tj19941994 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hi, I was thinking about this; what if TLG made a series of battle packs for the lego theme? Not in the conventional sense, but instad by making packs for each house, including 4 or 5 students and the head of that house and possibly the house ghost. If it were up to be the packs would contain these characters: Hufflepuff Pack: - Cedric Diggory - Hannah Abbot - Justin Finch-Fletchley - The fat friar (Ghost) - Susan Bones - Professor Sprout Ravenclaw Pack: - Luna Lovegood - Cho Chang - Michael Corner - Terry Boot OR Padma Patil - Professor Flitwick - The Grey Lady (Ghost) Slytherin Pack: - Draco Malfoy - Crabbe - Goyle - Pansy Parkinson -Slughorn OR Snape - The Bloody Barron (Ghost) I was also thinking about the possibility of staff packs, creature packs, a death eater pack and a order of the phoenix pack. Thoughts? Quote
Geertos13 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Harry Potter is a licensed theme, and like all the other Licensed Themes, Warner Brothers and all the other movie companies don't allow LEGO to sell seperated minifigures. However I think it could work, this is an I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E idea. Quote
pompommini Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) I don't think they would make those but they could make normal battle packs like a Death Eater one Edited January 15, 2011 by pompommini Quote
Gregorovich Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I would love these to come out, as we could get Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff uniforms, plus lots more characters, but I don't think they will. But I hope I'm wrong! Also, Geertos13, you said film companies don't allow LEGO to sell separate minifigs, but you get Star Wars battle packs, don't you? Quote

Hmm, I'll have to recheck my sources then. I always thought it wasn't allowed. But I know for sure Warner Bros does not allow it. George Lucas might have not made that decision though ? Quote
minifgure_fan Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) You know what would be ever better? Quiddich packs! They could have one for each house, so we'd finally get some other characters like Cho, or maybe Cedric! But, if they don't release more HP sets, it most likely won't happen. commanderneyo Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Also, Geertos13, you said film companies don't allow LEGO to sell separate minifigs, but you get Star Wars battle packs, don't you? I'm a Star Wars fan so I can answer this. As Geertos13 said you cannot release figures seperately because Hasbro owns the Figures license and they banned Lego selling Figures on their own when they first did some Star Wars figure packs in 2000. Plus the Star Wars Battle Packs can come with small Vehicles, Turrets etc while what Small vehicle could be in a Harry Potter Battle Pack? None though I would love Harry Potter Battle Packs there is no chance that we will ever get them unless Hasbro changes their mind and allows Lego to sell seperate figures which they said they never will so sadly it won't happen Quote
JimBee Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 It seems unlikely. First of all, battle packs usually include figs recycled from larger sets, if you're talking about fig packs, like in Castle or Pirates, and not the $10 sets in SW. And second, I can't see "house" packs, since they contain individual characters. The only ideas that I can think of that would be used for army building are generic Death Eaters/ Dementors and generic students. And then the individual characters like Cedric Diggory would be included in future, larger sets. Quote
fred67 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Battle packs are possible, you never know what they could come up with. a graveyard scene with some death eaters and Tom Riddle Srs. grave and maybe a few fence pieces, perhaps a couple extra tombstones (which would be cool by themselves, if you ask me). any classroom with a table and various other items (books, flasks) and a number of generic students from different houses. any common room with cheap fireplace and couch and generic students from that house. I don't think it's as big a deal as it's made out to be. If TLG doesn't do this, it's simply because they don't feel it's worthwhile. If we didn't do battle packs as such, then think about this comparison with Castle: people hate the battle packs. Now, I disagree - I did have some problem because they packaged them without the shields fully inserted in some hands, so the hands were forced open all those months on the shelves (and in my closet), but I digress.. those castle battle packs cost $15/each, came with five guys, and people didn't like them. Now, the Knight's Showdown pack only came with two Knights (and a little catapult and stand) and cost $7. So, instead of $30 for two battle packs (with what some called sub-standard figures), you could buy 5 of the showdown sets for $35, get five of each knight (granted, they're all the same), and a bunch of other miscellaneous pieces. Now, granted, you'd want several different sets to get different figures, but if they had a small 2 to 4 figure set (as I described above) with generic Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff figures, then you could easily build up a bunch - swap out some heads and hair and have whoever you want, and you might have to buy some extra things (tables and such) to get around TLG's restrictions, but that's not too big of a deal, I think. While we're on the subject, I wonder what is going through the minds of TLG's management... they stopped HP because they obviously weren't selling as well as they wanted (don't tell me otherwise... companies don't discontinue products they have a license for if they're selling well), so I wonder what they're thinking now that the sets are selling so well? Also while we're on the subject... who's got the exclusive license for HP action figures? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I don't beleive HP BP's would work, SW BP's are used for army builders.....usually buying more than one pack....goodness what would anyone do with a dozen Ron's eh ? Keep on casting spells ! Quote
Ceroknight Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Thing about battle packs are that there are supposed to have generic figures like the Star wars ones have. Specific characters like the one on your list will probably end up in bigger sets. Quote
pompommini Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Maybe they might make a few small sets like the Kingdoms Jester or Wizard. They could be called Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw student. Hufflepuff comes with a table and a pot with a mandrake inside. The Ravenclaw set comes with a table and a potions caldrun and some bottles. Maybe a Death Eater set as well? Quote
