"'My strength will be shown in thy weakness.' Second book of Corin stanza 12 line 10. I know not his reasons for bringing this upon me, but it must be for my ultimate perfection. I have lived all my years in this city and devoted my self to the service of Ennoc and his church, he will not fail me though he seems far away." Boris paused for a moment in contemplation upon Vindsval's story. "You speak of your Mother's people, from where is it you come?"

There truly does seem to be a stanza for everything. I can see why you travelled little in your training.

I come from nowhere. As I said, i came to this city because I had heard all were welcome within its walls. My father was a green skinned Ogre from the Eastern Shores of Baltarok. He left his homeland and met my mother in Nornia. She was the third daughter of a Priest among the Ice giants of that isle.

"I wonder what I can do to get 65 gold around here..." Timothy thinks aloud.

Vindsval bites back the knee-jerk response of "one could seek employment." and instead looks at the new arrival.

It would depend Glade Runner on what you needed it for, and who you asked.

Entering the Hall to catch up with some allies, and potentially some extra training, seemed like a reasonable thing to do. But somehow her mood actually worsened, courtesy of what was posted up on the quest board. So it was she found herself considering a rare mug of alcohol when she noticed Vindsval speaking with some pale man reminding her of the Fenarians. The orc gave a short wave to the newly trained paladin, then turned her attention back to the weapon she was polishing, dissatisfied with its effectiveness.

Vindsval returns the wave from his old friend.

Miderun, it has been a long time.

Kiray enters the hall, her coin purse heavier than it was when she was last here. She looks around for Nerwen, hoping to pay her back, but seems like it was not to be this day. She nods at Miderun as she grabs a mug and finds a quiet spot to gather her thoughts.

She pulls out the paper that the young assassin gave her many moons ago. Something in Kiray's bones told her she would see Diana soon. She knew she had friends in the Hall, and outside, deep in the undercity of Eubric. There was work to do.

Miderun nodded towards both of her friends as she stood. It was a truly surprising delight to not have to deal with an army of fools trying to kill eachother, if only for a brief while.

So wrapped up in reveling in the brief quiet was she, Miderun didn't even notice when her path led directly past a rather bored rogue thief, knocking a few of his things to the ground.

"Damn mate. I ain't even movin' - watch where you're goin', will ya'?

Atramor set down his rum and was just in the middle of picking up the awkwardly sized greatsword he was lugging around when Miderun paused, eyeing the weapon and the shield it was slung to as the rogue picked them up.

"Are you selling these?"

Atramor shrugged, glancing from the gear to the orc for a bit before dropping both items into her arms instead, looking relieved to not be hauling them around any longer.

"Six hundred gold for the lot."

The young barbarian didn't even really think about it. Gold still had little meaning to her, even after years outside of Baltarok. She tossed the strange man a pouch of 600 coins, and left the saloon admiring the unused sheen of the Living Shield and Living Silver Greatsword.

A strange one that.

Miderun, come join us. I would hear of your adventures since our parting.

As he slowly tries to open the door a cold gust of wind blows the doors wide open flaring up the fires in the place. Now it could be just the sudden "burst" of light but the place always seems to get darker when The Demon Germ is there. After he closed the doors. He checks out the quest board and spotted two quest. Thinking it was a long shot at best he puts his name down for #148 & #150. And then spotted a flyer for information about the murder of Justice Beaver. Grabbing the flyer and crumpling it into a ball and then throwing it into one of the fires. Telling the people around the fire: It's an old flyer.

Vindsval looks up as the fresh air wafts across the hall. He sees an old friend.

Master Germ, it has been long since we spoke. Come, tell me of your journey since we last shared this place.

Tell me Master Boris, what know you of the Gods of the North? Or does your Lord forbid knowledge of other Paths?

"Tis not forbidden, but we often do not pursue a study of them unless we are being sent on mission to areas where they are established in order that we might rightly address their nuances. I know but little of the dieties of the North, I have heard a ballad or two concering Torrik and Rikvard but that is all. You speak as though you have had first hand experience with the one they call Wartan, have you truely seen him face to face?"

Posted (edited)

I have indeed. Has your god never spoken to you? It was the Wander who charged me with becoming a Paladin that I might defend those who are without hope and send souls to him in Judgment. Have you never been blessed by your lord with his presence?

