Well, if they have the finished product to take pics of for the website, they'll have had them done for some time (same with Toa Inika, all boxed before anything official came up about them). They probably took it down because it was an error to put it up so early, or because there is still more than a month until the release date the page displayed (20th September).

So, its a mixture of feeling, past experience and common sence that makes up my opinion. :-P

But we're talking about TLG here, common sense rarely applies :-P

No really ?? Looool :-P

Just in the past couple of days:

* The pic of the horrendous Christmas train popping on TLG's own website :-|

* they gave pics to websites (Target in the present case) who off course uses them to sell September products (september is in two weeks d'oh) and they had to take them off :-|

* and now putting sets too early ?? What the hell is that too early ?? Do they want to make money or what ?

And I miss so much more :-D

Seriously, it will be back ;-) Lets all be patient on that one TOO (G, patience is really the common denominator talking about TLC lately :-| )

*yoda*

I just got my copy of the chess set in the mail yesterday. I have to say, they really stepped it up on the design for the rook. They both have a powerful design, especially the red side.

Great faces (gotta love the dark blue capes). If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to answer them about the set

Wonderful! A few questions: Is the checkerboard completely glued? Will you review the set? Could you kindly identify the faces of the blue side? How does the Viking carrying case compare to the Knights' Kingdom version? (If you own it.)

I'll gladly do a review. I wasn't sure if people would want one or not, as it's not really that much of a set, but since you do, sure.

I do own the KK chess set, and I have to say, there's significantly more glue in this one :'-(

The following pieces have glue:

Queen (torso to base, this surprised me the most)

Rook (completely glued except for minor aspects like a torch)

Knight (just the 2x2 base)

And yes, the board is completely glued.

The faces for the blue side are:

This for the pawns

This for the King

This for the Bishop

And while I can't find the picture on Peeron, the head of the Queen is a standard smilie with some pink lipstick. This face is new to Vikings, but I have another one of these from somewhere, I just can't remember what theme. The faces of Bishops, Kings, and Queens are the same on both sides, only the pawns differ.

The Viking carrying case is nearly identical to that of the KK one, except the cover has a different image (replicating the appearance of worn wood), and the texture feels a bit cheaper. Otherwise packaging is the same, and it's still very nice.

I'll take pictures and have a review up hopefully in the next few hours.
