MOC: Modern Fire Truck to fit inside of 10197

[Triborough]

After a break of many many years, I got back into Lego. The first really big set I got was the Fire Brigade 10197. I was a bit disappointed as the firefighter minifigs were modern, but they had a vintage fire truck. (I was also a bit unhappy they were a bit on the plain side with standard faces.) I fixed this by creating a new crew to man the rig, but in the old school fire torso pattern.

That went pretty well, but it didn't really satisfy me. So I had the challenge of creating a modern fire truck that would fit in the space.

This is what I came up with and is sort of an amalgam of various contemporary North American fire apparatus. It can hold two minifigs in a front seat/back seat arrangement - not ideal, but I wanted to have the same capacity as the other rig.

The taillights posed a bit of a problem, as I couldn't get them on the back, but I think I came up with a workable solution.

I actually kept the old fire truck since it does look nice, despite being a bit flimsy. It would be perfect in a parade scene. Plus it is also handy to have in doing something retro.

Great job on the firetruck, but I personally think the one that comes with 10197 goes with the set better.

Great fire truck, indeed 'Triborough'. Looks great. Neat solution for the tail lights but, I think I four 1x1 trans red squares or two 1x2 trans red plates to replace the two bluish grey plates on the bumper would complete its modern makeover. Great work anyway and welcome to EB

A very well done fire truck indeed, I like the almost overall studless look and the interesting details, even if I still feel the old-style classic design of the fire truck in the 10197 still fits the set better than this one. Good job still!

Excellent fire truck 'Triborough', modern design but still has some retro feel to it !

My only advice, a running board on the back of the truck to stand on to gain access to the rear equipment stores.

Thanks. I would have loved to have added that element, but it wouldn't have fit in the building! It barely fits now.

Yes. Not saying the truck that came with the station, yours is better. I also can say the truck that cam with the fire helicopter does with the station well, but yours wins hands down. If only I had the pieces to build my own creations.
