Palathadric Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Bah, need to go on #107 quick so I can kill Hybros and Daneeka and make Zylstra a better place. Lind vs. McCoy-Special Damage (McCoy Sealed) Guts vs. McCoy- Special Damage/Special Damage (McCoy Sealed) Guts vs. McCoy- Damage/Special Damage (31-7=24 damage) Thormanil vs. McCoy- Special Damage (McCoy Sealed) What luck! Dice change, Kintober? "Aura is one of the powers of the Warden class. By 'roll,' I mean that the Voice In The Sky has randomly decided that my subconscious has successfully performed this powerful but possibly life-threatening ability which I don't really want at this time, but which has to be a possibility because the universe has to be fair to our enemies so that we can't just run around killing everything to get loot and XP. For example, Raiders used to be able to kill just about anyone and everything, but then the other Voices In The Sky nerfed the curriculum that the Copper Fox teaches from in order to keep the conflicts of the universe balanced." Despite not doing much in the way of role-playing, Brickdoctor's character has got to be the must hilarious ever. Quote
Kintobor Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 What luck! Dice change, Kintober? The party of 103 is the last party that honestly needs a dice change. I need my NPC to be somewhat challenging before Guts steamrolls them! Quote
Flare Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 And if you thought #109 would be hard to make fair battles, now I've been accepted into #110 with three other Level 1 players, I hope you know what you're doing, KingoftheZempk Quote
StickFig Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Classic Heroica: Heroes complain enemy is too tough, beat them in less than three rounds. ...every single round runs the risk of a player KO with no recourse. There is always more loot. XP is a fixed, drip fed resource. While I agree with CK - I really don't like the instant death mechanism against players - I think if you go back and read what we said, no one complained about the toughness. It wasn't a "tough" enemy to begin with. There is a difference between "tough" (requires lots of consumables, different strategy than wade in and whack 'em, takes a while to kill) and "luck-based" (which is what this one was). The only thing we asked about here was whether you were trying to kill off some NPCs. I'll complain about this battle more in the QM Lounge after the quest. What we did complain about was this: I think we're all just getting a bit tired of her. Seeing as this was the third fight... Three battles in three weeks isn't too bad by my book. Yes, three battles in three weeks is fine. Three battles, back-to-back-to-back, against the same enemy, with no plot or character development in between, is Endgame. It's kind of complicated. Lind, I know he's a Munchkin, but you should realize that your character doesn't have to do and be everything hahaha. I know it's hard - I want Matthias to be the coolest, most hardcore character ever, and also hilarious to read, and the highest level character ever, and on and on... but what makes the game interesting is that not every character is all those things. For instance, Matthias is definitely too cool (too poor?) to play this silly Decamon game.... Quote
Flipz Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 That's one of the things that makes Arthur hard to play--he's had SO many plot lines and SO many moments of development in the past that it's hard to find anything solid to build on anymore. (That and he's gotten rather boring, especially over the last several months.) In some ways I find myself thinking that 99 may have been his swan song in terms of engagement and relevance to the game and the world--everything else just seems superfluous after that lovely "quiet world" moment he had in the Marketplace right before he met Lind. (No offense to Lind or his character! It just seems like if I was making a show or a novel or a webcomic about Heroica, that's probably where I'd drop Arthur as a main character--perhaps bringing him back for cameos or background appearances or to "pass the torch" to someone else, but not really following his plot anymore. ) Quote
Duvors Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 On an entirely unrelated note; has anyone here seen the trailer for Bound? Because I think It's simply fantastic. Quote

Duvors Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) P.S. - Duvors, I've always been confused by your signature of Throlar - is he two guys? Four? One? Just one, there is an npc he interacts with sometimes and I currently have two separate outfits for him, I'll be simplifying it sometime, but at present I don't have much opportunity.EDIT; I've removed the second avatar picture. Lind Whisperer Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Lind, I know he's a Munchkin, but you should realize that your character doesn't have to do and be everything hahaha. I get that. I was trying to figure out how the heck I would ever collect all of the cards, if they were going to be released regularly in the hall. To much digital $$$. Slightly hilarious in that someone figured out how to perfectly recreate the "must-have-them-all" feeling with cards that don't even exist in real life... Would anyone want to join me in creating a club, the Cardholders Club? Basically, this is my idea. Since obviously no one person could collect all of these cards, I was thinking that perhaps several players could, together, own a complete set(or two) of cards. Perhaps Sandy might let us have our own little thread, an offshoot of the Treasury, called the Card Library*? Here's how it works. Whoever is available to purchase cards when they are up for sale collects them, and they are "stored" in the library - one set on permanent display, and one or more sets that members of the club can "check out" temporarily for playing with. Why a library would be better for you, the player(/GM), than trying to collect them: It would give you the chance to use cards that you weren't able to collect because of money/location constraints. It would give us a central database that we could quickly access if a QM or player needed a picture of the cards. Only members of the club can "check out" cards, and there is a time limit, so everyone gets a chance to play. *In-universe it would be a little room next to the Treasury. That's one of the things that makes Arthur hard to play--he's had SO many plot lines and SO many moments of development in the past that it's hard to find anything solid to build on anymore. That's why I'm limiting how much I RP Lind - basically, he searches/loots everything he sees, and he makes a joke every round in battle. Plenty of room to develop him more in time, but no need to do it too quickly. Quote

Whoever is available to purchase cards when they are up for sale collects them, and they are "stored" in the library - one set on permanent display, and one or more sets that members of the club can "check out" temporarily for playing with. Somehow I get the feeling that since Decamon is about winning and losing cards, that might not work... for example, I "check out" a bunch of level 7 and 8 cards from the "library," then lose a bunch of them to a particularly well-played NPC, and bring back just one or two level 1 cards.... Good point. I was thinking about a rule that limited playing to other PCs, but the problem remains... Here's a new idea: Cards can only be played against other players. Card games(using library cards) can only be played inside the library, and non-library cards are not allowed(in library games). Cards stay in the library, and are returned as soon as a game is over. It would have the added bonus of keeping all card games in one location, so the Hall could remain more of a place for RP and quest posting. Quote
StickFig Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Card games(using library cards) can only be played inside the library, and non-library cards are not allowed (in library games). Ehh, that more or less defeats the point of having Decamon throughout the Olegaia - and it doesn't help anyone who wants to play against NPCs. As a second problem, say Lind and Matthias go to the library to play. Matthias makes it a point to let Lind choose his cards first (which you then post to the library thread), and I simply have Matthias choose cards that can beat yours. And as a third problem, good luck getting a bunch of cash-strapped characters to donate cards or gold to establish the library in the first place.... P.S. - This applies directly to Heroica and everything in it. Plenty of room to develop [insert thing here] more in time, but no need to do it too quickly. Quote
StickFig Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I know, I know, double post, but this is too funny: Ahh you would be the little man from under the table. That which is up is the sky. Are you by chance an under dweller. Is that why You so frequently ask about it? That was totally dope, dude! Quote

Pandora Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Just a friendly reminder, as there's been a lot of it recently, please stay on topic in this thread. It's great that there's a friendly atmosphere, but regardless this thread should be for general discussion regarding Heroica only. Thank you. Quote
