MOC: Nyla and June from Avatar

After going through a few ideas that I didn’t have the right pieces for I found something that I could build.

It’s a shirshu, or rather Nyla, the mount of June the bounty hunter. I will admit that it turned out a bit on the stocky side, and that the June figure is rather hastily thrown together. I’ll also apologize for mixing old a new brown on this one. You could just call it natural variations in it’s fur color.

The legs and tail are articulated, although in the tail’s case it’s mostly because it was the best piece I had to attach it to the body.

I know it looks a little strange, but this creature has no eyes. It “sees” though smelling, and quite effectively so.

That brown and gray thing on it’s back is the saddle of course.

And I’m just fooling around with the articulation in this one.

Anyway, the creature is very well made, but June.

I acknowledge that the June figure was rubbish. But a few minutes, a head change and some handmade decals later:

See, I knew you could do it! They both look great. Nice technique for the nose. June's hair looks surprisingly good too. I have been thinking about making these two myself, so I hope you don't mind if I borrow those techniques?

Maybe Zuko vs. Azula (in last episodes) --- a lot of fire.

Or some vignette with Zuko and Iroh (and tea ).

Go ahead and borrow some techniques, I don't mind as I'm curious about the result.

As for the hair, I was thinking about the hairpiece that the hula girl of the collectable minifigures has, but I couldn't find one in black, and the one with the flower on it seemed inappropriate. On the other hand any longer hairpiece wouldn't be capable of turning to cover one of her eyes.
