Mizuki goes to Erik and says "Do you want to spar ?"

I, Mizuki Kimura (zakura), would like to challenge Erik Tyrvarr (Myrddyn), to a duel!

"I think I'll have to say no this time. I believe Arimees is a bit busy at the moment, and there are a few heroes in line to duel already."

"No, not really." He gave his friend a bloody grin. "Alexis? No, she's worried about enough these days. If I'm not dying, it can wait." Althior limped down the street for a few minutes before speaking again, "Sometimes I think the world would be better without me. Or without Heroica. We risk our lives every day for what? It seems every time Heroica gets involved, people die. I've been the one to kill people some of the time, and it's haunted me. I killed maybe 10 elves when I was at the fort, I killed men when we were at Ziegfried mansion, Hinckwell villa, and Ji Pei palace. I have enough blood on my hands, and Heroica itself has more. We're no longer heroes, Haldor, we're vigilantes. I don't want to grow old and have robbed so many people of that chance..."

"Don't think like, that it doesn't help. The moment we start counting the bodies is the moment we fall, there is no place for guilt. Do you think that I enjoy killing these people? No, but they have to be killed nonetheless. Up in Haddon we got ourselves on the wrong side, and people died, but in the end we realised the truth and did what was right. Those people had to die, to protect Haddon from a future it didn't want. Some people have to die, for the greater good. We don't want to kill them, but we have no choice. If they stand between us and our goal, Althior, then it is them who are killing themselves. What makes us different from the vigilantes is not that we have the best equipment or the best men, but that we care. The fact that we have those deaths weighing on our consience is what sets us apart. Think of that Althior, and you will grow old knowing that you did the right thing by walking through those doors."

Haldor helped his friend to continue aimlessly down the road, not thinking of where it was that they were going. As they passed to doors of the hall once again, Haldor was greeted by the merry shout of his comrade, Dyric.

After thumbing a piece of paper in my hands for a while, and admiring my new Pheonix Essence, I go to my old friend Haldor.

Haldor, old friend! I seem to have gotten some sort of letter from you. Something about 33 gold pieces?

"Yes, friend. I am in need of gold, for some more gear that will help me. If you were to lend me that gold now, I would pay you back when I next get some more. Thank you Dyric." Haldor accepted the gold from Dyric, with uttered thanks, and rushed back to walk with Althior, who was wheezing his way down the street. Once he had caught up (which didn't take long at all), the Nord approached him with more quieries. "Althior, you never told me, who did all this to you? You are in a bad way, let me help."

"Nobody has to die, Haldor. They all have a right to live, Haldor. You can't say they have to die. All of these people must have family and friends, so how many people has Heroica hurt? ANd what happens to the heroes who "help" those people? This." He gestured towards himself, "If we already have deaths weighing on our conscience, by the time we're done here, how many deaths will be on our conscience? Those men may kill one man, and we kill hundreds. Even if we are bothered by those killings, those men are still dead. Now tell me how we're set apart from them and how we're better than them, and I'll walk back through those doors with you. But if you can't, I have two boat tickets for me and Finnegan to get the hell out of here,"

"Althior, you never told me, who did all this to you? You are in a bad way, let me help."

"I-I don't know." He couldn't help but think of the last thing he heard before he blacked out. He still had a part to play in their game, but what was it?

"Alexis, I'm sorry I didn't see you come up in my excitement."Her smile fades as Alexis and Boomingham speak. She waits for the right time, or what feels like the right time to say something to Alexis.

"You are having trouble with your man? That's just...horrible. Are you certain he is up to no good, I mean, it's not a misunderstanding or something? Last time I saw you...you guys seemed so happy. I've been gone so long, so much has changed here. Is there anything I can do for you?"

"I don't know at this point Cinna. It all happened so fast, I don't want to go back now. That's a good looking medal you got there, any idea what it does?"

"I-I don't know." He couldn't help but think of the last thing he heard before he blacked out. He still had a part to play in their game, but what was it?

Haldor stood quietly, thinking to himself of what Althior had said. But when he spoke next, it came from within.

"Those people we speak of, yes they had a right to live. But when they walked in front of us with their weapons drawn, they have to die. Yes, they have families and friends, but they forfeit that by joining the Wolfgang, or fighting with the rebels. When you sit here with your self-pity, you don't think for a moment how many people they have hurt, that they have killed. They are not hardworking, good citizens that we hurt, these are bad men, if they weren't, they wouldn't be fighting with us. In Haddon there was a man, a thing, called Vonnetate. He was leading the armies of the rebels to take the town from the loyal and fair rulers, and set up a state of fear and greed. We stopped him, and I, nor any of my friends, lost any sleep over that. Why would I feel guilty for that, or for slaying a murderous fiend like Bluehood? Never in my life, nor I ever will, stride cheerfully down through the streets cutting down all innocents in my sight. So don't feel guilt for killing those men that do. When we went down to Haddon, we had a job to do, but it took us much time to discover that we were on the wrong side. I felt bad for that, yes I felt guilty for that, but in the end we knew the truth, and we did the right thing. The rebels that we killed in the end, they were the ones charging in with bloodthirsty cries, we only ended their misery. What would you have me do, Althior, stand there to be cut to pieces, so my death weighs on his mind, not his on mine? What world does that create? So yes, some people have to die, it is the only way to maintain peace."

