Some previously released CMFs parts will be returning this year

Very cool, although that skirt leaves much to be desired.

Hopefully this continues to include minifigure parts that are more desirable (by me).

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, so please correct me if that's the case. I just wonder if this theme is likely to continue pretty much ad infinitum. It seems to me that Lego has realized it's a cash cow, and we've had new series for 7 (and soon 8) years in a row. At the same time, they're bound to have a harder time coming up with fresh ideas, the more figures are released. I wonder if there will be a last series, what number it would be and when it might be released. I remember the rumors back in the day when people said Series 5 would be the last one, and we clearly got a lot after that. Does anyone have any insight/thoughts about this?

I think as of a couple years ago hey have a list of literally hundreds of ideas. There are so many they can do, too, like.. I personally still want a chef and a firefighter. There are tons of costume ideas, burgers, corn, butterfly, more animals... There are so many ideas they haven't done and I don't think they'll stop until after The LEGO Movie 2.

Yeah, I don't see it ending any time soon. There are hundreds of ideas, like the ones mentioned above, or a Wolfpack Bandit. Also, their list is quite extensive. I don't think they'll ever make all of the minifigures they'd like to make, even if this goes on for another decade or more.

That's some interesting information. Personally, I hope that I'll be able to keep collecting the numbered series (I like to get full series). I like how this theme has diversified my minifig collection. I don't see the theme ending soon either. Wouldn't it be amazing if we ever got to Series 50 or so? At some point it'll be too hard for someone to start and try to collect them all.

There are still a lot of CMF's they can do. I have a wishlist for like +300 plausible minifigures. And I didn't even consider some religious related ideas like the Cuttle Little Devil because I thought it was something they would never do, but they did it.

So, I'd say the CMF line will end when the theme is not longer profitable, rather than they running out of characters.

-------

That being said, I feel the normal CMF line has been harmered in S14, S15 and S16 by bad decisions

S14 was a bad idea overall, and S15 and S16 release dates were a mess.

I think that if they keep raising the price, eventually they will raise it too high and either admit the mistake by taking it back down to a profitable market equilibrium or act like it was a good idea and just end the line.

That's a good point as well. They may just price themselves out of the market.

You bring up a fair point. However, I am also wondering if they could somehow fatigue the market for these guys.

Honestly, I don't think S14 was a bad idea at all. If anything, it was an attempt to keep the theme fresh by trying something new. A lot of those figures where popular in my experience. Personally I wouldn't mind if they tried that again to keep the theme fresh. I do agree that the release of S16 was messy.

Pretty true and sad... I'd hate to see the CMF theme end because of corporate greed. I'd only accept price increases if they were associated with even more detailing in the figures.

I only can confirm following:

Batman CMF Series will be released in January, will have black bags and there'll be 20 different minifigs.

CMF Series 17 will be released in May. (So much to wait til then since the own CMFs of Lego are always the best and not their licensed ones!)

Do you know what color S17 will have?

I think yellow was shown. But I wouldn't count on that since I could well imagine that they use yellow as a regular prelim color - like even the minifigs.

That's my face right now!

Because the retailer catalog have the actual color of the Series!

S12 was yellow, S15 was orange, S11 was green....

Where's that from? :look:

Please no, enough with the yellow bags. Do red or white again, but no more yellow.

2017 is Batman, Series 17, NinjaGo it seems.

2018 is Series 18 and 19 and Disney?

2019 is LEGO Movie 2.

I mean if they really start to run out of ideas just get new licenses and remake old themes in an updated outfit. I'd gladly take a new Wolfpack minifigure or an Ice Planet one. Even a simple hiker is amazing. (Be even better if his compass fit correctly.)

Maybe someone forgot to change the color from the prelim color before, and that's why we've been stuck with yellow.

Could it be that they don't plan to change the bag colors anymore, sticking with yellow in secula secolorum? :look: I hope not, as my reasoning would be that the colors serve to easily differentiate the bags from different series in store. I already thought I saw series 16 from afar in a Target that had series 12.

Thanks for the info @Klaus-Dieter

So I guess it has become a thing now....that for licensed CMF they all going to be a set of 20 instead of 16
