What other internal CMF sub-theme can they spin off as a series of its own?

We had Space, then Animal Costumes... what next, Castle? Pirates?

By the way, how did the D&D and F1 series sell?

Personally, I didn't like the D&D series (and Im a huge medieval fantasy fan). Some of the minifigure looked knock-offy.

And, from what I read on social media, the majority of fans seemed to dislike the F1 one. But that doesnt necessarily mean it didnt sell well.

I hope there wont be another one of those both licenses

Well at least for the D&D series, I think we can be quite sure that it sold well and was well received among AFOLs at least. F1 wasn´t well received among AFOLs but as you said that doesn´t have to mean much for the sales. But I got the impression they weren´t going as well as the D&D figures at least.

I think we have to take into account the plurality of the individual parts ... some of the DnD minifigs had parts that could be nonspecific and much reusable. For example, the Dragonborn paladin had a torso and legs that are good for minifig MOCs. Same with the halfling druid.

A series that pays homage to previous themes from the 2000's to mid 2010's

Not just Space and Animal Costumes CMF Series, we also had Halloween in 2015, birthday party in 2018, and costume party in 2022.

I would love to see special themed CMF Seires based on past in-house themes from 1980s to 2010s.

For example, Under the Sea CMF relating to Aquazone, Aqua Raider, Atlantis. Or Pirates relating to all pirate themes. Or Castle relating to all castle themes.

Even tho we already have Johnny Thunder in Series 19 in 2019, we should see Adventurers CMF Series!

Well after Space we were all hoping for Castle, but that didn´t happen yet. But anyways we are kinda expecting a licensed series anyways, if 28 is costumes and 29 will very likely be a regular one.

Yeah, exactly. And I don´t see that in a ST series, and even the space series didn´t seem to go that well.

Well they do a minifigure in regular series including references to old series and I could see them doing one like this for a jubilee series (like for the minifigure), though from the whole timeframe and not specific to 2000 onwards.

I think the Space series drummed up a lot of excitement for the M:Tron and Blacktron figs and themes. Although I think some fans were disappointed with the lack of parts to complete the Blacktron Alien. Apart from those two, there possibly were just another two or three 'interesting' figs. I'm a Classic Space fan so I would nominate the brown space guy. But I agree that the versatility of the parts and minifigs themselves were not really there.

I feel like Castle would yield a lot of desirable figs. For one, how many 'active' factions do we currently have out there? Horse, Snakes, Griffins, and Krakens. Add in the much-wanted Crow/ Ravens.

I am now thinking that perhaps Pirates may not yield as many interesting figs.

Looking at those leaflets/ checklists again... how about a Sports, or Circus, or mythological figures theme? LOL

The Brown Spaceman wasn´t even in that series ;). Many were disappointed, that no Classic Spacemen made it in there - and honestly, I would have expected at least a Futoron Fig, then I could have understood that they didn´t want to include the classic spaceman there - but on the other side, they probably thought the City figures would feed that need.

Mythological, as well as Historical Series in general would IMO sell like crazy. Circus would probably give some interesting figures and could include some nice parts, but I am totally not interested in a sports series.

Even Pirates wouldn´t go that bad IMO, as it could still have a lot of different figures, including mermaids, imperials and such.

I think we've waited long enough for a Sonic CMF to happen, there's practically a gold mine of options to choose from that I already have a few ideas

Oh yes, Brown Space was in the earlier Series, my bad! I think I was somewhat confusing it with the pink baby!!!

I am really missing more of the gods and goddesses and other mythological creatures? Not sure why Lego all of a sudden stopped including those??? One could argue Cupid made a recent appearance but it was the cutesy version!

Roman/ Greek mythology + Egyptian figures. We are missing those.

Personally, I’m hoping for Disney S4 :excited: The previous three are still among my favourites and there’s so much they can still do! Either that or a new license.

I would never say no to more Disney.

I’m sorry that Animal Costumes series is not for you, even tho there is a white clam.  But - I’m very happy with Series 28, just like Space Series 26. I won’t’ call Seires 28 “useless’…. i think @williejm will build a furry party!

However, I’m ready for non-themed in-house series like Seires 29.

Not everyone is going to be happy with everything. (Really reminds me of the skit from SNL about "Romano Tours"  )

I think as far as Lego is concerned, they are satisfying a certain segment of the market: those who like these whimsical costumes. Let the free market be the judge of whether this is a successful series or not.

I've bought all the CMFs in the past, except the F1. It probably did not sell as well as the other ones overall but then again, you see so many third-party display companies making cases/ frames for it!?!? So Lego must have done something right with that!

Third party accessory sellers aren’t necessarily the best indicator of success. They’ll put out those frames no matter what because they know there will be some business for them, but they don’t disclose sales details anymore than Lego does. I dare say there are probably some F-1 fans who’d rather get the more compact version of the complete set instead of the larger speed champion style versions that Lego put out, but only so much of any CMF’s profit is collectors buying complete sets. Mini F-1 cars just isn’t going to have the same casual appeal as Disney characters or even an unlicensed series of minifigs, and parents might indulge their kids desire to find their favorite character, but are more likely to just buy however many cars their kids need to all race each other and be done with it or just skip the blind box and get the speed champion version if their kid is actually in to car racing enough to have a favorite team.

Still not sure why Lego did let make it its own separate thing like Unikitty or Mario.

We are all wondering that, maybe it was a experiment or they not have the resources to to both, like that one year they rereleased the toy shop in the winter village line because they could not make a new one  :shrug_oh_well:

I think that makes sense, Unikitty got additional budget as a show they wanted to push and Mario was a big licence they wanted to justify massive R&D costs for given all the tech. F1 is just another licence no different from D&D or Looney Tunes or any other one off in terms of LEGO's investment in it

I'm surprised we still haven't gotten any news on the late 2026 release. Usually all three of them are found out at around the same time.

I fear we must steel ourselves, as the three series run of ‘meh’ to us has probably raised our hopes a bit for Series 29 - when in fact at least half the slots will be yet more costumes and ‘kids doing a thing’.

That’s fair but I doubt we will see another animal costumes in Series 29. Maybe vehicle and food? We don’t get taxi, submarine, biplane, airplane (not like one Amelia-inspired), French fries, potato, pineapple, etc?

Vehicle or Food Costume CMF Series, anyone?

Only Hot-rod and minecart costumes for me. Other than that, I think we might have had enough for costume figures for a while
