Even if it was cheaper than the impertinent 5€. Third..ed - For me this is more a personal statement though. I cannot support an increase to the current price. £3 is my personal maximum and I will not go over that. Also, as other have stated, it's a very underwhelming series. Quote
Robert8 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Sadly, I concur. This is one of the poorest offerings in a CMF wave ever. They went too deep into the rabbit hole with some of these. I just don't know who they are. And after reading some comments on social media, it seems I'm not alone. On the other side, there are characters like Superman and Joker who could be on any set, and they are just branding them as "Collectible Minifigures" because they have some extra lines of printing. For me that's not how the CMFs work. They were meant to be super special characters that you wouldn't get on a random set like the circus characters, monsters, fairytales and such. But here we have like the n-th version of Joker, WonderWoman, Batman and Superman being sold as CMFs. I hope TLG will bring the theme back home with CMF Series 20 because this one.... Quote
Roebuck Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Good for fans that want to collect the figs, but for me I almost hope it is a bad seller so we do not see anything similar for a while That is the problem with licensed series they usually divide the AFOLs into fans that love it and the rest do not care or hate it. I love the HP/FB series and have at least one of each, but do not have a single fig from Simpsons, Disney, Batman, "sports" etc.. I am happy when those series on a rare occasion give me a new animal like the lobster, but just see how many animals I got with the last normal series in comparison The normal series has always something for everyone so too bad it is not 2 normal and one licensed a year, but at least I save money Quote

Thanks. Jumper plate and new trans stud to create a new one-legged “action pose” for display purposes. Yeah I know, but guess they have to somehow justify the price increase with a straight face. gedren_y Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I like the specialty hand piece they use for Aquaman. A proper lantern piece for Green Lantern and Sinestro is also nice. I'd need a better look at the prints to make a decision on some of the other figs. It's all about usefulness for me. Quote
Rockstaremcee Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 RAGE!!!!! Freaking anger!!! [mimes throwing desk lamp into wall] I just saw one of the "sneak peaks" of the new series. "Oh joy [sarcasm] another freaking DC/Batman series after the already overly-saturated offerings of Batman/Lego Batman/ Series 1&2 LBTM/DC Super Heroes!!! WHERE THE megabluck IS A MARVEL SERIES?!?!?! @#$^%@$@#$^#$%@#$% ... Cough... Ahem... Please hold, while de-Hulk-ing... Thanks for waiting... Your call in important to us, please stay on the line... Allllllllllllrighty then! Yes, very disappointed with this new offering. Was uninterested the second I saw it, and then I saw the price increase and my Gamma levels went full nuclear. It looks with the previous comments I have yet to read that I am not alone. All that said, I will still probably buy these, when they are on sale/marked down etc but simply because I ALREADY HAVE a huge display case of 'All the Batman's' and I enjoy showcasing the many variations. I just would have been incredibly happier with other options. Can't they just listen to @Robert8?? I feel there are likely people tasked with the job that haven't put in anywhere near the work of all his beautiful creations! If we held a forum vote for the 18 best and 18 least popular designs, I would gladly buy the 18 least popular over these. Thank you for reading my rant. Go forth and multiply [your collections.] Quote

What the price increase is concerned - well, that's a completely different story... Please bear in mind that we have a 150% price increase in the last ten years! So I would like to express my ... disliking there once again. But I'm fine with everyone buying these minifigs. The don't waste spend my money after all. Quote

I think the reason that the ‘normal’ series are now chocka with new animals etc is precisely because the CMF distribution has changed to include licenceee themes ... so they need to ‘up their game’ on normal series and compensate in a way for specialist series. My logic is always bulletproof Maybe you have a point, the WW CMF definitely had a lot of animals If we see a arms-race of animal moulds, we should be in for a real treat next year with series 20 and WW 2 (pun not intended) Quote
Grover Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 From a strange perspective, maybe this series will be good. Just looking at it, it doesn't seem like a great seller for many of the reasons everyone has listed above. I'm kind of hoping that's the case because if it doesn't sell well, that will hopefully tell TLG that they are priced too high and that the DC/Batman licensed themes are getting tired. With respect to this series, there are a couple of pieces in there that I want, and the leopard woman will be great for a costume party, but that's about it, and I'm not going to buy any of those at full price. I'll either bricklink the parts I need or get the figures when they're at least 50% off. I would agree that the unlicensed themes have more broad appeal. I don't mind occasional licensed themes, but they have become the norm rather than the exception. Add to that one of the more recent unlicensed themes was actually themed as a costume party, so it was somewhat contentious among AFOLs. I'd personally like to see only one licensed theme a year. Itaria No Shintaku Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Just two notes. 1) Price increase is not random. Better parts, better prints, licenses (though not a lot of people want them). It's however based on something. We may agree on the fact that we don't need licensed series, or that many minifigures from series 19 were boring, but you can't deny that from the Crash Test Dummy (no headgear, one printed tile and one 0,03€ screw) / Wrestler (no headgear, no accessories but the cape) to the BMX Rider (All printed and a frigging entire BMX Bike in the bag) doubling the price is based on something real.. 2) There is no range for a Marvel Series. I have read this over and over. Hasbro has the license for posable action figures of Marvel Universe, so TLG can't make them. They have to include them in construction toys or give them for free (SDCC, you hear me?) Quote
gedren_y Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 From what I can tell, the main DC license seems to have some slightly higher costs associated with it. There may even be some parts that can only be used within the license (that lantern seems likely). A number of the molds might never even get used again (Flash's helmet). Quote
Darth Shadowthrone Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I've just seen on Brickset that the DC series is going to be £3.50 each which is a bit annoying but I wasn't planning on getting many of the DC bags anyway. Still, that's definitely going to have an impact on my wallet over time with the upcoming Series 20 and especially with Wizarding World One thing I'm hoping for is that it means Lego are going to be even more generous with their accessories in the upcoming series. We got absolutely spoiled for animals last series so hopefully that continues plus I wouldn't be surprised if Lego are no longer worried about a slightly higher piece count with brick-built accessories (what's the highest piece count a minifigure has had? Maybe Jack Skellington?) I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Quote
Anonknee Muss Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I’m not so sure. We had reports that there will be no price increase in Europe. Now we have conflicting reports. Time will tell. Quote
Robert8 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Make sense. If superheroes series are harder to sell in Europe, then keeping the price sounds about right Quote
