Endgame, I have to say, the Apprentice is quickly becoming one of my favorite Heroica villains. Personally, the two main villains types I love are the great, brilliant characters like Thrawn in SW that one can't help but root for to some extent, antagonist or no. The other type are the villains that are just dripping with evil - a personal example would be Magneto, especially in X-Men: First Class - and the Apprentice definitely falls into the latter category for me. I'm personally hoping he comes back, and if not him at least the Harvester. It's such a malevolently beautiful weapon, it would be a shame to go to waste.

If there's one thing Endgame does better than pretty much everyone else, it's creating memorable villains.

Easily fixable!

Passive Specials:

Cornered Prey is Deadly Prey: So-and-so loves the thrill of the hunt. When favored, his level increases by 8 and his SP triples.

Or

Passive Specials:

Most Dangerous Game: So-and-so loves the thrill of the hunt. When favored, he favors the favoring Hunter, dealing triple damage on rolls of Damage, Special Damage, and free hits...

While I like Pie's version better (it doesn't punish the whole party for simply having a Hunter as a member, something they have no control over), I'm not a huge fan of either one. Yes, we all joke about making enemies designed to take out Wardens, but the truth of the matter is that punishing a player for choosing a particular class makes me a little uneasy. Class perks should be countered, not punished. Again, Endgame is really good at that sort of thing, as we've seen repeatedly in 48.

Thank you very much, Legonater! :sweet: The Apprentice has turned out to be far better then I was expecting! I build most of my antagonists around some sort of human trait or emotion: Rhodus was insanity, Aquos grief, and The Apprentice a mixture of arrogance and just being plain creepy. For having a mere 15 pages of time in the spotlight, I've felt I've fleshed him out far greater I ever expected.

Unfortunately, the chances of him making it out of this one are incredibly slim, but the Harvester is going to definitely appear in more quests.

Personal Philosophy: A plot, in most cases, can only be as good as the villain who drives it. I always work backwards, develop the villains first then build the plot from there.

When I devised a story for my quest (that was halted), I also worked on enemies first. I tried to come up with reason for why they would be seen as an enemy. What drives them to do "evil"? Then I worked from there to get to a plot. I have to admit, though, at first my enemies weren't really all that deep and satisfying like yours are now. In some way I'm glad the quest was halted, since I got to work on them some more and flesh them out, making them a bit more real. I hope that one day I'll be able to host again and then truly reveal my enemy characters, because in my previous quest, the characters had only just reached the first of the enemies when I halted the quest. They didn't even get to talk or fight.

Because of Me!

Because the time and strength my fellow heroes and I have put together to take him down. :innocent:

I don't see why we couldn't knock him out instead of killing him. Personally, I'd rather do that since he may be able to provide us with more information on his master, the Stealer of Senses.

OOC: Can I attack this turn? The rules don't say anything about whether I can or not.

I did a search on the hexed effect and in the one and only occurrence I could find where a hero was hexed while fighting enemy NPCs, congrats on being number 2, the hero could act after the remedy was applied. Quest #22

Yes, personally, I can see Karie wanting to see this guy hang. She may be a rogue, but she's not a criminal.

And yeah for being the second person to be hexed! I feel so special!

And also violated.

Hmm.

EDIT: Also, 100th post! Yay.

Like I said, second one hexed while fighting enemy NPCs. I was able to find 1 hero that had been hexed in PvP, and 1 hero hexed while that hero appeared to be an enemy NPC, but that battle looked a little complicated so I didn't get too deep into it. There may have been a couple more, but I was skipping through it pretty fast since Haldor's Paper Doll generated 20 pages of search results.

I'm afraid not, Ms. Harley Quinn. :poke::tongue:

Just placed it a few hours ago, honestly. Should've clicked earlier, especially because you use Harley's face.

And a villain is only as good as the length of his description and his amount of passive specials, right? :poke:

Hey, you know I Iike those.

By the way, folks, we should be at Eidolon's doorstep by the weekend, assuming how quickly you put down The Suffering. And now, to run a round!

Palathadric- LOL right?

Also, anyone need more quests? Or are any current ones ending real soon? I have an idea I guess I'll present this weekend.

Well, I know some bored heroes in the Hall drinking tea...

Huh, I just figured out that with monsters with HPs as copious as 800 (100+) Cursing is really utterly useless. Although, if The Suffering had 100 HP, I've figured out a way to kill him unarguably without even invoking a single attack. Logically, It would take damn near 66 rounds, and all my potential ether, but...

Addendum: Unless I had an artifact that could "Slow," in which case, 200 HP.

Addendum 2: And all shots are off if I had access to a minimizing effect. Elgar, you need a minimizing item.
