia School game, you should be pretty well off. The rest will come as you go.
Bob Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Still on my to-read list (in no particular order): *Werewolf Mafia *The Forest Mafia *Mystery Castle Mafia *Galactic Paranoia Mafia *Baritones 1 and 2 *Mystical Castle Mafia *Mafia School: Escape from Isla Paradisa *Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives *Mafia School: Cirque du Freak Any any others that are recommended to me. Just don't read Prohibition Mafia.
Flipz Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Just don't read Prohibition Mafia. Why??? Was that the one that got cut off in the middle or something?
Bob Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Why??? Was that the one that got cut off in the middle or something? No, that's the one I hosted that royally sucked.
Piranha Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Well, reading the games themselves CAN be helpful, if you know what to look for. My goal is to have read through the Mafia games that I've seen tons of references to after the fact (Bloodbrick I and II, Baritones, The Forest, Werewolf, etc.) and glean what I can from them. Here's the ones I've finished so far, and the lessons I learned from them (spoilers ahead!): *Western Mafia-What NOT to do in a Mafia game. What? Me, Scouty and Trexxen were the masterminds behind that one.
Brickdoctor Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 What? Me, Scouty and Trexxen were the masterminds behind that one. I think I read through Western Mafia a couple months ago. I remember thinking that every new player should read it just to see what would happen when they looked for clues anywhere other than behavior.
The Legonater Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 No, that's the one I hosted that royally sucked. I thought it was pretty good, actually. Mind you, I was watching it at a time before I had played my first game, but I thought it was done well.
Peanuts Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) No, that's the one I hosted that royally sucked. Wasn't that the game in which the town couldn't get to a lynch for two days in a row and you blocked all night actions until they'd get to a conviction? I kinda liked it, though. The idea with the SK having a 50:50 chance killing all the winning party was good. It was fun, but it was slightly confusing after a few days. Not as confusing as some other games, though. Reserve judgement before you decline it immediately. It's a completely original storyline I made up, and it's not terribly futuristic. You'll see when the sign-up thread goes up eventually. Okay, I'll keep an open mind about it. I was just saying that I prefer to play games with a theme I myself fancy, and that's usually not sci-fi. But I must admit you made me curious, so I'll wait for the game to come. Edited February 24, 2012 by Peanuts
Scouty Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 You could read ImperialSoldier's mafia. What? Me, Scouty and Trexxen were the masterminds behind that one. They'll never catch Flatfoot Thompson Or that weird guy that lives in the mountains or something Hold on, wait a second... you tried to kill me! You no good, backstabbing....
Darth Nihilus Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 My Little Mafia (from def's signature) looks fun, but I'm not a Brony so I won't sign up. Tammo will, though, I'm sure of it.

Darth Nihilus Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Absolutely. I'm pretty sure it's a joke, though. Well, def did talk about a 'secret game' coming in March (Or April, I can never remember these things), so it's a possibility.... Though you're probably right, because ponies don't mix with LEGO.
Eskallon Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I hope your not getting mine and Tamamono's hopes up. Looks like a great lineup of mafia games coming.

I will never live that down. I never tried because I didn't know I was supposed to. I think I had the hardest role in any mafia game to date due to the fact that for me to win I truly had to be the last man standing.
Peanuts Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Though you're probably right, because ponies don't mix with LEGO. It's LEGO, you can build practically everything with those bricks. Actually, I'd enjoy seeing some ponies build out of Lego. Pinkie might pose a challenge, though. Where to get that many pink bricks? And the many curvatures... It's a shame, I'd really love an MLP mafia game.

Masked Builder Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 *cough*Friends*cough* Ohh! Nice idea! A Friends mafia!
Tamamono Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Ohh! Nice idea! A Friends mafia! Friends and Enemies, it could be called.
def Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Ohh! Nice idea! A Friends mafia! There is no doubt that there will be a Friends Mafia eventually. It's just a matter of who wants to spend two months living in Friends's world in order to host it.

It's just a matter of who wants to spend two months living in Friends's world in order to host it. Not me! I've still yet to get any of the sets! Maybe you could get Rufus/Pandora to do one.
def Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Not me! I've still yet to get any of the sets! Maybe you could get Rufus/Pandora to do one. Oh, I'm not looking for a Friends Mafia, I just think it's inevitable.
Poison Ivy Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Oh, I'm not looking for a Friends Mafia, I just think it's inevitable. Well, the Belville Mafia didn't come until after the theme ended, so even if there is a Friends Mafia, it probably won't happen for a while. Plus, with the limited amount of characters seen in the Friends line so far, there aren't enough custom figures possible to make a whole cast of characters, without tons of repetitive-looking characters.

Actually, using a bunch of different hairpieces with the existing heads will get a fair number of characters. Add in the different outfits, and bizzare creations like the spider-robot Friends girl that was posted a while back, and the possibilities are limitless... Also, odd question, why is IMHOTEP indexed but Gotham City isn't?
Dragonator Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Also, odd question, why is IMHOTEP indexed but Gotham City isn't? Because I had already done half of Imhotep. Gotham is mostly done, you just can't see it.
