lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) You know I wonder why Lego has not done one of these yet, it took just over an hour to build from scratch and to mark ONE year of being on Eurobricks I give you my green council Bobcat skid loader. Real one first.... Now mine.......... It is based on a true Bobcat, but some adjustments have been made for the sake of being Lego ! Comments very welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Tobbe Arnesson Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Nice! Now off to do some front wheelies! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Very nice Skip Loader lightningtiger! Very true to the real thing - and functional too! BTW, Happy Anniversarry to you, the fastest tiger on EB! And as you always say, "I'm a conformist!!" Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) Oh, you mean like what is in this classic advert from Aussie tv many years ago....... Keep on drinking iced coffee ! Quick edit - thanks 'KielDaMan' for your comments and wishes. Edited October 29, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) Had not seen that one before, but exactly! :D Here's a Swedish stunt driver (crap video though): There's tons of stuntdriving like that with the skip loaders out there. Anyway, love your minifig version of it! Edit: Seen is spelled with an 'n'. Edited October 29, 2010 by Tobbe Arnesson Quote
SilentMode Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 That's an excellent building job. I really like the use of the digger arms, as well as the choice of wheels... I'm also surprised there hasn't been anything like this put out (although there have been a couple of small diggers). Keep on digging! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks for the comments 'Tobbe Arnesson' - I will be starting on my next vehicle project tonight ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote

lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks 'greg3' and oops, forgot to thank 'SilentMode' - sorry, dude ! - your comments are always welcome ! I'm still reseaching the next vehicle - of course a service truck to carry tools, it will have the same front end as the water truck but a totally different rear end ! Keep on watching ! Quote
dr_spock Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Nice work, Lightningtiger. It looks very functional. It should make a nice load for your old yellow dumper truck with flat bed trailer. Happy anniversary. Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Nice! My little brother gives his seal of approval. (I think it's great too.) Quote

Big Cam Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 A very accurate model, you know bobcats are made in the city I live in. Quote

alstda Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Cool model - design looks a bit like something out of the power miners series. Good to see that they might fit into a city.... Quote

Thanks 'alstda' for your comments, I don't think they did a manned (minifig'ed) bobcat I think that was a robotic bobcat of sorts. I'm still working on the service truck, so hopefully in a few days I have it posted. Keep on digging ! Quote
eiker86 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Just love it =) Are u gonna build it so you could use other tools than the loader? Quote

Hinckley Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Excellent work lightningtiger. This is the first MOC of yours that I'm responding to, but I see that you build a lot. I think you've got a great eye for the proportions and you made all the right choices here to make a LEGO version of the loader. I have two criticisms, one small, one big. Small criticism: the portion of the back of the loader where you've used the dark gray 1 x 2 x 1 1/3 modified brick with curved top: I'm not sure why you've built this taller than on the original. All of the other proportion are the same. Maybe a 2x4 45 degree slope would work well here? Or some of these: Big criticism: It'd be nice to see some SNOT work on this one. The shape of the original has very specific proportions and it'd be nice to see some sleeker angles and even tighter proportions. The back of the IRL loader has a thinner panel and doesn't come out along the edges so much. Your loader has a bit of a wide megablocks in comparison. Maybe playing around with some 1 x 4 bricks with side studs or brackets, and some plates and tiles would give it an even better shape. Nitpick: I like the colors of the original better. A green one would be cool, but I'd rather see it with green where the red is and the rest of it white. I know those liftarms don't come in white but perhaps using some different pieces for the liftarms could work. Overall, I think it's an excellent build and represents the original well. I hope you don't think I'm picking on you. I just see that you build a lot and I thought I'd give some advice on how to challenge yourself or get some more detail out of what you're doing. Keep building, keep up the great energy! Thanks for posting so many great MOCs and keeping our Town Forum active. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 Okay, so lots of suggestions there 'Hinckley', so now lets see if this is better eh ? I think this might be a better recreation of the real thing ! Comments welcome and keep on digging ! Footnote - in the background you can see the start of my next MOC - a park. Quote
JeremyB Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Great looking bobcat. Just a little curious if you had put this together on LDD. I know you said you made it from scratch, but I guess i'm asking if you could. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 Thanks for the comment 'JeremyB', well I started to use LDD for this but the 9l bent link is not even in Universe mode so I just went back to what I did when I was ten years old...scratch build....it's more fun some times ! I must knock up a trailer for the loader to ride on in the next few days. Keep on digging ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 In considering a trailer for this vehicle, I thought - oh, crap it's too wide ! So...... My only problem is the bucket it's 8 wide, I think it should be 6 wide.....yes or no ? Comments welcome and keep on digging ! Quote
