Flipz Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Because I had already done half of Imhotep. Gotham is mostly done, you just can't see it. Ah. Gotcha. And while I have your attention, I would like to belatedly congratulate you for your BRILLIANT performance in Bloodbrick Mafia. I just read it a couple days ago, and...wow. Just, wow. I am in awe of your Mafia prowess.
Big Cam Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Actually, I have a top secret game that's coming in April, after Yakuza. Then you're next, it seems. I asked a little while back. My current schedule is probably too hectic to host, but I get most of the month of April off, so I reserved a spot. So, what's it about? Well, it seems that... no, no, no, I can't say. It's a super-special surprise Well then, this will be my return to mafia games.
def Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Well then, this will be my return to mafia games. You know there will be a place for you there, my captain
Hinckley Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Well, the Belville Mafia didn't come until after the theme ended, so even if there is a Friends Mafia, it probably won't happen for a while. Plus, with the limited amount of characters seen in the Friends line so far, there aren't enough custom figures possible to make a whole cast of characters, without tons of repetitive-looking characters.
Eskallon Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Face_Ground because Face_plant isnt enough!
Eskallon Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Is that an announcement? Is what an announcement?
RPGer Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) Is their anybody who would like to see a Sci-Fi RPG? I know Flipz does already. Edited March 4, 2012 by RPGer
Flipz Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I would enjoy a Sci-Fi version of Heroica. Work in progress. I have the storyline all set up, I'm just tweaking stats and the like to better fit sci-fi. (Obviously, magic and elements play a much much smaller role, so that changes how I balance the rest of the rules.) I plan to make the pitch to Dragonator sometime in late spring or early summer, I have to test the stat system with some friends of mine. Dragonator (or anyone else who's interested), I do have some preliminary rules text done--a themed intro page, sort of the way Sandy does the Heroica rules, but better suited for the sci-fi theme. I plan to have plaintext versions of the rules as well, tho, just in case.

Bricksandparts Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) Some Ideas for the Sci-fi RPG: * Ship home - You can buy and upgrade a ship for your character. * Ways to make money outside of missions (quests) for upgrades for character or ship. * Robot partners - be able to buy and upgrade robots to help you in fights. * MOC competitions for extra rewards Edited March 4, 2012 by Bricksandparts
Zepher Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I think that one RPG is enough for the time being, but I'm not a MOD.
Bricksandparts Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I think that one RPG is enough for the time being, but I'm not a MOD. I see what you mean, but I think that Flipz could start his in a few months, not right now, but a little later. Hopefully, the 2 RPGs will keep people interested for a longer period of time, and keep the two games alive longer, that's just my opinion of course though. I hope we will get to 100 quests before Heroica RPG dies... We actually may get there, we are already a fourth there...
TheBoyWonder Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I for one think they would boost each others popularity. Say, somebody does the SciFi one and enjoys it, they might decide to join Heroica. It could be called: Heroica In Space!

Tamamono Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Meh, I see no inherent need for a second RPG at the moment. Heroica is doing pretty well, from what I can see. There's no real need to 'boost' its popularity. Just my two cents.
Flipz Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Some Ideas for the Sci-fi RPG: * Ship home - You can buy and upgrade a ship for your character. * Ways to make money outside of missions (quests) for upgrades for character or ship. * Robot partners - be able to buy and upgrade robots to help you in fights. * MOC competitions for extra rewards Hey, if you want your own ship, you gots to BUILD one. And really, I wouldn't want ways to "farm" money for the same reason Sandy wouldn't want them in Heroica: it would make money easy to get and practically worthless, and would make Quests less appealing in terms of profit. I'd probably consider SOME sort of in-Hall event if there were too few Quests, but other than that... As for the MOC competitions, I've got different plans in that regard, but they're even more long-term...wait, why am I telling you guys about this now, I don't plan to do anything with them for several months! Get out of here! Meh, I see no inherent need for a second RPG at the moment. Heroica is doing pretty well, from what I can see. There's no real need to 'boost' its popularity. Just my two cents. Like I said, this won't be for several months. Also, sci-fi appeals to different people and has opportunities for different stories (and builds) than fantasy. There might be some overlap, but the way I'm planning it, it won't be competition for Heroica so much as a different RPG choice that fills some of the roles that Heroica does not. And to reiterate what I said a moment ago, "why am I telling you guys about this now?!?"
Sandy Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Like I said, this won't be for several months. Have you gotten a go-ahead from Dragonator? Since he's been away, I doubt it. Before you do, you should not plan anything, not just for Eurobricks anyway. I can say Draggy's been quite particular on who he allows to host games here, so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. And if I can be totally honest, it is quite insulting that you think you can take the game system I created, slap a different name and theme on it, and call it your own just like that.

Flipz did say that he didn't plan to pitch it to Draggy for at least a couple months. He also said that he's got some new mechanics that he's going to test in real life with some friends. It was actually TheBoyWonder who called it a sci-fi version of Heroica, not Flipz.Personally, I'll withhold any judgment until Flipz has thoroughly tested his concept and pitched it to Draggy.

Okay, I'm sorry if this isn't "Heroica in Space" you're planning, Flipz, but it certainly started to sound like it to me. Everything is of course in Dragonator's hands, but I just had to voice out my opinion about this matter before people got too excited about a new game. And no, I'm not jealous about a possible rivalling game, but I believe I have a say whether I want my game to be copied or not. There is room for only one Heroica RPG in EB, in my opinion.

Actually, I started the discussion, not Flipz, and I was not trying to offend you or make you think I was ripping you off of Heroica. I'm just saying it would be fun to make a Sci-Fi game.
