Peppermint_M Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Where are you? On topic:I guess they could do a wave with the south america's inkies(if thats what they are called )this could be cool The Inca people, Incas. They were in ancient Peru (built Machu Picchu, that city?). Then you have the Mayans (they of the world ending predictions) Aztecs (heart cutting out on the stepped pyramid) and the Olmec, (made giant head sculptures). Quote
Khorne Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I have to disagree with that second statement. I think the culture of India is quite well known around the world and there is a lot that you could do with that theme that has not been done before. I think about giant king cobras or cobra mutants or think about some big temple set kind of like Angkor Wat which, isn't in India but has very similar architecture. Also think about all of the cool animals that Lego could release like tigers, more elephants, and of course a king cobra. I mean the rattlesnake is ok for most snakes but, I want a properly hooded cobra. Lego has been releasing a lot of new animals like the new monkey, the camel, the new goats and chickens. A cobra and tiger would be just too awesome. Keep crossing your fingers. While its culture is relatively well known, I was stricly speaking about Indian mythology and religion. I mean, the basis, the foundation of Pharaoh's Quest is Egyptian mythology. Even though LEGO absolutely doesn't follow any story of the real mythology, lots of its figures are taken from it: the scarab, Anubis, flying Horus mummies, etc. Frankly, all I know of Indian mythology is the blue guy with all the arms and the god with the elephant head . I beg to differ, Roman will be not just different but AWESOME.....the undead legionaries as they search the ruins of Pompeii. Oh, or maybe Vikings, dam we'll head into Scooby Doo country soon ? A Viking theme has been done before and if I recall correctly, it didn't really sell that well.Maybe they could do a theme build around the exploits of Alexander the Great? That way they can combine multiple countries/cultures . Quote
Delta 38 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 A problem with Rome is that it's never had the same exotic appeal as many African, American, and Asian locations. Egypt, for instance, is in the middle of a desert. It's easy for an author to stick a fictional landmark somewhere in that vicinity without breaking willing suspension of disbelief. On the other hand, Rome is in a highly-populated area where most of the historic landmarks are in the middle of a civilization that's been active for centuries. Chances are a theme to follow up Pharaoh's Quest would be set some other tried-and-tested adventure story location, like China or South America. I guess you're right there. The Ancient Greeks and Romans might be a bit too "civilised", for lack of a better word, and they won't work as well if the theme continues. Sure there are plenty of things from mythology that could be great sets, but if there are any more waves, then they will probably appear later on. Quote
prateek Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I'd like to see them go to an Arctic setting. There is too much focus on jungles and deserts in these adventure themes. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I'd like to see them go to an Arctic setting. There is too much focus on jungles and deserts in these adventure themes. But, there is really nothing interesting in the arctic region such as temples, tombs, cities, etc... I am really hoping that Lego expands the Pharaoh's Quest theme or they switch to some kind of aztec theme. That would be too cool. Quote

Well, it could be set in Nepal, where there's mountain temples and tombs. Or they could do it in the Arctic, and just make up temples, like an ancient city that's been trapped under the ice for centuries. Quote

Jack Bricker Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell...there is one theory flying around out there which speculates that the 'lost continent' of Atlantis is buried under the ice of Antarctica, so... Yeah, but that is unlikely. I wouldn't mind Lego redoing what they did with the adventurers line. I mean think about a newly designed Aztec temple with all of the new building techniques and pieces. That sure would be cool. Quote
ZO6 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I'm very pleased to hear that another wave of "Quest" sets is likely on its way. I purchased all of the PQ sets within days of them being released earlier this year. I've been having to go through Bricklink to pick up the remaining sets that I need for my Johnny Thunder collection as I needed my Adventurers fix. As far as I'm concerned, another wave of the Quest can take place anywhere. So long as there are an adequate number of structure based sets, with lots of elaborate play functions, then the theme can take play where ever and I know I'll be happy. It would certainly be easy to follow a similar trend as Johnny and co. did by hitting up the Amazon. This would provide a nice exotic location with the potential for many different exciting sets. I would however like to see Jake go on a unique path and not revisit all the same locations seen with the Adventurers. I see that a number of people have suggested something in the Arctic or Antarctic. While its been a while since TLC has done a theme taking place in a snowy location, I can't imagine the set designs would be as interesting, nor as recognizable for children. There needs to be a fine balance between finding a setting that is exotic, yet that would feature landmarks or names famous enough for a child to be able to associate with. So if a jungle or snow theme is not be chosen, where then? With the current NinjaGo sets out, I doubt TLC would have Jake travel to China or Japan. It'll certainly be interesting to see where the line goes to next, though to me a return to the jungle (Will it be in Central/South America or India?) seems the most likely. Quote
sok117 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I dunno, the comic could mean anything, back when orient expedition was around, they had games hinting at Greek mythology and mummies, but they never went to Greece or Egypt. Quote

hueybricks Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I don't know much about the adventure series, i just picked up my first one last night 7326 Mysterious Sphinx. I think all of the PQ line look really good apart from the Cobra Attack set. I would like to see them do something with the King Solomons Mines story, that would be sweet. As for snow and ice themes there are plenty of snowy mountainous areas that they could do a hunt for bigfoot/yeti theme. Quote

Exactly. I purchased the whole PQ range and before building, the cobra set was what I thought would be my least favourite, but turned out to be one of my favourites of the theme after I had the joy of building and displaying it. Hmmm, well i'll will go back and have another look at it. I'm still coming to terms with being a AFOL, the Mysterious Sphinx was my first big lego purchase as an adult and i decided that it had more potential in set building for brickfilming than the others. I was tossing up weather to get both the Cursed Cobra Statue and Duel in the Air which would have been $100 or just the Sphinx which was $100 on its own. I couldn't bring myself to blow $200 to get all 3 just yet. I did want the female minifig and the revlover that came with the cobra set so it probably won't take much for me to go and pick one up. Raider Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 May i suggest getting the instructions of Lego.com because that is what helps me then i can see the build the parts and how much i like it. and if your having problems with buying them for 100 you might want to try Bricklink.com there really cheap there for instance the Pharaoh's Quest set 7327 Scorpion Pyramid is only $90.00 USD which is cheap Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Well, the artifacts are taken back, the pharaoh is locked back in his tomb. The World has been saved by four adventurers and a lot of pluck. Maybe they will have some future quests to undertake but it seems like they are having a rest for now. Hopefully soon something new will occur but for now we bid you adieu. Quote

ZO6 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Alas, it does seem as though Jake and company will have to wait until their next adventure. With any luck we could see 'Quest' return as a summer wave next year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. This year's theme was certainly fun while it lasted, so here's to their return! Quote
Algernon Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 That's disappointing, I really enjoyed these sets. So much potential for a future wave, too. Quote

That's really too bad, I thoroughly enjoyed this theme and bought each and every set the first time I saw them, too bad. Well, that's money to spend on other themes...silver lining, I suppose. Quote
Legoist Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Maybe it's a wrong impression, but I think these sets have already disappeared from most shops around here... Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 ...That really is a shame, as this theme is what hooked me back into LEGO, after having a 3-year-long Dark Age, and I was looking forward to seeing what direction they'd take it next. Bluebeard, out- Quote

My local TRU(California, USA) still had them in stock last week. The Lego guy was just there last week and fully stocked the shelves, too. Quote
