I actually thought of LOTR but wasn't there something in their licensing agreement preventing Lego from making a CMF series, the same way Lego can't make SW CMFs? That is why Lego just keeps making battle packs for SW.

Hm, not that I know of. I only ever heard that with Star Wars.

I could totally agree with DC Series 2 as long as they do some Teen Titans stuff with it

Which ones are we still missing? We've had some in the past:

Nighthawk, Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven.

I suppose Wonder Girl?

To be completely honest, I only suggested it in hopes we get a minifigure of Jinx but those seem like good options too

I believe there is a license clause that limits what LEGO can do in terms of figure packs and minifigs and stuff because of the license held by Games Workshop for the LOTR tabletop RPG stuff.

That's why sets like the Uruk-Hai Army have so much brick content compared to even a Star Wars battle pack.

Well I guess no Lord of the Rings Minifigure Series then.

That's interesting! I wonder if this is a valid argument? We also hear this from Star Wars and Habsro vs CMF.

If i play LOTR tabletop RPGs and a minfigure series is released, would i stop playing the tabletop RPG? If i am a minifigure collector or Lego enthusiast, would i stop collecting minfigures because a tabletop RPG exists? Things like that i fail to understand but the companies involved surely must have collected some data and did their research, no?

I think that is not the point. Likely they wouldn´t care that Lego does a CMF-Series - as long as Lego would pay licensing fees to them, if they hold it.

I play pen&paper on a regular basis for some years now. Lego is awesome, when it comes to making your miniatures for table top. Espeacially the option to switch gear and other parts easily is a huge benefit over resin models you glue and paint. We invested between 10 and 25 euros per player character. Stunning figurines and charming feel of ones childhood (we all grew up with Lego). The problem ist that lots of parts are ridiculously expensive (castle, lotr….). If I wasnt a lego collector in the first place the npcs would stay much less detailed tokens for sure. If Lego made larger amounts of usable figures availabe for an affortable price wargaming companies would feel it. There is a fanmade wargaming system based on Lego already, which works great and explicitly uses this benefit. I made a dwarfen army based on chinese figures combined with Lego and custom pieces. Some warhammer playing friends are planning to do the same now because it is just cool.

Very interesting! Thanks for the insight! Then Lego and tabletop games would indeed be cannibalizing each other.

You're welcome :)

I don't think "each other". But Lego would bite a huge chunk out of the others. The question is if this is enough to satisfy Lego, which I doubt.

Hehe yes, the big eats the small

I only played a little Warhammer 40K with some friends when i was younger. Had some Space Marines, painted with Revell colors. But it makes sense to use Lego for such games. When nothing (or not everything) is glued together you can change stuff easily.

Now that i think of it... maybe some Lego Space marines with these nice shoulder pads... and weaponry...

With Jungle Explorer (Johnny Thunder) and Vampire Knight (Basil the Batlord) making thier comebacks in CMF, series, there will be a few minifigures coming back in Space CMF. Series.

I wonder what classic minifigures we will see in future CMF. Series…. Like - Dash Justine from Alpha Team, Doc from Rock Raider, or whoever?

There is no need for RedBeard’ and Classic Spacemaan becuase we just got them already.

I gaurantee you that Games Workshop (who make the LOTR tabletop stuff) would see LEGO LOTR figures as direct competition.

With the recent re-launch of HeroQuest (now under Hasbro), the new release had to change all the Warhammer related references to Chaos, and change a few monsters in the process, and they started making new, original expansions.

Its very likely that the upcoming Toy Fairs will reveal what the September series will be

Any last guesses before the reveal? Like a mini-guessing game

Animal Crossing or Fortnite.

No way the are doing animal crossing.  I would say Mario before animal crossing.  Fortnite is a possibility.

Have not the leaks from the toy fairs dried up the last years?

I personally hope we end up getting series 26 but given how it's apparently a licensed theme, it's anybody's guess

Why not? Mario has not gotten any Minifig sets yet, and Animal Crossing needs new head moulds that can be made with a CMF budget. That said, I do think that Fortnite is the more likely of the two options (and what I would personally like to see!).

I'm convinced it'll be Fortnite. I'm just curious how much figures it'll contain. The LEGO movie tie-in series usually had more minifigures and given this is a huge project collaboration with LEGO, it's pretty likely it will feature a lot of figures, maybe even 24. Also, there are many figures they could include as well as a lot of new moulds they would need to make so there's certainly a massive collection of figures they could do.
