swils Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Well, the crow I'd assassinated was the same that I'd targeted, I guess I missed the fact that D, G, and Hen all were KO'ed and that's why they didn't get assassination rolls. Quote
Palathadric Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 This has got be one of the fastest (successful) battles in the history of Heroica, if not THE fastest... You should read some of the old quests. Battles lasting one round was not at all uncommon. The boss battle in Quests #20, if I'm correct, was finished in just one round. ...Good days! Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I need to find a practical use for Guts. Right now he deals damage, and that´s it, basically. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 You should read some of the old quests. Battles lasting one round was not at all uncommon. I spent all of Quest 4 (and if you know Quest 4, you know that when I say "all" I'm talking about a lot of time) trying to set up battles that would last for more that a couple rounds. Quote
CMP Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I need to find a practical use for Guts. Right now he deals damage, and that´s it, basically. I would get a better weapon. Lifestealer can't be used in expert classes anyway, and a weapon that deals an effect or two could be destructive with all your Ravages. Quote

I see what you are doing, trying to get you to be the only one with a lifestealing weapon... I´m thinking of going Alchemist, they can use daggers. I am kind of hoping some cool QM does what WBD did in his first quest, the enhance your weapon with stuff! Quote

Ratsbane (once the Sapper) has the same problem, it's only suitable for rogues, so unless Jeb (or in your case, Rumble Strike) changes it, it doesn't count as a dagger. And I agree so much, I want to be able to upgrade my weapons beyond more WP and gems. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I thought it was decided a while back that weapons are just basic categories and all similair usages except for the Zoot weapons? Quote
CMP Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I thought it was decided a while back that weapons are just basic categories and all similair usages except for the Zoot weapons? Right. Since Sapper and Lifestealer aren't suitable for mages either, they're not classed as daggers, unless the QM who created it decides to change it. I don't see any reason not to, it's been done before, I think, and even artifacts in the marketplace can change to suit new classes. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Yeah, I don´t think there´s any reason why both weapons should not be daggers. Quote

I think Jeb's volcano is still the most fearsome creation to date. Or was there something more insane? I'm sure swils would have thought of a way to milk it for all it was worth... I'm glad they didn't have to fight it. Quote
swils Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Volcano, eh? I don't recall anything about a volcano.. is my memory going bad? Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Worst fight in Heroica I've been in? The fight in the hall as Luc, either Crusader Impostor throwing shurikens, or the good old fashioned table flipping. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Well Lifestealer was specifically given to Guts, but in terms of mechanics, as it's a dagger, then any class who wields a dagger could use it, I guess. Quote
JimBee Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Alternatively, you could go Assassin and have a shot at Assassinating up to four enemies per turn. It's all in where you want to go: Witch can self-heal, and is great if you want to inflict a lot of Effects (Witch works well with Scrolls and weapons that deal effects), but that's going to come at something of a cost as you buy artifacts and items you'll need. On the other hand, Assassin wouldn't really need much investment (since you'd obviously not care too much about using a bow since your scissors have that useful dual-strike effect), but it comes at the cost of less assured damage and a SHIELD that does no direct damage at all. As yet another alternative, you could even stick with Rogue past Level 15 and build your strategy around super-powerful Mugs, coupled with the Nostrum-Mead strategy; it's all in how you want to play your cards. Also, nice touch, WBD--those two cadets don't have uniforms because Arthur stole them. I think it was decided for Hybros that weapons that hit multiple enemies on a hit or crit only give the assassination chance on the main target, I'm assuming it'd would work the same for dual weapons, so that's why I did not say assassin. Oh, that's right. But the weapons that hit all enemies still have the Assassination chance on all (at least, that's how Sandy seems to have been running it in Q50 ). Yeah, the Bladerang (and Cat o'Nine Tails) deal effects and have the potential to assassinate all enemies if the roll is successful. I had thought that dual-strike weapons acted differently, but now that I think about it they really don't. Should effects/assassinations count for two targets with those, provided the hits are distributed to two enemies? Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I think Quest 42 has got to be the most paranoid and stingy party of all time. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Zepher, one last thing... The Masters' third special, does that steal the 20 health from us or the Masters' party? Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 You guys... sorry, I really didn't expect you to split up into three parties, so... this is your punishment... battles that were balanced for about half the party... maybe this will make you guys think more carefully when presented with too many chooses later on... Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 You didn't answer my question. If you tell us there are 20 spires, we'll probably split up and each take one. That'll work, right? Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I did, I just accidentally hid it and made it seem like it was opening the post. You guys As in, the health will be subtracted from you guys. Again, good luck! Quote
Flipz Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 *cough* Ella *cough cough* This won't be an easy fight, but if we play strategically we'll be alright. Speaking of which, Skrall IS favoring both types these enemies have, correct? I'd like a confirmation just to make sure my calculations are running correctly. Quote
CMP Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) I think Alexis would be best throwing on that Lens. With four actions a turn, she could put half the enemy party to sleep while Cronk and the others hack up those who aren't. Wouldn't even be able to wake them with any AoE attacks due to the Magician's Passive. Edited January 6, 2013 by CallMePie Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 He is not favoring both types. They are weak against the same elements, but are technically different types of monsters. Quote