Boris sat and thought for a moment, "I wouldn't quite call it a face to face encounter. I recall around my fifteenth birthday accompanying Brother Tilus on an exorcism, a real nasty demon had taken over a beggar woman in the hovels. I remember standing in her bedroom, Brother Tilus exhorting the being to return to Zoot in Ennoc's name. For seven hours he labored when all at once a bright light shown through the window, it enveloped me... I remember feeling a presence, a purity, a warmth, an 'otherness' as it channeled through me and then... the demon was gone, fled back to its master. Since that day I have channeled Ennoc's light through both healing and dispelling, until a few months ago when... when..." The cleric looks at his hands, "this."

"Now, the light is still there, but it is cold. Harsh. More 'other' than before." A single tear rolls down the vampire's cheek.

Kiray makes her way over to Miderun's familiar face. She notices the new gear her former party leader was carrying. "Those look useful. Want to bash some heads in with them sometime soon?"

A little bit not wanting to talk to anyone but decided to talk to Vindsval anyways.

What, Miderun has not told you what we were doing? Well where to start...

We were hired by a guy named Elnath VanCleef also known as The Prospector. He wanted some extra bodyguards. Because he was given a "blue magic stone", and a seal by a "Star Elf" noble. Well he wanted to return the said items to the "original owner". On the way there we were attacked by some merfolks. Then we found a "crystal forest" that need saving. But, to save said forest we had to go to a dungeon. Then we went to the Ferandian City (is that how it pronounced?). Well the party split up for a little bit. That is when he spotted Boris. Boris, you should of come along you could of help beat up a "Bigg Racoon Demon" and his "were-snake" friends. To bad the Demon ran off, but they had the item we needed to save the forest. Plus the Raccoon turned out to be Mr. VanCleef's so called friend. To shortened the story out, we give the original items to the local "Queen". And she sent us back home with a long rang portal.

Wait a minute, didn't you lose this arm? As Germ tapped his new arm.

Miderun snorted a bit as Germ barreled through his description of their escapades. "Basically that is true. We tried to fix things there, but it seems they've been holding their grudges for longer than Baltarok and the Kingdoms have even been around. Those sarlmyr are all mad."

As he gives her an odd look.

What is that sound spouse to mean?

I got a question for you. Do you still think my "idea" about those "elves" are totally stupid?

I know the feeling of which you speak. To channel the power of a god. It is a heady and humbling feeling.

It sounds as if you did almost as much meandering as we did in the Necropolis. But it would seem your quest ended satisfactorily yes? As far as my arm, yes there was a time when I had but one. The Wanderer and Lord Grogmas saw fit to restore it to me. . . After a fashion.

He sets a single gold coin on the table and then taps it with his left forefinger. It sounds as if a tiny smith is hammering on an even smaller Anvil.

Then it is well you are once again among friends. I fear we left a number of such grudges simmering in the Necropolis. I do not believe we will be invited back any time soon.

"Sorry for butting in, but what happened in Necropolis?"

We were sent to investigate what Amber Makepeace was planning. It turns out her plan was to find a way to turn all of Eurbric into a second city of the undead. We rid the city of an assassin, foiled Makepeace's plans and freed the Ruler of the city from her control. Unfortunately our desire to cease the bloodshed led a to giving our words that we would see Makepeace home to her father rather than killing her. This did not sit well with the Commander of the city guard who felt we should hand her over to them. We had to leave the city in haste, so as to not be forced to battle the entire city watch.

She is currently under the care of the Syndicate. She will not be troubling anyone any time soon. To our understanding she never obtained the knowledge or materials needed to complete the ritual.

"Of course," Miderun nodded towards the seat beside her, taking a draught of what looked like a wooden mug of grog.

"Neither solution seems permanent enough to me." The orc shrugged.

"Oh she has the knowledge all right, you can bet on that."

Somehow, Throlar had managed to return to the Hall and come up behind them without being noticed.

"Mind if I join you?"

"Neither solution seems permanent enough to me." The orc shrugged.

"I agree with you there, somewhat ironic considering that I was responsible for the agreement in the first place."

"Killing her would have been the best option. But in lieu of that handing her over to the guard is decent. Sending her to her father is a slap on the wrist."
