Duvors Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 So wish Vindsval and Calamity would have had some overlap in the hall. Not sure exactly what would have happened but it would have been dramatic. Well the Veterans would probably need to rebuild the entire hall, but it'd be worth it. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 OOC: Thanks for the amazing Quest, Sandy! If it truly turns out to be Arthur's last, I don't think I could have asked for a better way to go out. If it is (and I hope not, I like Arthur.) can I have some of your stuff? Seriously though. If #125 does end up being your last Quest, I'd just like to say thank you for everything you've taught me. Last year, when I first signed up for #103, I was a confused newbie. But thanks to the guidance you gave me then, I've learned how to play and interact to a level I'm not sure I would have reached without your influence. Best Wishes ~ Lind Quote

JimBee Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 In case anyone was interested, I did a quick tally of the active characters and their job class choices (woe is me who goes nowhere for spring break ). Only the first post of the Hall was scanned, so characters who've been active the last six months or so. For the Advanced Classes spread, a single character switching out of and back into a class was not counted (but each different AC choice from each character was counted). The results: Knight: 13 Rogue: 17 Ranger: 14 Cleric: 10 Mage: 13 Barbarian: 11 Assassin: 9 (6-3 Rogue) Battle Mage: 4 (3-1 Mage) Berserker: 3 (3-0 Barbarian) Black Knight: 4 (3-1 Rogue) Druid: 2 (1-1) Evoker: 4 (2-2) Hunter: 2 (2-0 Ranger) Mystic Knight: 5 (4-1 Mage) Paladin: 4 (2-2) Raider: 6 (4-2 Barbarian) Sage: 4 (3-1 Mage) Shaman: 4 (2-2) Sorcerer: 6 (5-1 Mage) Warden: 4 (4-0 Ranger) Witch: 3 (3-0 Rogue) So, with second characters and new players on the rise, if you want to be unique, be a Cleric who goes Witch or Druid. Or a Barbarian who goes Hunter, or a Knight who goes Warden or Berserker. I'm actually a little surprised that we have so few Druids (actually only one now that Ellaria has advanced to Alchemist), considering that it's the "best" healer of the ACs (I know Shaman and Sage have the potential heal more points, but they can't revive or remove negative effects). Also worthy to note is that there are 78 active characters according to the Hall, which is a lot more than I previously suspected. Some of those characters have since departed, and some players are no longer active. A quick count tells that 21 of those characters aren't really active right now, so that leaves 65 active characters. Take away the handful of second characters and you have about 57 active players. Among those, 12 are actively Quest Mastering (i.e. have hosted a quest in the last six months and have not fallen off the face of the earth coughEndgamecough). From there you make a lot of projections about how many quests will be hosted in a year and how many people get to go on them, etc. But the message is pretty clear: we only have a handful of QMs who do great work to keep this game running. Kudos to all of you for that. I'd encourage people to QM, but I know that I myself have been busy and away from my bricks, so much so that I don't think I could host a quality quest, at least not in all aspects. I wasn't really intending this post to turn into a lecture about how to keep things going in this game when I first started tallying numbers, but I do hope the last part sparks some discussions about what we could do to make sure we have a steady stream of quests and guaranteeing players spots on quests. I really like playing this game and would like to see it continue. I think the class choice tallies are interesting as well. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 (edited) I'm just a first-time QM, but I was thinking it would be an interesting thing if QMs worked together to host quest sagas that directly interlocked and crossed over with each other - like how each entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a unique, individual stand-alone story, but yet is simultaneously a distinct part of a bigger Universe. Umm, that's exactly what we are doing here. Or did you not notice how all the quests take place in the same world? Sure, crossovers could happen more frequently and more prominently, but every QM has their own branching storylines they want to tell, and finding a common ground is not easy. Read the Dastan and Baltarok Trilogies. Speaking of which, I would like to co-host a "Värtland Saga" at some point. I have a few plotlines that lead there (containing the Shaman King, Attina Bonaparte, the Nôrns and the Siege of Helvetia), but I am also very open to other ideas, so if anyone is interested in taking part in such a saga, give me a holler. CMP Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I've got an order of crazy nordic necromancers that my party now hates. I think a Vartland saga sounds really neat. Quote

Can't wait for this! I wouldn't mind taking part, but obviously I won't be much of a help in the "set building" category (considering that said area is what is holding me back from hosting my own quest). And I should probably host at least one small quest before trying to participate in a saga. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 And so the tale of Arthur the hero ends, with a slightly confusing ending that I had to look up quite a bit of backstory for. Now, can I have your stuff? :poke: Quote

I'd love to but I'm just like Pala here, I can't really contribute anything to the "Set Building" part. And plus, I want Heckz to go on the Siege of Helvetia (Please reserve me a spot ). The more quests you read, the better you can steal from other people. I've featured lots of other people's ideas in my quests: Cold Circles (Pie's), Order Imperial (Kinto's), Red Assassins (Brickdoctor's). Umm, that's exactly what we are doing here. Or did you not notice how all the quests take place in the same world? It's not easy, but we do it a lot still. I'd be interested in helping with Vartland. I want to do a Saga that's more than three quests at some point. I also have an idea for a "Eubric Saga" but haven't really formulated it totally yet. Quote
Myrddyn Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I'll be away from about the 4th to the 13th of April, and I may very well have no internet access I expect I'll actually have internet most of the time, but if anyone in Quest #129 wants to give actions for Erik if I'm holding things up that would be appreciated. Ooooh, I'd obviously be down for that . I'd love to expand upon Värtland. I have like a ton of background stuff that I want to pour into quest, but I just never seem to get it done . Planning and making time to QM is really the hardest part for me, sadly. Set building would be okay, I think. I have amassed lots of brown bricks and suitable Viking torsos in anticipation of my own hypothetical "Värtland" Quest . So yes, I'd totally be down for Värtland quests . Did you ever mention this "Shaman King" before or are we just hearing about him? It sounds interesting. Yeah, he's been mentioned, but not a lot. One of the Nôrn spoke of him once. He's the guy that drove them away from their homeland. I think I also mentioned him or alluded to him in my Polkung quest, but I'm not sure anymore . EDIT: If anyone wants to hear some of the general background stuff I've got for Värtland (some stuff me and Scorpiox made as background for our PC's), I'm always willing to share with possible future QM's. It's not that any of my stuff is written in stone and you can still pretty much do with the continent as you'd like in a way, but you know, I can share in case of interest .