Haldor looked away briefly, but he knew what he was saying was true, there were times and places where killing a man was the right thing to do, and these places occured more than regularly. "If I look to myself, at how many men I have slain, I look to how many people I haved saved by slaying those people. We are better than those we kill, because we kill not because we want to or because we enjoy it. But because we have to, because sometimes, lots of times, it is the right thing to do. So, Althior, you go, if that is what you want. Go and live your live, forget me and all we have been through, or you can stay here. You can make a difference, you can die knowing that yes, you may have put to death more than you can count, but that the world is a far greater place for the weak and poor because of it. Or of course you can leave, leave it all behind, all your friends, allies, Alexis. And die alone, tormented by the things that you could have done, and how many more good men, perished because you were too scared of yourself. Your choice, Althior, make sure it is the right one. I'm not going to stop you..."

And as the Nord finished his monologue, his friend passed out from weakness and his wounds. Althior lay on the cobblestones, by himself, as though abandoned. Haldor tore himself a loaf of bread from his pack, and leant on a nearby cart. Soon, ALthior would wake up, and Haldor would ask him what choice he had made. "If this is the last time we ever meet, so long my friend, but I confess, I thought you were more than this."

"Too afraid of myself, Haldor? You don't know fear like I do. I watched my family murdered before me, not knowing if they would live or die. I've suffered almost a year now with this infection, not knowing if it would end my life, every day. When I had loved ones here, not knowing if anything would happen to them in this crime filled city. Do not speak to me about fear, Haldor. Nobody would miss me. Heroica can replace me. Alexis can-" He stopped, "She can replace me. With someone good for her this time. She's shown me she doesn't need me." He sat against the stone wall. He looked at his friend. "Do you want to know what happened last night?"

She turns to Tesni. "Would you like to go on the Unlimited quest with me and one other? We could leave before the new Wren quest goes out."

"Sounds like a good idea, to test out my new weapons before a major quest."

Tesni went and signed up for Fields of Glory on the condiion she would return for the ques in Haddon.

"Well I hope it's all just a mistake and you can be happy once more. This is the Anniversary Medal from the lottery, accorning to the information about it, it makes the wearer stronger, tougher, and able to cast more magic. I can already feel the strength, but as far as toughness and magic, I'll have to wait for the next battle to find out. "

Finishing her ale, she stands up.

"I must be off now. I am way behind I training and need to buy some supplies in case I'm chosen to help find that missing child. I'm glad I found you both in here and hope we meet again soon."

Cinna heads out of the hall and toward the training room. The time has come to face her fears and The Copper Fox.

The Nord felt quite shocked, and also very hurt, like he had been partly betrayed."Don't assume, Althior, don't assume that you are the only one who knows fear. You know not what I've been through. I have experianced more fear than my fair share, but you forget, this isn't about me, it's about you. This infection that you spoke of, I never knew, you never thought to tell me. If you do not share your problems with friends, then they can't help, and it offends me that you thought my help not worth bothering with. All the same, I assure you it will take a very long time to just forget all that you've been while you were here. Yes, there will be more heroes, but there will be no more Althior. Alexis may move on, but it will haunt her. She may seem like she won't miss you, but she will. Oh, Gods she will. You may have fought, but we've all fought, do you remember how this happened to me recently? But we got through, and so can you. Well, unless you want to leave like this, but hey ho, every man for himself. Alexis will miss you, I know she will, whatever happened last night, you had a great bond between you, it would be a shame for you to just let it go. You've been a great friend to me, through thick and thin, Emorith the Sage, but when you are old and weak, make sure that you can live with yourself after you left us all." Haldor sighed and sunk down. "But of course, there is still time for you to stay."

After waiting a few moment, I follow behind Haldor. Since entering the Hall, I had made few attempts to acquaint with the others. It was becoming increasingly clear, though, that this would not be a short exile. Work had to be done in Eubric... the ruling families had to be calmed, the crime sorted out... I would not be leaving any time soon. It wouldn't hurt to settle in. Suddenly, like a blow to the gut, the memories of everyone I had lost came rushing back. Again. For the long months since then, I had feared the same thing would happen to any others I would come to meet.

