UsernameMDM Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I noticed that the Collectible Minifig series 4 Hockey Player and SW:CW Savage Opress are wearing the same armor piece with different printing. Does anyone else think this piece would be great for historical or fantasy armor? I could at least see it used as lōrīca segmentāta (of course with the appropriate printing): Quote
Milargo Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Excellent observation. The piece looks great with the hockey print, and decent as Sci-Fi with that yellow Darth Maul(?). But, IMHO, it's too smooth, flat and organic to look believable enough to pass of as historical or fantasy armor. Hope I'm wrong though. Quote
Peanuts Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I don't think it would make a good armor, it looks really too much like what it is. I don't like the use for savage as well, but I would be even more disappointed if it was used for castle. Oh, it is not a new piece. There once was a hockey line, I myself own several of those with ice hockey printings on them. Quote
Chewk Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Isn't that just the same hockey pad piece that was used a few years back? Quote
UsernameMDM Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Isn't that just the same hockey pad piece that was used a few years back? I guess so. I wasn't into the Hockey sets when they came out, so I guess I just missed these. Regardless, seeing that TLG used the piece with new print for Savage Opress, I can see the piece being used as armor for historical/fantasy. Edited February 11, 2011 by UsernameMDM Quote

I think it's a possible candidate for armor pieces applied to phase II armors of clone comanders. http://captrex7567.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/arc_trooper_tcw.jpg Quote
Cutty Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I thought the exact same upon seeing the first collectable series 4 pics. I wasn't sure whether or not it was the same piece in that Star Wars set, but this seems to confirm it. A lorica segmentata would be the obvious choice for this piece. Or any kind of generic fancy-print fantasy armor for that matter (psst! LEGO, listen! Give us LOADS of those, right? Thanks! ;-) ). I hope it's used more in future sets. Be well all! Cutty Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 What set is that from btw? Which one? The hockey player is a collectible Series 4 minifigure; Savage Opress is in a summer Star Wars set. This does look to be the same mould that was used in the only minifigure hockey set from about five years ago. I don't think it would work for Castle at all. Quote
ziljin Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Summer kit of 2011? Well I think the armor looks decent. mostly because it has shoulder pads. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I don't think it would work for Castle at all. With fantasy style armor printing it would be great, especially because of the shoulders (but not for a theme like Kingdoms though). And as I said before, great for lōrīca segmentāta: Quote
Milargo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 And as I said before, great for lōrīca segmentāta: Similar shape, but something tells me the armor just wouldn't mix with historical theme(s). However it'll be interesting just how Lego uses the piece. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see that lōrīca segmentāta armor in Lego. Quote
