Lind Whisperer Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) I guess you're probably a little young to remember Polaroids. Got it. I've never taken a picture with one, but the Decamodifier actually did remind me of them when I looked at it. I was thinking that there was some sort of pop culture reference that I was missing - it happens annoyingly often... Interestingly enough, they're still making Polaroid cameras even today - I was looking at the different models a few weeks ago. I guess having a printed photograph is one of those things that never will entirely go out of style. Edited November 5, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Flipz Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 The obvious solution, Sandy, is to put all of the people who signed up on both Quests, and let them duke it out over which one actually sets out. Seriously, though, I find it hilarious that you have the same five people signed up for both Quests, with no preferences given whatsoever, making it impossible to even send one off while keeping the other delayed. Oops. What a terrible accidental situation. I guess we'll have to wait until one of these damn* parties returns to the hall with heroes who have preferences to which quest they go out on... I'm more interested in the Decamon Tournament though, which leads me to wonder if it's something heroes even on quests can take part in or if it's for heroes in the hall only. The thing is, if you have to buy Decamon cards in booster packs like you suggested earlier (and like every card game that I'm aware of does), then heroes on quests wouldn't have the opportunity to participate anyway. I'll tell you, this last phase of #102 has been such an enjoyable read. I don't remember the last time I've been this interested in a quest that I haven't been on. I'm super interested to see how this entire arc comes to an end. Though yes, running that battle has to be a real pain in the megablocks. Quote

K-Nut Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) See, this is why the x10 health system is so much easier. I've been in the on-again-off-again process of reconstructing the Arena Rules to fit a new system. The WP-only system we came up with never seemed to work for me, especially with the effects like badly poisoned added in. 10x HP seems like it would work though. Lind Whisperer Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Hey, there's still a two other planets/moons we can migrate to if Olegaia goes up in flames. Maybe I should get started on Hero Space sooner than I thought... I seriously have to come up with a better name for that... Fair point. I bet good money the aoi already have starships. I'd vote against that, personally. It could work, but you run the risk of severally damaging the medieval vibe. It looses a good portion of the medieval flavor when someone has access to space-age technology. Sentient computers and androids are one thing, since you could theoretically make all of them with a highly creative system of gears and springs, but propelled vehicles capable of interstellar flight... I do think that a few cameo's by "men in strange armor" would be worth looking into, though. It could add a new layer of mythos, without displacing the old ones. Quote
Flipz Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I take it no one here has ever heard of Spelljammer, then. Endgame Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) DLL taught me about that one, although I wonder how well Spelljammeresque lore would match with the current aesthetic. Edited November 5, 2014 by Endgame Quote

My credentials are numerous, and include some little experience on the sea. Ooc: I would prefer to go on Quest #119, but I don't mind either way. That should help you with your predicament. Quote

On a somewhat unrelated note, I've always wondered what would happen if aliens tried to invade Olegaia, not that I consider a quest dealing with such an invasion likely, but it would be interesting. We've already got portals and planes in the canon, why futz about with gravity wells and transits when you can just go to another place? You do realize that the only ones of these planes that we've actually seen is one that's basically the cosmic equivalent of a rental storage warehouse, and the other one, well... we really didn't see much of it. And the only other two we've heard of are a reference to the Nether and an infinite sheet of paper. I think it's pretty obvious that we really need to get our cosmology straight before we start galavanting all over the solar system. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Actually, I had an idea for a quest which involved aliens trying to abduct the sheep of the Sheep Tribe, with the party protecting the livestock during the night, ala Majora's Mask, but couldn't find a way to do it, nor do I have a whole lot of aliens. If anyone's interested though, I'd love to co-host it and see the shock on Sandy's face when he reads the pitch. Quote

It will require some gold to buy cards during the Tournament, though, if you don't have some already. Actually, there are alien invaders in the game already. You just have to travel deep into the Fields of Glory to encounter them. My collection of aliens is probably even smaller than yours, but I could more than make up for it by making the scenes digitally in Blender. Edited November 6, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
