just2good Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I've confirmed it before, but yeah, a Ninjago Movie Series was planned for September, but the movie got pushed back. So I'd expect that in September 2017. Oh, and I'm not 100% sure but I've heard that we're getting a LEGO Batman Movie Series as well- this is because the movie is planned to have a push on the scale of The LEGO Movie in terms of toys. CM4Sci Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Consider 2017 a non-normal series year then, I guess. Quote
DarrellBricker Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I certainly hope they don't completely abandon the "regular" CMF series in favor of specialty themes only in 2017 ... I don't see myself buying many Ninjago CMFs, and a Batman line would really depend on the figure selection. Disney ... well,l the jury is still out on that one. I am waiting to see what the first Disney series has before I'd commit to a second one. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The ninjago movie series has potential to be a great series. We could finally get civilian variations of the ninja, but that's just wishful thinking. Either way, I look forward to that. I honestly don't what to expect from a Batman movie series. Quote
Robert8 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) My god... We already got black batman, white batman, blue batman, gray batman, red batman, 60's batman, diver batman, pirate batman, robo batman, short legs anime batman ..... They release Batman sets every 6 months! What else can they do? Drag Queen Batman? What a waste for a CMF series... So, Batman Movie is scheduled for february and Ninjago for september, so it would go like this: Jan: Batman Movie Series May: ??????????? Sep: Ninjago Movie Series I know I'm being delusional but I hope the May release will be Series 17 Edited February 15, 2016 by Robert8 Quote
Tech Artist Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 For me to buy anything front Ninjago CMF series it would have to have some amazing Ninjas. Batman would be cool but again it has to be unique. Not just a mash up of Batman and related characters we already have(aka UCS Hoth). Quote
BrickOn Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Is there a chance that 2017 could go: Batman; Series 17; Ninjago? But then I guess 2018 will have The Lego Movie 2 series? And Disney 2 has to go somewhere?? Edited February 15, 2016 by BrickOn Quote
parsom Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I agree with Robert8. Both Ninjago and Batman series is completely without sense. In 2016 we have 23 Ninjago sets (and probably more will come) and how many Batman sets? And these are sets with huge variation of minifigs. What next? Star Wars series? Remember LEGO - don't put all your eggs into one basket. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The lego movie was a big hit, so they're going to do the same with these upcoming lego movies. Quote

Remember LEGO - don't put all your eggs into one basket. Lego knows what sells. Batman is a big seller, Ninjago is a big seller. There is perfect sense to release them both to attract kids to spend their pocket money, as well as getting adults to buy them bigger sets in the range. Quote
Blakstone Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I am okay with both Batman and Ninjago CMF series. I like those lines well enough but LEGO should careful. If they make, for example, the best possible version of the Riddler in the CMF, then he no longer is a draw to sell Batman sets. I hope that Ninjago has some great samurai, monks, and civillians to add to historic MOCs. If they don't, it will be very easy to skip the CMF series. Quote

I'm not sure - it could be like Simpsons series 2. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Ninjago series makes a little sense because the character variants seem to be so popular, and apparently there are a number of major civilians that have not been made yet (not sure, never watched the show). Disney makes complete sense because there is an enormous stable of Disney movie leads (20-30 movies for 50-60 potential characters at least) and there have only been a handful of Disney sets to date. Batman makes NO sense because there are only 20 or so main characters in the series and THEY HAVE ALL BEEN RELEASED IN SETS!!! MULTIPLE TIMES. I don't want any more variants or any more batman villains (Please can I waste a CMF series on a new Killer Croc, a Toy Master (or whatever his name is) and a "Batman in track suit" figure?) No thank you. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Thank you very much for this information, just2good! Two licensed - and for me absolutely not interesting - licensed CMF series in one year?! I hope this is wrong! Imo there should be no licensed CMF series at all because TLG's own designed characters firstly are much more interesting and secondly offer a huge band from historical characters to SF ones. But Batman ... no ... and Ninja ... no - both much too onesided and not compatible with other themes like City, Castle or Wild West. Klaus-Dieter Edited February 15, 2016 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm thinking that the LEGO Batman Movie Series, if there is one, will not be just a bunch of Batman characters, as some seem to be scared of. I'm envisioning it as diverse as The LEGO Movie Series was. It's basically a sequel, anyway. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Well, on the bright side, it could be our chance to get a better Commissioner Gordon :) There's a lot of possibilities with the Batman series. I'm sure there will be characters we've never seen and characters that wouldn't make sense to be in regular sets. Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) 16 Licensed Dc characters for 3.99 each, you say? Hmmmmm... I like the sound of that! Edited February 15, 2016 by LegoPercyJ Quote

Klaus-Dieter As usual, I agree with you Klaus In the interview I posted a few pages ago, when asked about licensed series they said they like to keep the CMF line as LEGO's own thing with their own characters..... and now we're having a whole year with licensed series. I just don't get it Quote
Rogue Angel Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm hoping this is still speculation yet. We haven't confirmed anything except the Ninjago series next year, correct? Quote
BrickFit26 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Please let their be S17 in 2017. I can handle a licensed theme every now and then, a a whole year without a regular series is Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I think that there won't be any Batman themed minifigure series because they can't release batman as a single figure, they don't have the license to. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I always think of that with Star Wars, but I forget that Marvel & DC have the same mini figure restrictions. Quote
Ardelon Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Im as bummed as most people here abiut the potential absence of regular series in 2017, but... A lot of people here seem to be forgetting that this is The LEGO Movie version of Batman, which makes me think the film (and a potential CMF series) will focus on original quirky characters rather than new versions of the Bat family or the rogues gallery. If there are restrictions on licnesed characters as CMFs then packing the series with original characters is one way around it. The licnsed characters could stay exclusive to the sets based on the movie - assuming these restrictions exist for the DC theme and that TLG wont negotiate arund them. Batman and Ninjago series could actually offer plenty in the way of City and Sci-Fi figures, and maybe some Asian-flavored Historic figures in the case of Ninjago (or at least some useful parts). Admittedly, Im grasping at straws here. Quote