Yet it had been nearly a year I was in Eubric. People like Skrall and Haldor where still alive and well. I was beyond the sphere of influence of King Somirol. Every day I continued to live in quiet fear of the man was another day he had the victory. No, it was time to stop running. To stop living in fear.

I continued forward to the group, smiling earnestly.

Boomingham grinned. "I thought it might intrigue you. Haldor had quite a love affair with them, and while you know I'm still trying to fully grasp the geography from your region... well, anywho, figured they might interest you too. Ran into them on the street... though you'll be hard-pressed to find those particular two again... may have slain them or what not."

Eric's eyes widened as Lawrence confessed slaying the Vampires. Angrily he jumped up and shook his head, the Nord slammed his hands on the table. "Blasphemy! Why would you slay a Vampire? Those blessed with eternal life, waging an endless war. The epitome of the free predator, true children of our mother Helvetia!"

The pale raider gnashed his teeth. He was appalled by Lord Boomingham's course of action and his subsequent boasting, but he was a true friend and ally. Eric knew the man didn't know any better. It took some time before he regained his calm posture, but eventually Eric sat back down. He spoke little afterwards, he didn't really know what to say to Lawrence. Instead he turned to the young mage as she spoke.

"Vampires, here? I've only heard legends as a child. I thought it was just to keep us inside at night though. What did you use to kill them, sir?"

Eric chuckled. "Fools! Why would you stay inside? An encounter with a true Vampire is a unique experience that should be treasured. You should consider it an honour when one chooses to fight you. It is a true test of strength and capability. You fail and you die, turned into a grizzly trophy of the Hunt. Death at the hands of a Vampire is the greatest of sacrifices one can achieve. If you are lucky and if you fought bravely, you may be spared and be granted an eternal life of struggle and feast yourself. There's is nothing to be feared except your own cowardice."

I enter in on the conversation, when one of the ladies had mentioned Vampires in Eubric.

"I am astonished to hear your surprise concerning the Vampires roaming Eubric," I say coolly as I slide up towards the table. They are here, I tell you so. There is even one of them among us somewhere, but I think I managed to chase him away somewhat. Thanks be to God!

The Nord rolled his eyes at the monk's remark. The ignorance in the South was stiffling. Eric needed to get out. Before he left, though, he went to check the Questboard. To his surprise, a plethora of Quests were posted there. He read through all of them, then decided to put up his name for #40: The Strivvian Job and #43: Protect my Brother. After some doubting, Eric decided to write down his name for #42: The Meaning of it All, as well. He then left the Hall and went down to the Market.

Jess walked into the Hall with her new purchases in her pack. She spotted Alexis, who seemed to be looking for someone to round out her and Tesni's group...

"I'll definitely check into that after I talk to Haldor..."

It didn't take long for Jess to track down Haldor.

"Hey, Haldor. I overheard that Alexis and Tesni need one more to round out their group to the Fields of Glory... I want to go. I think I heard Tesni say that she wanted to be back in time for Haddon and Wren, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I'm going to go ask Alexis if I can go with them."

Jess then simply walked away to Alexis.

"Hello, Alexis. I heard that you and Tesni need one more person for your team to the Fields of Glory... Would you two mind if I was that person? I just upgraded Blohdhurm, and I'm dying to try it out!"

"I'd love to have you come with us Jess, I haven't been questing with you yet. It should be quite an adventure."

"How was your latest quest?"

"It was certainly... Interesting. It created mine and Haldor's first fight as a couple... I'd prefer to forget about it to be honest."

"Yes... I found that Haldor isn't quite as perfect as I originally thought. But it's water under the bridge for now; we worked it out. Our relationship will survive. Speaking of relationships... I haven't seen Althior in a bit. Where'd he go off to?"

Alexander Vandangant had come to the Heroica Hall to see the draw of the First Anniversary Lottery and wenn Miss Valentine extract the slip of paper with his name he was very happy. He received an Amethyst, a cristal that at the beginning for Alexander was useless, but before selling it he tried to find out more about it.

A man answered to his questions saying: "The Amethyst is one of the most sought gem, usefull against humanoids and holy monster, you can imbou it in your bow to improve it bau it cost 50 gold. If you don't wait in the Marketplace you could sell it for a good price."

Alexander was thinking that would be useful in his bow when a man, named En Sabah Nur, offers 200 gold for the Amethyst. He ask to the man what "nice things" he can buy in the Marketplace.

Finnegan laughs from across the room. "A bit?" He started laughing hard. "Just like he's totally dumb enough to take you, his girlfriend, out to dinner with the women he's cheating with!" This was too good. Being able to make fun of the elf and not be called out for doing so, what more could he ask for? You know, besides a she-aura...
