The Hordesman Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Hello thar! I mentioned that I modified my Durmstrang ship to Mister Phes yesterday, and he wanted to see it. Figured out it was a good idea making a new thread for it, since I dont like hijacking threads. Yes, this is a late medieval ship, so no pirates or imperial soldiers(well, blue or red coats) onboard, sorry! *pirate* Under the command of the Dragonian Empire, this ship, carrying troops from both the empire and Rageesh fly the flags of the cockatrice- the heraldry of the empire! Not much done to the ship itself, I just changed some minor things (like a dragon's head in front, boomsticks, etc) and added some sails and fixed the masts. The guys in lorica armors (by Legofreak) are mercenary city guards of Rageesh, fantasy guys- no historical accuracy at all over them. This is most meant to show what one can do with the Durmstrang ship, or something. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/TheHorde...eeshwarship.jpg Gallery when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=182793 Avast ye mateys! SuvieD Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Much more colorful and full of figures but is it much different/bulkier than the original? Either way it is looking good. The sail colors are mismatched but not awful. I think you would be better making your own with Willy's sail guide. Quote
Evil Willy Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Thats great hordesman, Ive always wanted to see that ship with sails...I sort of looked into buying it but it seemed to bulky for me, and I had rather waste money on e-bay. But nonetheless it looks cool! I like it, but like suvieD said, the sails need to be the same. Well keep on MOCing, I would love to see a completley original build from you! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 10, 2006 Governor Posted May 10, 2006 Yes, this is a late medieval ship, so no pirates or imperial soldiers(well, blue or red coats) onboard, sorry! *pirate* What it doing here then? MOCs like this usually get a much better response in the LEGO Castle & Pirates Forum, however I'm going to leave it here for a while to see if we get different posters than we would in the other forum. Then when my curiosity is satisfied I shall move it to be with its family. Quote
The Hordesman Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 Actually, the mismatched sails were a way for me to get rid of the sails lying around everywere. I will probably change the sails later on, but what colors- red or blue stripes? Or something else? I did however put them in a way so it wouldnt look stupid- the blue ones are at the same height and the red ones are at the same height. I'll fix it as soon as I build another ship. ;-) Indeed, the ship is bulky- but Ive allways loved bulky things for some reason- probably one thing Ive heired of my father who drew WW2 fighters that were sillified by being cramped & bulky in his comics.
