Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 It's still coming. It won't be a singular event like CAT, though, but something that will affect the game for the rest of its course. Will players that are on quests still be able to participate? *crosses fingers* Sounds good! I'll be sure to be as reckless as possible! Be careful with that. This is a pretty big event, that Heroica's been building up to for four years. Even Lind, Mr. Loves-to-talk himself, will probably be pretty quiet, since everyone else has had a lot more experience with the Shadeaux than he has. Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 True, but to Arthur's mind this would be like Karie taking her and Masson's baby on missions with her. The only reason he approached Guffington about this Quest was because of the chance to take Miirym to Dastan to learn about her heritage, and to Xu to revisit the nation they helped. Now, once he hits Level 40 and Miirym ages up, it'll be a different story (I am trying to roleplay Miirym as being very close to her new size category as she's growing naturally), but obviously Arthur doesn't know when Miirym will manifest her elemental ability and thus be considered a youngling instead of a hatchling (and even then he'll still be protective). Fair enough. It's nice to see dragoons not treat their dragons like tools. I've always wanted Arthur (or any dragoon really) to go on a Dragon quest, because I think it'd be neat to have a young dragon meet an old, from the dawn of time dragon, but I understand that the timing wouldn't really work. ;tongue: Still gotta figure out how Masson took care of Rachellebeing crippled and all. Dragonfire Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 When the Fourth Anniversary got frontpaged, it said that Ulric had become "King of Eubric". Did that happen on one of the quests or what? And I'm looking forward to the Clash of Houses - hopefully it will be another Heroica-Mafia crossbreed like CAT Quote

Yeah, I'd love to, but unless you're planning to delay it until post-139 it's just not going to happen. Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Maybe they're talking about Guts? I don't know. I'll just say that there is a reason I timed Immortalis showing up now to when things are about to get real in Eubric. Y'all need Jesus Immortalis. Yeah, I'd love to, but unless you're planning to delay it until post-139 it's just not going to happen. I might, because the Immortalis quest is the last story I want to tell, and I want to tell it right. However, then there is the issue of Zepher's finale happening at the same time. I suppose I could be reckless when it's necessary rather than all the time. I should be very observant for sure. Quote

Dragonfire Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Not yet at least. I don't know why it would say that. He's definitely working on it, though. To quote Dragonator, from the frontpage. "During the past four years, the city of Eubric Freeport has been in turmoil as seven powerful factions struggled to gain the upper hand. In the midst of it all, Heroica, a fabled organisation of would be heroes and heroines, has risen to new-found glory as its members have eliminated fearsome monsters, reconciled wars, uncovered conspiracies and saved the whole world at least half a dozen times. But while Heroica has been busy saving the day, the founder of the notorious Wolfgang, Ulric Wolfkin, has gained the support of the common folk to become the first King of Eubric. The other six houses scramble to make alliances of their own, dividing the city and its residents further. Like the rest of Eubric, heroes and heroines of Heroica have to choose their side in determining the future of the city. What side will you choose?" Edited August 16, 2015 by Dragonfire Quote

Everyone can be cheering for a rebel leader to rise...but that doesn't mean he has the power to do so, or that he is officially king, it just means that he has the favor of the people. Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I'm not sure how to feel if Ulric becomes king, to be honest. I feel like there are too many people in Eubric actively working against him for him to do it. Quote

I doubt he'll become king, but on the off chance he does, Althior gets a sweet title and some nobility. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 The common folk support him for king. But he has to rise, to become king, is the point. He just has the will of the people at the moment. Which is important. But the Shadeaux, Zeigfrieds, Bonapartes, and the rest all have guards, weapons, and money, e.g., they have the power. It'll be interesting to see the power struggle play out, and what Sandy will do to balance out the disparities in allegiance among the players... Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 And will it be a trio of Houses that emerge as the top houses? Or will the fight be for the top House? And if so, how does it affect heroes highly affiliated with multiple houses, like Arthur? Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Yeah, and Sorrow will break Althior's kneecaps backwards with that staff you loaned him. Awwwwwwwwwww thanks. Assuming Ulric honors his promises... I don't see any reason he wouldn't. Ulric isn't just a mobster: he's trying to gain the peoples trust. To do that, he has to keep his promises. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I'm sure they'll all be answered soon enough. Quote
Flipz Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You know, speaking of CAT, the system wasn't all bad...if I were to run it now, I'd just make a few changes: 1. Actions are not based on time zones; instead, they happen in a randomized order. (Alternatively, a dying character's action still goes through unless they're actively being blocked.) 2. Phoenix Essences are out; instead, there's a limited number of Fenghuang Essences, which the Alchemist cannot create with Mixture. 3. All weapons are elemental; while this does not affect the pictures, it does affect the damage output thanks to the immunity Artifacts and the addition of Weather Mage. 4. The Scum get permanent conversion abilities, rather than just a single one-use item; ideally, this would work like the Ragnarok 1 conversions (first use converts to Neutral, second use converts to Scum). 5. All characters have a number of personal goals that, when accomplished, grant a full level of experience; this would make the leveling more prominent (IIRC the only two characters in CAT with a chance to level up and change classes were both Scum) as well as encouraging shady, selfish behavior from the characters (making it less desirable to gang up as a Town and completely lock down all actions). 6. Full nighttime anonymity. 'Nuff said. (That said, the "ranged=anonymous" in the daytime was a great mechanic and should stay. ) Quote
