Lind Whisperer Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I just realized that, in the complete absence of a Good-Evil scale system, a person could technically play a lovable kleptomaniac rogue without any negative effects. Not that Lind would ever dream of such a thing, but the possibilities for someone trying to eh, 'Munchkin' such a system are...quite literally almost unimaginable... Not that I would play Lind that way. Not at all. Furthest thing from my mind... Quote
Actaeon Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I'm waiting for my Nintendo 64 to arrive from our shipment. We moved back to the states and we still haven't gotten our stuff yet. I'm going to borrow the Zelda games and some other classics to play since I never actually played them as a kid. I'm looking forward to it! Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I had Silver when I was too young to have any idea what I was doing, but I don't doubt that's why I stopped playing it. I bought the special edition pokemon yellow gameboy when I was in 8th grade. That was my first non-PC gaming console. I think I sill have it stashed somewhere around the house. Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 That megablocking scary walrus thing from Pingu should be a quest boss. Get on it, QMs! Quote
Flipz Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Just noticed. No loot. boo Concur. Boo! Welcome to Zepher Quests: a few pieces of incredibly awesome loot, and then nothing for the rest of the Quest. (Just kidding, Zeph, you know we love you! ) Is it just me or is Quest #104 moving quickly? Or are we just talking a lot? There are already 13 pages of discussion Look at who your Quest Master is. Then look at the number of posts under his name. Then realize that more than 95% of those posts are from this one forum. You're moving quite quickly (even though I keep feeling like I ought to be updating more frequently). It's one of the perks of having a QM who's completely addicted to the game. Quote
CMP Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I mentioned to JimBee that I thought second characters would be on the whole built on even more creative ideas given how much experience their players have acquired. We're only two in and I still think that will prove to be accurate. You don't get to start with a Tonic, though. Quote

And yes, I'm looking forward to seeing the secondary characters and the wackiness that will ensue. Quote
JimBee Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Quest 108: no XP for solving puzzles? It'd be neat if they started granting experience. I know it's been done rarely in the past, but shouldn't it be done more often? Quote

I know it's been done rarely in the past, but shouldn't it be done more often? The thing is whether or not you give experience to the person who solves it (which is generally time-zone dependent) or do you give it to the whole party? I'd love to give experience for puzzles and have in the past, the issue is with making things balanced. Battles at least grant everybody the opportunity for experience. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I think it should definitely be done if the puzzle prevents a fight, beyond that it would probably be on a case by case basis. The thing is whether or not you give experience to the person who solves it (which is generally time-zone dependent) or do you give it to the whole party? I'd love to give experience for puzzles and have in the past, the issue is with making things balanced. Battles at least grant everybody the opportunity for experience. One option would be a PM system where each party member can submit a possible solution within a certain time-limit so multiple people can submit the solution to the puzzle, but that would limit party collaboration on some puzzles. It is an interesting problem to try and solve. Also, I really like the current puzzle but I think if I built a gear mechanism to open a door, the gear ratio would go the opposite direction. A 1:20 ratio would require a decent bit of torque to open a door with any significant mass and it would probably open the door much faster than necessary. Quote
Zepher Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I might just have to start mine shortly so that we can have all the second characters go on a quest together. But first I have to get on top of my quests - 107, I'm sorry for another wait so early in the game, but I must sleep before updating! It should come in about 8 hours. I would have given my players XP if they'd figured out and blocked any of the entrance ways. That was the puzzle of this quest. But they didn't get it. Matthias was pretty darn close if he hadn't given up. Quote

True, but I was more concerned with the type of puzzle (i.e. a math one) rather than the plausibility. Good point though. Quote
Flipz Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Sorry, 104, I'm just too wiped to push out another update. I'd rather get some rest and come back tomorrow with something good than force out something substandard tonight. Quote
Khorne Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I realy like these new second characters. Miderun seems like and even blunter version of Tesni Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Polly & Mr. Sanders (Waterbrick Down) Tibbers? Quote
Flare Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Agreed. Must... get... second character. Seriously I have so many good ideas, though But I still to either host three more quests, or participate in three more quests Edited August 5, 2014 by Flare Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Tibbers? Ah, you found the first half of my inspiration. I've never played LoL, but some of the hero art does wonders for the imagination. Quote
Kintobor Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 See, now that the second character doesn't have to be connect to the first, I'm conflicted whether I still want to use Sorcha or not, despite still wanting a Barbarian. Quote

I had a few NPC's that I considered playing as, but since they've already got lives of their own that can and have been built upon by other QM's already, I'd rather start with someone new and keep my NPC's open for public use. Actaeon Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Polly & Mr. Sanders (Waterbrick Down) Is this based off of Annie from League of Legends? Love the figure, by the way! Quote
The_Customizer Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Is this based off of Annie from League of Legends? Love the figure, by the way! Agreed, it is pretty spot on to Annie, being a darkness mage, having a teddy bear, now she just needs to be able to summon a massive one as well! Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Is this based off of Annie from League of Legends? Love the figure, by the way! Agreed, it is pretty spot on to Annie, being a darkness mage, having a teddy bear, now she just needs to be able to summon a massive one as well! Yep, first half of my inspiration, you'll have to watch her to get the second. Isn't Annie some sort of fire witch? I've never played the game so not too clear on it, but yes Evoker is in Polly's future. Quote
