Hi. I am from Brunei (South East Asia). The Lego selling here locally are almost double the price that's selling in the US.

I have tried ordered some sets from Amazon.com and DHL here and it ends up still cheaper than buying locally. And moreover I can get some hard-to-fine sets that are not available locally.

I only knew the following places where I can buy Lego online:

- Lego S@H

- Amazon.com

- Barnes and Noble

- Target

- Walmart

- Bricklink

Are there any other online sites that I can buy? Sites like Walmart has special discounts that I can saved to compensate for the high shipping costs.

Would appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

Just ordered the Pet Shop from S@H and now it is on its way to myus.com which will act as the middleman to help send the set to me. So this particular order will cost me around $150 (Pet shop) and $70 (DHL) = $220US (you can get it at this price even if it's selling locally).

I would assume that these are the favorite contenders. However in Switzerland we have a general website like Comparis.ch or Toppreise.ch which allow you to search online vendors for various items; often I can find Lego models for around 20% the price for delivery here.

Perhaps there is a similar price comparison website available in Brunei?... it is not always the initial place to think of but can be helpful. E.g. I discovered (through Toppreise) that the Swiss Post Office is selling Lego; which has a discount for 10% off until end of August, and includes free delivery. Not much help for Brunei; but gives a good example.

I guess you forgot ebay, which is another good place to find and buy Lego.

I know how you feel about buying in your own country - here in Brazil, Lego average prices are three times more expensive (yes, 3x MORE!) than they are in the US.

Thats nuts man.

So how much would 3182 or 3181 or 7498 be?

The only place that sells Lego here is in one chained mall (like Walmart/Target in US), and their prices is more or less double what's selling in the US, and they do not carry those exclusive sets that I want like HP Diagon Alley, Medieval Market, Winter Toy Shop, Pet Shop. They only stock those popular sets. I will only wait for sales then I will consider buying some Creator sets. Sales is usually 15-25% off the regular price, which I still can consider buying them.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I just don't want to miss out on some sites that I haven't come across. So I guess my best bet is still Amazon/Target/Walmart as they provide free shipping within US.

Here you go:

* 3182 City Airport: That's USD 99,99 (at Lego S@H). In Brazil, it costs around BRL 499,99 (at Ri Happy toys).

* 3181 Passeger Plane: That's USD 36,95 (at JoyLot). But in Brazil it costs around BRL 189,99 (again at Ri Happy toys).

* 7498 Police Station: That's USD 95,54 (at Amazon). I have no links for that one in Brazil, but I know it costs around BRL 550,00 at any store because I have plans to buy it so I'm saving money for it. But I just found it on Mercado Livre (that's our "Brazilian ebay") for BRL 369,00 (check it in here).

(Please notice I'm using the cheapest prices out of a quick Google search)

USD 1,00 = BRL 1,53 (as of today).

So for a set that costs say, USD 100,00 (BRL 153,00), we pay around 3,25 times more. Sad but true. :(

That's why I usually use Bricklink or ebay. I only buy Lego in Brazil when the total cost (product + shipping) is more or less the same for an ebay or other internet buy.

Thats nuts!!

It makes no sense that you can get it cheaper than someone who owns a store.

Unless there are a lot of people who dont know any better.

I would contact that store and show them that you can get it cheaper.

Tell them that there are a lot of brazilians who buy lego from ebay/lego online.

Maybe they will change their prices and stop raping you guys!

For me, Amazon tend to have the cheapest prices and very quick, free delivery. However they do not see every set; LEGO Exclusives I of course buy from at S@H.

A trick I use is to search the set you would like to buy in Google Shopping, and put the Search Filter in at Price: Low to High. The first reliable retailer you see will be the cheapest you can get that set.

Hope I helped :classic:
