Heroica RPG - Heroica Hall

Althior walked back in the hall, tired and dragging his feet. He saw an apparent lack of Alexis, which was good. No awkwardness whatsoever, where's the bad in that? No Gibbin or Arthur or Haldor, nobody. Just a few wandering heroes and those he returned from the fields with. For once the hall seemed peaceful. Much more peaceful than it had ever been in the past year. More than anything it had been. It had already been a year since he stepped onto the infamous lands of Bric' Bay. He had forgotten all about that journey. It was the first time he felt real power. He had destroyed much of the final waves troops, and killed two of those three leaders. He was not proud of his past, any of it. As these thoughts continued to go through his mind, Althior grabbed a glass of red wine from the bar and sat by some heroes speaking of another way into the fields. He took a swig of the wine before sitting down. "If you guys are going to the fields, I want in. As Docken and I saw, you'll need at least one pretty good healer if you want to make it out with all of your limbs."

Brandishing his new toy, Thormanil joins Docken and Benji at their table.

"Gut feelin' eh? It's a good thing you've got all that armor, Docken. Can't risk damaging a valuable set of precognitive innards! Heh heh. Now, what's this about a trip to the fields? I'd been planning to go with Arthur but this whole Wren nonsense has got him talkin' crazy. I don't see what the big deal with this gal is but hey, each to their own! Me, I'd love a chance to crack a few more heads. Whaddya say, Benji, take me along with ya?"

[Brickdoctor]

"Me, I despise Lady Wren. She forced our party to solve anagrams!"

"Ana-whatnows? Sounds awful!"

"She didn't seem particularly evil or powerful. But as I recall, she seemed to toy with her enemies, and my encounter with her was quite a while ago, when I was just a low-Level Ranger and she was just beginning to harvest the 'Chaos'.

"I haven't fought her since. Between my journeys to Salmanda and the Great Guffington's dreams, with a quest here in Eubric and my previous run through the Fields, I haven't been on another quest involving Lady Wren.

"Speaking of the Fields, it would be good to have you on this team. I know we could've used more heavy hitters during my last battles there. Healers can heal only so many times, Lucky Rogues can keep only so many enemies occupied, and this shield can stop only so many hits. This Scroll and Gold should help, though."

"Hittin' hard, now yer speaking my language! Rituals and magic are plenty of fun, but I've been itchin' to give this whole raiding thing a go. And this sword's sure to knock the senses outta anything that tries to take me, hah!"

[K-Nut]

"Me, I despise Lady Wren. She forced our party to solve anagrams!"

"Please, when we were at Bric'Bay, we were forced to create siege engines to fight back elves. You know nothing about torture..."

"What exactly did you do again?"

"Absolutely nothing!"

[Brickdoctor]

"Ah, Master Finnegan, good to see you again. I haven't seen you that much, despite the fact that I've been questing with Master Emorith.

"Please, when we were at Bric'Bay, we were forced to create siege engines to fight back elves. You know nothing about torture..."

"Odd. From what I read in the Library of that quest, that party was quite successful at quickly thinking of different ways to repel their enemies. And I also heard that Master Emorith obtained a ridiculously powerful elven horse that allowed him to slay legions."

[K-Nut]

"Ah, Master Finnegan, good to see you again. I haven't seen you that much, despite the fact that I've been questing with Master Emorith.

"Well, after the whole limbo of Eubric, it was hard to find my text color again."

"Odd. From what I read in the Library of that quest, that party was quite successful at quickly thinking of different ways to repel their enemies. And I also heard that Master Emorith obtained a ridiculously powerful elven horse that allowed him to slay legions."

"Yeah, and that's the last quest he actually succeeded in..."

"Why'd that horse have to get nerfed..."

[Brickdoctor]

"Yeah, and that's the last quest he actually succeeded in..."

"Well, hopefully once this next run through the Fields is complete and with you being more active, he'll be strong enough to avoid that."

I pause for a moment to hang a sign near the quest board, reading:

"Anyone want to duel in the Arena?"

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot Benji at a nearby table.

"Ah, Master Carvenhall. I hear you're putting together a party to head to the Fields of Glory, and I'm interested in being a part of it. Oh, and I have these for you:"

I give Benji my Quiver of Poisoning and Mockthril Longbow for his Cobweb Cowl.

Benji hands over the Cobweb Cowl ^{(Grants immunity to sudden death; backwear)}

"Thank you very much, friend. Yes, I think that we could make a good party to the fields together."

Althior grabbed a glass of red wine from the bar and sat by some heroes speaking of another way into the fields. He took a swig of the wine before sitting down. "Welcome to the group, mate."

Brandishing his new toy, Thormanil joins Docken and Benji at their table.

"......Whaddya say, Benji, take me along with ya?"

Benji makes a sign of respect as the giant comes by. "You would be more than welcome to join my party. It looks like we will have a good party."

"Yes. A party of me, Bart, Althior, Thormanil will be excellent, and I think that Xander will be interested to join too. Great! It looks like we have a fantastic party." *disco music*

Benji remembers seeing that Docken had some items for sale, and he turns towards Docken, "Oh, and Bart, I'll take that mead off your hands."

The Fields had proven to be a suitable place for Xander to hone his skills, though he did not accomplish what he had set out to do. Emerging from the inky shadows, he joins the group of heroes at the table in conversation:

"Yes, Benji and I spoke earlier. I would be honored to return to the fields again; there is talk of mythical creatures there, and I wish to witness these with my own eyes. If you'll excuse me, I have matters to attend to at the Marketplace...."

Xander excuses himself with a slight bow; he heads to the Marketplace, but not before making a slight detour to post a note to the message board:

Ignoring Benji's tendency to call me 'Bart', and realizing that it's better than 'Barty-Bart', I hand him my Mead for 10 Gold.

"Indeed. Are you still interested in this Soma, by the way?"

I give Althior my Grand Tonic for 20 Gold.

With all the sales going on, Drake begins to wonder if the hall had suddenly transformed into the marketplace.

"I wonder what might be happening today..." said Drake as he picked up the newspaper.

I wonder if Dak got stuck inside somebody else's body...

No, I'm not stuck inside somebody else's body, I was only temporarily... erm... erased, let's call it.

You again? Sigh.

I think that is no way to greet somebody. Oh, yeah, forgot to say hello. Hello!

Well, hi. And now, where is the door so I can gladly show you to it?

Okay, so we're not okay with each other. If you hate me so much, why don't you just tell me to leave?

Because I don't know where the door is- wait, you can do that?

...Yeah. I thought you knew. Ah well, want me to do it, I will.

Well come on! Get out!

Okay, okay, jeez. I'm coming out...

Just then something that looked like a ghost appeared. It had no legs, was floating, was pale blue, had spiky hair and had glowing red eyes. In fact, he looked pretty young, if you ask me. Then he said

"Hey, now on, I'm your partner. There will also be one single rule: Get used to this, or I'm going back. Okay?"

"...Okay."

After that, Drake was left speechless as he started drinking to see if this was all true.

[K-Nut]

"Indeed. Are you still interested in this Soma, by the way?"

I give Althior my Grand Tonic for 20 Gold.

Althior accepts the Grand Tonic. "Nah, I should save some of my gold for later."

[Brickdoctor]

"Nah, I should save some of my gold for later."

"Very well."

I walk downstairs to update my sign. (list of items for sale a few posts up has been updated with Soma for 30 Gold)

"Thank you, Benji. You have my word, and my bow, that I will not let you down," he states as Xander acknowledges his commitment to return to the fields with Benji.

Althior crosses out Finnegan's name and writes his own in it's place, confirming his place.
