Is it really too large? It looks fine on my computer. Plus, Hinkley added the latter part, so I don't think he break his own rules! :tongue:

No but it really is huge as I am on a smaller screen as is many others. Please for me :sweet:

Do you need to have a pic for joining?

If not I´ll make my character fast.

And when can you decide if you are a Auror/Death Eater?

But a blast-ended skrewt would be AWESOME. Not that I have any idea how to build one in LEGO.

I'll get to work on a character in a day or two. (We saw how quickly I photographed my CIS army for CC...oh, wait a minute. :hmpf_bad: )

:tongue:

Yes! Don't forget about that. :sceptic:

I thought the middle earth bit would point out it was a joke. :laugh:

Sorry. When there's a lot of talk about being creatures, it's hard to pick out a joke amongst them. :grin:

I'd prefer it if you included the pic when you made your character entry. It'd also be good if people put a pic of their character in their avatar or signature so that other people can recognise a Wizard Duelist around the forums; especially handy when looking for an opponent. :classic:

If you look at my character's profile, you'll see I put 'Good' student next to his name to show that I'm following the 'good' wizard path as oppose to the 'dark' one. If you are unsure which you want to be when you make your character, just include the house they belong to and you can decide later. When you start picking certain spells, you'll have to pick a path. When you do, edit your profile to show if you'll be 'good' or 'dark'.

Another note: when you generally propose a duel, it might be a good idea to specify what time you'll be available til so that people looking later will know if you're still around. This prevents people asking each other for duels over days at a time.

Hmm, sounds exciting! I think i might give this a go. :sweet: Can I make my character out of any fig parts, or is it only HP fig parts?

Also how long will each duel take if both people are on at the same time with the ref?

Thanks for making this Pedro and ADHO!

You can make your character from any parts in your LEGO collection.

If everyone is online and responding quickly, there's no reason a duel can't be fought in half an hour or even less. I like to flavour a duel with some narrative but that isn't necessary if you'd rather just cut to the chase. :wink:

Righto Master! I think i'll be going for the chase, not very good with narration. :laugh:

I think I'll have a go then.

You should, the Wizard's Duel could use more student wizard duelists. The more, the merrier! default_classic.gif

Yes, please! I'm going to need someone to try my new spell on... default_devg1.gif

Hey, you're way too ahead of yourself, our duel still ain't finished. It ain't over 'til it's over. Though probability is not in my side, a miraculous last round comeback is still possible. default_laugh_new.gif

Anyway, I hope a Gryffindor student will enter Wizard Duel soon, no representative yet from the Goodies.

To progress to the next rank, a player must win the number of duels equivalent to that rank.

• Student - Possesses no additional spells or powers. 2 wins to next rank.

• Practitioner - Player can choose 1 Spell. 3 wins to next rank.

• Adept - Player can choose 1 extra Spell. 4 wins to next rank.

• Magus - Player can choose 1 Mastery Power. 5 wins to next rank.

• Auror / Death Eater - Player can choose 1 extra Mastery Power.

I would just like to clarify, when you reach the level of Practitioner, do you need 3 more wins to become an Adept or just 1 more win (3 total wins) to move up? The italicised description above might be misleading if misinterpreted.

Yup I already have joined!

Haha, I haven't seen this till know, what a fluke I chose Good Gryffindor.

Yes good question! Im also at a loss with this, but most likely I think Pedro and ADHO have made it so you have to win 3 more until next rank, not 1 more, then it would be to easy to level up. :wink:

That's what I think too, since levelling up in WD is much harder than in JD. We just need an official confirmation from pedro or ADHO15.

Bingo. That's how I understand it. Please correct me if you think otherwise, pedro.

If it was just one more win each level, it'd be far too easy to level up and everyone would be aurors/death eaters in no time. :classic:

Oooh, I was very confused on this. I'll go re-edit my profile real quick.

I actually asked this question since I remembered you saying that you'll have a new spell by your third win, so I checked out and tried to clarify this matter. Thanks for the clarification ADHO15. Well, I guess you have to beat more of us students, cralegoboy, to get your badly wanted new spell. :tongue:

I can't help but wonder if we can add a new 'factor' into the rules of the game.

In the Harry Potter universe, the Pets of the characters play a big role, for example, Dumbledore has Fawkes the Phoenix, Harry has Hedwig, Hermione has Crookshanks.

I wonder if we can include pets, for example, a character can have a pet owl, cat, toad, rat, or dragon (those animal pieces that fit on one stud), and the pet can provide a boost of 1 power to one of the attacks/spells.

Don't forget Ron's Scabbers, even though he is Pettigrew.

Sounds cool but might be to hard to change the rules.

Hey ADHO and Pedro, can we double duel, as in have two separate duels going on at the same time?

Also, do all the spells that you can earn when you level up, cancel each other when they are used at the same time? But they beat Low, Mid, and High right?

Could you put a list on the first post of the Dueling club topic of what beats what. That would be a huge help, thanks. :sweet:

By the time we see the wizards and witches warring at the end of the Harry Potter saga the pets have pretty much taken a back-seat! That's not to say this isn't a bad idea though, in fact I really like it and it would probably work well as an additional ability in a future version of the game. For the time being, learn Sectumsempra! and you'll be inflicting that extra point of damage!

I'm working hard on Jedi Duel V2 which will improve the forum duelling game massively, adding different types of character for players to choose and many more cool abilities. When players create their charcaters they will be truly unique and play in radically different ways! It's pretty exciting really. If you're interested in discussing that click here.

Yes, you can double duel, but try and make sure that everyone gets a chance to play. If this means you play one duel and Referee/Adjudicate another then all the better. I understand that some games will play a lot more quickly than others i.e. when people are in the same time zone.

Whenever an attack meets the same type of attack in the Duel Sequence then they are countered, or drawn, meaning no-one takes damage. The exception to this is if you learn the Natural Talent Mastery Ability, which allows you to inflict damage on your opponent even when you counter. Handy! I can't edit the 1st post personally but here's some extra information:

HIGH <- counters -> HIGH

MID <- counters -> MID

LOW <- counters -> LOW

Silencio! <- counters -> Silencio!

Expelliarmus! <- counters -> Expelliarmus!

Stupefy! <- counters -> Crucio!

There's a diagram in the rules of which standard attacks - HIGH, MID, LOW, Silencio! - beat which. Stupefy and Crucio defeat any standard attack but can be countered or blocked.

Hope that makes things a wee bit clearer?

PLEASE NOTE: Concerning the previous conversation about the number of duels and ranking up, after you've gained rank you need to WIN a number of new duels equivalnet to the next rank to proceed to the next rank, NOT a total. This means you'll need to WIN 14 DUELS to become an Auror or Death Eater. Good luck!

I am so going to try this, I kinda missed out on Jedi Duel but now I am just waiting for Bricklink to make my character!

You should! The more the merrier! default_classic.gif We need more duelists, so we'll wait for you Admiral Ron! default_blink.gif
