Palathadric Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 The Saffron Cup is now updated, but unfortunately I don't have time to update the others today. It took me 1,5 hours just to update that one... At least the amount of players gets halved with each round. Thanks, Sandy! -snip- Wait a moment. I'm confused now. I thought we weren't supposed to base the card we put down on the card the first person put down. Bobby looks around with a dreamy look in his eyes. He watches as all the heroes make goo-goo eyes at each other, his own eyes a little misty. "This is trippy, man," he declares to no one in particular before wandering over to the quest board and signing up for Quest #121. Quote
swils Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Welp, that went about as I'd expected based on the deck I got randomed. Kinda disappointing, but oh well. Should have shelled out the extra 25 gold for an Expert's Deck. Hindsight's 20/20 and all that, heh. I'm still in the market for a Dark 9 and Icy 9 if anyone happens to get one. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) A proposition for the next Decamon Tournament/future games: The person who is determined (by coin flip) to go first is put at a severe disadvantage, especially when they're opponent's hand/deck is unknown. Going first A) allows the opponent to scope your cards better and faster and B) you have to take the highest chance by going first three times instead of two. Responding with a card always offers more strategy while placing a card first is pretty much sheer luck or you betting that the opponent doesn't have a certain card. Maybe someone better with numbers than I could work out the exact odds, but going first puts you at around 2/5 chance to win if your opponent has a decently varied deck. It makes no difference who goes first in round 5 because both players only have 1 card left and no choice as to what card to play. They are basically both playing their final card at the same time. I think you are right that the first player is at a disadvantage since he/she will only have 4 cards to respond with next round instead of 5, but both players have to lead twice and both players get to respond twice. Zepher Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 What if instead of cards, the characters used weapons to fight each other? And instead of certain weapons trumping other weapons we had a third party roll a die to see if the character succeeds or fails? I dunno, just an idea. Quote

Chromeknight Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Another other option might be First card wins a tie. Teddy Ursa now stands a chance of capturing another card. No more drawn matches. Ethereal 10 card can now be legitimately captured. Quote

Endgame Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Or is it?! Well, consdiering the main villain is current level 130, yeah, probably. Quote

Endgame Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Round four of the truly really most certainly definitely absolutely final finale final grand finale of a final battle. Quote

That being said, my schedule is a little shaky from now until Christmas; there's a good possibility I'll have to leave the house all day for a day or two in a row on short notice, and while I should be able to sneak in a Decamon play or a Battle Order on mobile, Rounds are just too complex for a tiny screen and keyboard. I'll try and get word out early in the day if that happens, though, and possibly try and find someone to run the Rounds in my stead. Edited December 18, 2014 by Flipz Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 So dramatic entries count as desperate circumstances now? Newcomers these days. I remember when a hero's defining entrance came from tripping on the hall floor. Well, Warlen's entry was him not being able to open the door, then when he made an announcement to the hall nobody heard it... Quote
Flipz Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I don't remember Dyric's entrance, was it tripping on the floor? Or was that a reference to when Arthur came in tripping people with his staff? Quote
CMP Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I don't remember Dyric's entrance, was it tripping on the floor? Or was that a reference to when Arthur came in tripping people with his staff? It's a reference to Atramor, I think. I also referenced it during Miderun's entrance. Quote
Flipz Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Oh, right. Come to think of it, a lot of people must have been tripping when they joined Heroica (albeit in a different sense than that, but still ). Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) "Sorry bub, desperate circumstances call for desperate measures." I'm picturing Boris as Wolverine as a vampire. Seriously looking forward to how he plays out. Speaking of new characters, is there anything in the rules that would prevent a player who'd reached the appropriate quest count/level, from playing a secondary character that was retired by another player, if both players agreed to it? Edited December 18, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Flipz Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Secondary characters have to start at Level 1 with the basic item loadout; it's not possible to start a new character with anything beyond that. Quote

Or was that a reference to when Arthur came in tripping people with his staff? Yeah, like CMP said that was an Atramor shout-out. I believe Dyric's entrance went something along the lines of him jumping onto a table and yelling his tale of woe? We... don't talk about those days anymore. Quote

Vash the Stampede Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Just using the last bit of battery life to say that my place just had a bad storm and is in a blackout. Who knows power might be back tomorrow but if not I guess Dreyrugr will forfeit the Decamon tourney. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Is it just me or is there a decent chance an npc will be crowned Decamon Champion? Quote
Flipz Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) More than decent, I'd say. Not too thrilled that the winning players all seem to be getting pitted against each other now instead of in the championship matches/cup, either, but that's just how the tree goes, I suppose. Endgame Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I can't help but feel a little bit bad for taking all of a child's toys like that. Quote
