Most of the Ninjago sets are terrible, but some of them are quite nice example set 2504 :classic:

Terrible how? A blanket dismissal doesn't really add much to the discussion.

About the Lightning Dragon:

From Brickapedia:

2521 Lightning Dragon Battle is a Ninjago limited edition set to be released in 2011. It includes a large, blue dragon which looks very similar to the Ice Dragon. It includes Jay in his DX attire and a currently unknown skeleton.

-We already know the number and it is limited edition ot be released in 2011

-Of coure we know it includes a blue dragon

-All dragon riders have DX clothes. We already know that.

-Of coure there will be a skeleton in the set that Jay can fight

This is why I Hate wikis. The only bit of informatin is that it looks like the ice dragon, but that could be false.

Actually, that's semi-reliable-- but I assure you that they got that just by looking at Jay DX's uniform and recognizing the identical head shape.

Anyway, today I discovered that the PDF building instructions for set 3856 Ninjago: The Board Game are online. No gameplay directions yet, regrettably, but in any event I built this set on LDD and will post it in the Official Sets topic in the LDD subforum sooner or later.

What I implore any Ninjago fans to check out, though, is the simply adorable comic from the back of the instruction booklet. Look at the widdle ninjas! Not sure who the illustrator is for these-- the art style is similar to the box art for the LEGO Games, as well as to the art style of the Ninjago battle cards (and I wouldn't be surprised if both were in fact illustrated by the same person). It's pretty much a Yoshi's Story level of cuteness when done with microfigs!

Interesting! I thought Brickmaster was being replaced though.

Brickmaster ends in May. So there's still two issues (and sets) until the end: March-April and May-June.

Anyway, I love microscale stuff, so I'm very impressed with this.

Ah, I see. It's quite nice, and not what I expected.

The Turbo Shredder is actually the only set left to purchase for the current wave, incidentally. Otherwise, I own all of the sets except for the exclusives. :classic:

It appears the Turbo Shredder will be the first NinjaGo set I pick up (after the freebie sword holder promo set) - there's one on clearance for $10 at the Walmart nearest my workplace (!). I saw it there when I stopped at the store to pick up something to eat on my way into work this morning; the only reason I didn't pick it up immediately is because I'm pretty low on funds until payday and wanted to check my bank balance before I took the plunge, but it appears I'll be able to manage it.

I've noticed before this particular WM has demonstrated a certain unpredictability in its LEGO sales and clearances (this is where I picked up eight copies of the $25 Toy Story set Construct-A-Zurg for $3 each, a while before it went on sale for $15 at other WMs), but I still wouldn't have expected to see them put a set released just two months earlier on clearance for two-thirds off. What does it mean - is the theme not selling well, or is this just an aberration?

Strange. It certainly seems to be doing well here, as I keep on seeing parents buying spinner packs for their children, and subsequently complaining about the price.

Maybe the spinners are doing too well, though. Kids seem to prefer them instead of the sets.

I actually bought the Turbo Shredder yesterday. I was surprised to see that there was a function: a strange raking motion that the front of the vehicle performs as it is pushed forward. It certainly seems that as many features as possible are being stuffed into the skeletons' vehicles.

Indeed, and hey, why not? If one's designing a theme centered around ninjas battling evil skeletons who practice a spinning-based martial art and drive Mad Max-style hot rods and motorbikes, one presumably isn't facing too many constraints upon what one can put in a set.

I did go back and get my Turbo Shredder (I was lucky no one else picked it up while I was at work), and checked the rest of the sets. They had ample stock of the other sets, and none of them were clearanced, just the Shredder (though I did find the $15 LEGO game Magma Monster down to $7.97, so I picked that up as well).

Didn't see any mention of this in the first post. While searching for a case of collectable minifigures, I came across this:

Ninjago Brickmaster Pre-Order

Steve

Two unique figures eh? Interesting. I wonder if "unique" means that they're variations or entirely different minifigs.

I realise I've been following this particular topic heavily. Must be because of that rumoured Lightning Dragon.

The summer sets are suprisingly very good in my eyes. The current wave did not really call to me. It had too much technology, but the newer wave seems to go back to simpler times where everyone wore colored outfits.

Finalised pictures: click it!

Still no Lightning Dragon.

Yay! :classic:

A few things here... it appears that those large samurai helmets might be separable from the head. There's also new chest armour for those large-headed skeletons.

It's a little bit annoying that the four-armed skeleton is also in the temple set, as I pretty much bought Garmadon's Fortress for him. Oh well. :sceptic:

I still can't tell on that samurai guy. I thought for sure It was removable at first, only due to the matching straw hat guy. I hope to high heaven it is still. but it looks less and less like there's a clean seam to me.
