JimBee Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Guts frowns. "So, your people, the imps, are here now, in our world?" "Yes, where they belong. I have no issues with sharing this land with those who have settled here since my people disappeared. Eubric is a diverse and wonderful place, heheh. But my people... they would think otherwise, I think. I am not sure if it is good that they would like take revenge on the people who banished them, because those paladins are long gone and only their offspring long removed from the original bloodline remain. Still, I have seen remnants of those people. The Order Imperial would seek to hide and control all of the world's knowledge for themselves. They are not unlike the Crimson Crown that we encountered while delivering the painting device." Quote
Asphalt Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) The door creaks open as Karie leans on the door. Her make up was smeared and her hair looked knotted and dishevelled. She hobbled up to the steps, looking pale and tired. Her stomach looked larger, and as Karie made her way to the top of the stairs, it was clear she had been drinking. She moved over to her table and sat down, placing somethings out on the table. --- Annienal walks around, noticing the pale woman near the back selling things. Another sale! Annienal approaches the woman who looks at her, seemingly bored. "You gonna buy anything, or are you gonna chit chat, because I'm not wholly interested in chit chat right now." "Oh, um... I was wondering how much you wanted for the Sapphire and Helmet?" "60 gold. Take it or leave it." Annienal fished around her pockets and handed the pale woman the coin, before picking up both of her new items. She'd have to get the helmet redone, as it was old and tacky looking, but the sapphire looked polished, beautiful, and as blue as the sky. "Thank you, miss." She nods her head. The woman motions her to move along. "So, um, what's your-" "Not important at the moment, sorry." Anneinal stammered onward. "Oh, um, b-but I just-" "Next!" Anneinal looked behind her, noticing no one. She frowned and timidly walked away, at least happy she got some new things. --- Kare grimaced as she rubbed her eyes. It had been sleepless night after sleepless night with her unresponsive husband. She needed to talk to someone. Her lust for vengeance had been reignited. "Where the hell is Arthur..." Kintobor Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) Karie perks up at the sound of the... well, definitely giant individual approaching. Karie shakes her head in disapproval. "Sorry, I can sell this thing for 200 at the market if I wanted to. Make it 250 and you got a deal. You're paying 150 less than if you bought it at Fabio's through me, so it's a win for both of us." A faint grin plasters across her face. She forgot how fun haggling could be. Edited March 22, 2015 by Kintobor Quote
Asphalt Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Vindsval considered it a moment, 250 coin for something he cannot yet use is a steep price. But, if the witchery way is indeed that path he is to take..... "A deal then has been struck. My hope is that it will pay off in the long run." He hands the exceeding pale woman 250 gold coins. His purse now much lighter than it was before. Quote

I'm so happy for you that you have found your people, I really am, but if I understand this correctly, you have brought a whole race, for all intents and purposes an army of angry little men like you, that are very pissed off at humans and other races, to Uland, where those people live. Are you sure this is the right? You even considering approving of this 'revenge' has me worried." Guts looks helplessly at Hybros, this could be bad. Very bad. Kintobor Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Karie tosses the giant the talisman. "Thanks for doing business." Karie begins to wave him off before something strikes her. My people are few and have just returned to this world. A race as old as mine knows better than to make reckless decisions. At least, I hope... Ehehm, I am not so concerned about revenge, and my people do not wish to start a war that will be the end of us, again. But there are those who would still seek to destroy us because of our nature. The world would be a better place without those people," he states dismissively. He thought perhaps he should change the subject. If word got out about his people, they would be put in danger. He poked Guts' forearm. "Erm, I would appreciate it if you kept this information to yourself. My people are vulnerable. I do not wish to see them gone again." He took another sip from his tea while peering above the rim of the mug at Guts, trying to gauge his reaction. "Tell me about your recent travels. Have you come any closer to claiming Eubric's throne? Eheh..." Quote

Sadly, though for him or for you I do not know, I have not seen him since my return to the hall. If I run across him, who should I say is looking for him?" Karie looks confused at the mention of brown lizards. "A dragon? Since when... oh, nevermind, I'll ask him in person. Tell him Karie's looking for him in the hall. I need to talk to him about stuff. Trust me, we're friends, and if I had any intentions of killing him, I'd of done it already." Sarge approaches Karie, always eager for a bargain; "You sellin that trickster's mask of the elf thing lass? *Cough* Theyre bloody mint." "I know these things are bloody mint, and that's why I'm not selling it to you, nor is it for sale on my table. If you're not interested in this staff, Sarge, then bugger off and return to your drink." Karie replied in a vicious tone. Overhearing, Warlen pipes up "He got chosen for that quest to help that kid. Scubacarrot Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Guts slowly shakes his head at Hybros, as to say he disapproved. "I hope you know what to do if it does come to conflict, if your people have been gone for so long, you are the link between them and the world as it is today." The Alchemist then shrugged. He takes a sip and says bitterly: "King. Yeah. I don't know. It's just that, but... Someone needs to clean up the mess. The Wolfgang is getting more and more powerful, nasty things are happening, but it may be too late to make a real difference. Months ago, we might have had a chance if we had acted, but now? What will the few heroes that would support me do to win over the Houses, the Gang or the People? I will never have the Heroica Veterans' support, I see that now, and the Houses just want to keep the world to be as it used to. No one important is going to support a coup made by a Strivvian exile." Quote
JimBee Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 "I know." Hybros replied simply. He looked hard at the table. "Never say never, Guts. I would like to believe we are doing good by this organization, or at least trying. I returned here and did not stay with my people because I know there is work to be done. I have seen the potential we have to change the world. It does not take a king to make that difference, only an individual." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 "It does not take a king to make that difference, only an individual." "You are right. But I wonder what the name of that individual is." Guts smiled softly, and added: "Who makes the most difference, the monarch, or the assassin?" Quote

" 'Can tell why it's called 'Grumpy's staff'. *Cough*" Muttering under his breath, sarge says "I can see why someone like you would need a mask to do what the white makeup cant." Sarge walks off quite amiably to his drink. After all, he liked Cider. Quote

Guts smiled softly, and added: "Who makes the most difference, the monarch, or the assassin?" "Heh, you know well enough that my assassin days are behind me. But you also know that a well placed kill could mean all the difference." Hybros smiled back, but maintained his hard stare. "The name is not important, that is why it can be anyone." He took another long sip before tearing his gaze from Guts. "Ehehm, but as Boomingham would say, this is heavy talk for light company. Let us drink while we can, heheh." He began to signal for Scherezade, but hesitated. "Unless your alchemy has advanced to the level that you can brew it yourself? Heheheh..." Quote
